43:6  And Israel said, Why dealt ye [so] ill with me, [as] to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?

43:7  But they answered: The man asked us in order concerning our kindred: if our father lived: if we had a brother: and we answered him regularly, according to what he demanded: could we know that he would say: Bring hither your brother with you?

43:7  And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?

43:7  Odvětili: „Ten muž se nás neodbytně vyptával na nás a na náš rod. Ptal se: ‚Je ještě naživu váš otec? Máte ještě bratra?‘ Pověděli jsme mu jen to, nač se přímo zeptal. Což jsme vůbec mohli tušit, že řekne: ‚Přiveďte svého bratra dolů‘?“

43:7  Odpověděli: „Ten muž se podrobně vyptával na nás i na naši rodinu: ‚Žije ještě váš otec? Máte ještě dalšího bratra?‘ Podle toho jsme mu odpovídali. Jak jsme mohli vědět, že řekne: ‚Přiveďte svého bratra sem‘?“

43:7  Odpověděli: Ten muž se nás zevrubně vyptával na naše příbuzenstvo, ptal se: Žije ještě váš otec? Máte ještě bratra? Oznamovali jsme mu to na jeho přímé otázky. Cožpak jsme jen tušili, že řekne: Přiveďte svého bratra sem dolů?

43:7  Odpověděli: Pilně vyptával se muž ten na nás, i na rod náš, mluvě: Jest-li živ ještě otec váš? Máte-li bratra? A dali jsme mu zprávu na ta slova. Zdaž jsme to jak věděti mohli, že dí: Přiveďte bratra svého?

43:7  And they said, The man asked us strictly concerning our state, and our kindred, saying, [Is] your father yet alive? have ye [another] brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: Could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?

43:7  They said, "The man asked directly concerning ourselves, and concerning our relatives, saying, 'Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?' We just answered his questions. Is there any way we could know that he would say, 'Bring your brother down?'"

43:7  And they said, The man asked us straightly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have you another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?

43:7  At illi responderunt : Interrogavit nos homo per ordinem nostram progeniem : si pater viveret : si haberemus fratrem : et nos respondimus ei consequenter juxta id quod fuerat sciscitatus : numquid scire poteramus quod dicturus esset : Adducite fratrem vestrum vobiscum ?

43:8  And Juda said to his father: Send the boy with me, that we may set forward, and may live: lest both we and our children perish.

43:8  Potom se na otce Izraele obrátil Juda: „Pusť toho chlapce se mnou, ať můžeme jít. Tak zůstaneme naživu a nezemřeme - ani my ani ty ani naši maličcí.

43:9  Já sám se za něho zaručuji, můžeš mě volat k odpovědnosti. Jestli ti ho nepřivedu a nepostavím před tebe, prohřešil jsem se proti tobě na celý život.

43:11  And their father Israel said to them, If [it must be] so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry to the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:

43:12  And take with you double money, and carry back what you found in your sacks, lest perhaps it was done by mistake.

43:18  And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph’s house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.

43:18  Ale ti muži se báli, že byli uvedeni do domu Josefova, a říkali si: „To jsme předvedeni kvůli tomu stříbru, které nám bylo posledně vráceno do žoků. Teď se na nás vyřítí, přepadnou nás a zajmou nás i s našimi osly jako otroky.“

43:18  Když ale uviděli, kam je vedou, polekali se a říkali si: „Určitě nás sem dal odvést kvůli tomu stříbru, vrácenému prve do našich vaků. Teď se na nás vrhne, napadne nás a vezme nás do otroctví i s našimi osly!“

43:18  Ti dostali strach, že byli přivedeni do Josefova domu, a říkali si: Kvůli těm penězům, které byly na počátku navráceny do našich žoků, jsme přivedeni, aby se na nás vrhli, aby se nás zmocnili a aby nás vzali za otroky i s našimi osly.
