Chapter 34
Exod DRC 34:1  And after this he said: Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the former, and I will write upon them the words, which were in the tables, which thou brokest.
Exod KJV 34:1  And the Lord said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.
Exod VulgClem 34:1  Ac deinceps : Præcide, ait, tibi duas tabulas lapideas instar priorum, et scribam super eas verba, quæ habuerunt tabulæ quas fregisti.
Exod DRC 34:2  Be ready in the morning, that thou mayst forthwith go up into Mount Sinai, and thou shalt stand with me upon the top of the mount.
Exod KJV 34:2  And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.
Exod VulgClem 34:2  Esto paratus mane, ut ascendas statim in montem Sinai, stabisque mecum super verticem montis.
Exod DRC 34:3  Let no man go up with thee, and let not any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the oxen nor the sheep feed over against it.
Exod KJV 34:3  And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.
Exod VulgClem 34:3  Nullus ascendat tecum, nec videatur quispiam per totum montem : boves quoque et oves non pascantur e contra.
Exod DRC 34:4  Then he cut out two tables of stone, such as had been before; and rising very early he went up into the Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, carrying with him the tables.
Exod KJV 34:4  And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.
Exod VulgClem 34:4  Excidit ergo duas tabulas lapideas, quales antea fuerant : et de nocte consurgens ascendit in montem Sinai, sicut præceperat ei Dominus, portans secum tabulas.
Exod DRC 34:5  And when the Lord was come down in a cloud, Moses stood with him, calling upon the name of the Lord.
Exod KJV 34:5  And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.

Exod VulgClem 34:6  Quo transeunte coram eo, ait : Dominator Domine Deus, misericors et clemens, patiens et multæ miserationis, ac verax,
Exod DRC 34:7  Who keepest mercy unto thousands: who takest away iniquity, and wickedness, and sin, and no man of himself is innocent before thee. Who renderest the iniquity of the fathers to the children, and to the grandchildren unto the third and fourth generation.
Exod KJV 34:7  Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
Exod VulgClem 34:7  qui custodis misericordiam in millia ; qui aufers iniquitatem, et scelera, atque peccata, nullusque apud te per se innocens est ; qui reddis iniquitatem patrum filiis, ac nepotibus in tertiam et quartam progeniem.
Exod DRC 34:8  And Moses making haste, bowed down prostrate unto the earth, and adoring,
Exod KJV 34:8  And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.

Exod DRC 34:9  Said: If I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, I beseech thee that thou wilt go with us, (for it is a stiffnecked people) and take away our iniquities and sin, and possess us.
Exod KJV 34:9  And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
Exod VulgClem 34:9  ait : Si inveni gratiam in conspectu tuo, Domine, obsecro ut gradiaris nobiscum (populus enim duræ cervicis est) et auferas iniquitates nostras atque peccata, nosque possideas.
Exod DRC 34:10  The Lord answered: I will make a covenant in the sight of all, I will do signs such as were never seen upon the earth, nor in any nations; that this people, in the midst of whom thou art, may see the terrible work of the Lord which I will do.
Exod KJV 34:10  And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the Lord: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.
Exod VulgClem 34:10  Respondit Dominus : Ego inibo pactum videntibus cunctis : signa faciam quæ numquam visa sunt super terram, nec in ullis gentibus, ut cernat populus iste, in cujus es medio, opus Domini terribile quod facturus sum.
Exod DRC 34:11  Observe all things which this day I command thee: I myself will drive out before thy face the Amorrhite, and the Chanaanite, and the Hethite, and the Pherezite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite.
Exod KJV 34:11  Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.
Exod VulgClem 34:11  Observa cuncta quæ hodie mando tibi : ego ipse ejiciam ante faciem tuam Amorrhæum, et Chananæum, et Hethæum, Pherezæum quoque, et Hevæum, et Jebusæum.
Exod DRC 34:12  Beware thou never join in friendship with the inhabitants of that land, which may be thy ruin:
Exod KJV 34:12  Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:
Exod VulgClem 34:12  Cave ne umquam cum habitatoribus terræ illius jungas amicitias, quæ sint tibi in ruinam :
Exod DRC 34:13  But destroy their altars, break their statues and cut down their groves:

Exod DRC 34:14  Adore not any strange god. The Lord his name is jealous, he is a jealous God.

Exod VulgClem 34:14  noli adorare deum alienum. Dominus zelotes nomen ejus ; Deus est æmulator.
Exod DRC 34:15  Make no covenant with the men of those countries; lest, when they have committed fornication with their gods, and have adored their idols, some one call thee to eat of the things sacrificed.
Exod KJV 34:15  Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
Exod VulgClem 34:15  Ne ineas pactum cum hominibus illarum regionum : ne, cum fornicati fuerint cum diis suis, et adoraverint simulacra eorum, vocet te quispiam ut comedas de immolatis.
Exod DRC 34:16  Neither shalt thou take of their daughters a wife for thy son, lest after they themselves have committed fornication, they make thy sons also to commit fornication with their gods.
Exod KJV 34:16  And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.

Exod DRC 34:18  Thou shalt keep the feast of the unleavened bread. Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee in the time of the month of the new corn: for in the month of the spring time thou camest out from Egypt.
Exod KJV 34:18  The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.
Exod VulgClem 34:18  Solemnitatem azymorum custodies. Septem diebus vesceris azymis, sicut præcepi tibi, in tempore mensis novorum : mense enim verni temporis egressus es de Ægypto.
Exod DRC 34:19  All of the male kind that openeth the womb, shall be mine. Of all beasts; both of oxen and of sheep, it shall be mine.
Exod KJV 34:19  All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.
Exod VulgClem 34:19  Omne quod aperit vulvam generis masculini, meum erit. De cunctis animantibus, tam de bobus, quam de ovibus, meum erit.
Exod DRC 34:20  The firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a sheep: but if thou wilt not give a price for it, it shall be slain. The firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem: neither shalt thou appear before me empty.
Exod KJV 34:20  But the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb: and if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.
Exod VulgClem 34:20  Primogenitum asini redimes ove : sin autem nec pretium pro eo dederis, occidetur. Primogenitum filiorum tuorum redimes : nec apparebis in conspectu meo vacuus.
Exod DRC 34:21  Six days shalt thou work, the seventh day thou shalt cease to plough and to reap.
Exod KJV 34:21  Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
Exod VulgClem 34:21  Sex diebus operaberis ; die septimo cessabis arare et metere.
Exod DRC 34:22  Thou shalt keep the feast of weeks with the firstfruits of the corn of thy wheat harvest, and the feast when the time of the year returneth that all things are laid in.
Exod KJV 34:22  And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year’s end.
Exod VulgClem 34:22  Solemnitatem hebdomadarum facies tibi in primitiis frugum messis tuæ triticeæ, et solemnitatem, quando redeunte anni tempore cuncta conduntur.
Exod DRC 34:23  Three times in the year all thy males shall appear in the sight of the almighty Lord the God of Israel.
Exod KJV 34:23  Thrice in the year shall all your men children appear before the Lord God, the God of Israel.
Exod VulgClem 34:23  Tribus temporibus anni apparebit omne masculinum tuum in conspectu omnipotentis Domini Dei Israël.
Exod DRC 34:24  For when I shall have taken away the nations from thy face, and shall have enlarged thy borders, no man shall lie in wait against thy land when thou shalt go up, and appear in the sight of the Lord thy God thrice in a year.
Exod KJV 34:24  For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the Lord thy God thrice in the year.
Exod VulgClem 34:24  Cum enim tulero gentes a facie tua, et dilatavero terminos tuos, nullus insidiabitur terræ tuæ, ascendente te, et apparente in conspectu Domini Dei tui ter in anno.
Exod DRC 34:25  Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice upon leaven; neither shall there remain in the morning any thing of the victim of the solemnity of the Phase.
Exod KJV 34:25  Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.
Exod VulgClem 34:25  Non immolabis super fermento sanguinem hostiæ meæ : neque residebit mane de victima solemnitatis Phase.
Exod DRC 34:26  The first of the fruits of thy ground thou shalt offer in the house of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in the milk of his dam.
Exod KJV 34:26  The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother’s milk.
Exod VulgClem 34:26  Primitias frugum terræ tuæ offeres in domo Domini Dei tui. Non coques hædum in lacte matris suæ.
Exod DRC 34:27  And the Lord said to Moses: Write thee these words, by which I have made a covenant both with thee and with Israel.
Exod KJV 34:27  And the Lord said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
Exod VulgClem 34:27  Dixitque Dominus ad Moysen : Scribe tibi verba hæc, quibus et tecum et cum Israël pepigi fœdus.
Exod DRC 34:28  And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights: he neither ate bread nor drank water, and he wrote upon the tables the ten words of the covenant.
Exod KJV 34:28  And he was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.
Exod VulgClem 34:28  Fuit ergo ibi cum Domino quadraginta dies et quadraginta noctes : panem non comedit, et aquam non bibit, et scripsit in tabulis verba fœderis decem.
Exod DRC 34:29  And when Moses came down from the Mount Sinai, he held the two tables of the testimony, and he knew not that his face was horned from the conversation of the Lord.
Exod KJV 34:29  And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.
Exod VulgClem 34:29  Cumque descenderet Moyses de monte Sinai, tenebat duas tabulas testimonii, et ignorabat quod cornuta esset facies sua ex consortio sermonis Domini.
Exod DRC 34:30  And Aaron and the children of Israel seeing the face of Moses horned, were afraid to come near.
Exod KJV 34:30  And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.

Exod DRC 34:31  And being called by him, they returned, both Aaron and the rulers of the congregation. And after that he spoke to them,

Exod DRC 34:32  And all the children of Israel came to him: and he gave them in commandment all that he had heard of the Lord on Mount Sinai.
Exod KJV 34:32  And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the Lord had spoken with him in mount Sinai.
Exod VulgClem 34:32  venerunt ad eum etiam omnes filii Israël : quibus præcepit cuncta quæ audierat a Domino in monte Sinai.
Exod DRC 34:33  And having done speaking, he put a veil upon his face.
Exod KJV 34:33  And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.

Exod DRC 34:34  But when he went in to the Lord, and spoke with him, he took it away until he came forth, and then he spoke to the children of Israel all things that had been commanded him.
Exod KJV 34:34  But when Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.
Exod VulgClem 34:34  Quod ingressus ad Dominum, et loquens cum eo, auferebat donec exiret, et tunc loquebatur ad filios Israël omnia quæ sibi fuerant imperata.
Exod DRC 34:35  And they saw that the face of Moses when he came out was horned, but he covered his face again, if at any time he spoke to them.
Exod KJV 34:35  And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
