15:1  He made also houses for himself in the city of David: and built a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tabernacle for it.

15:1  And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

15:1  Fecit quoque sibi domos in civitate David : et ædificavit locum arcæ Dei, tetenditque ei tabernaculum.

15:2  Then David said: No one ought to carry the ark of God, but the Levites, whom the Lord hath chosen to carry it, and to minister unto himself for ever.

15:2  Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the Lord chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

15:2  Tunc dixit David : Illicitum est ut a quocumque portetur arca Dei nisi a Levitis, quos elegit Dominus ad portandum eam, et ad ministrandum sibi usque in æternum.

15:3  And he gathered all Israel together into Jerusalem, that the ark of God might be brought into its place, which he had prepared for it.

15:3  And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the Lord unto his place, which he had prepared for it.

15:3  Congregavitque universum Israël in Jerusalem, ut afferretur arca Dei in locum suum, quem præparaverat ei :

15:4  And the sons of Aaron also, and the Levites.

15:4  And David assembled the children of Aaron, and the Levites:

15:5  Of the children of Caath, Uriel was the chief, and his brethren a hundred and twenty.

15:6  Of the sons of Merari, Asaia the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty.

15:8  Of the sons of Elisaphan, Semeias the chief: and his brethren two hundred.

15:9  Of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief: and his brethren eighty.

15:10  Of the sons of Oziel, Aminadab the chief: and his brethren a hundred and twelve.

15:11  And David called Sadoc, and Abiathar the priests, and the Levites, Uriel, Asaia, Joel, Semeia, Eliel, and Aminadab:

15:11  And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab,

15:11  Vocavitque David Sadoc et Abiathar sacerdotes, et Levitas, Uriel, Asaiam, Joël, Semeiam, Eliel, et Aminadab :

15:12  And he said to them: You that are the heads of the Levitical families, be sanctified with your brethren, and bring the ark of the Lord the God of Israel to the place, which is prepared for it:

15:12  And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

15:12  et dixit ad eos : Vos, qui estis principes familiarum Leviticarum, sanctificamini cum fratribus vestris, et afferte arcam Domini Dei Israël ad locum qui ei præparatus est :

15:13  Lest as the Lord at first struck us, because you were not present, the same should now also come to pass, by our doing some thing against the law.

15:13  For because ye did it not at the first, the Lord our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

15:13  ne ut a principio, quia non eratis præsentes, percussit nos Dominus ; sic et nunc fiat, illicitum quid nobis agentibus.

15:14  So the priests and the Levites were sanctified, to carry the ark of the Lord the God of Israel.

15:14  So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel.

15:14  Sanctificati sunt ergo sacerdotes et Levitæ ut portarent arcam Domini Dei Israël.

15:15  And the sons of Levi took the ark of God as Moses had commanded, according to the word of the Lord, upon their shoulders, with the staves.

15:15  And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the Lord.

15:15  Et tulerunt filii Levi arcam Dei, sicut præceperat Moyses juxta verbum Domini, humeris suis in vectibus.

15:16  And David spoke to the chiefs of the Levites, to appoint some of their brethren to be singers with musical instruments, to wit, on psalteries, and harps, and cymbals, that the joyful noise might resound on high.

15:16  And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

15:16  Dixitque David principibus Levitarum, ut constituerent de fratribus suis cantores in organis musicorum, nablis videlicet, et lyris, et cymbalis, ut resonaret in excelsis sonitus lætitiæ.

15:17  And they appointed Levites, Hemam the son of Joel, and of his brethren Asaph the son of Barachias: and of the sons of Merari, their brethren: Ethan the son of Casaia.

15:17  So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

15:17  Constitueruntque Levitas : Heman filium Joël, et de fratribus ejus Asaph filium Barachiæ : de filiis vero Merari, fratribus eorum : Ethan filium Casaiæ.

15:18  And with them their brethren: in the second rank, Zacharias, and Ben, and Jaziel, and Semiramoth, and Jahiel, and Ani, and Eliab, and Banaias, and Maasias, and Mathathias, and Eliphalu, and Macenias, and Obededom, and Jehiel, the porters.

15:18  And with them their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed–edom, and Jeiel, the porters.

15:18  Et cum eis fratres eorum : in secundo ordine, Zachariam, et Ben, et Jaziel, et Semiramoth, et Jahiel, et Ani, Eliab, et Banaiam, et Maasiam, et Mathathiam, et Eliphalu, et Maceniam, et Obededom, et Jehiel, janitores.

15:19  Now the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, sounded with cymbals of brass.

15:19  So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass;

15:19  Porro cantores, Heman, Asaph, et Ethan, in cymbalis æneis concrepantes.

15:20  And Zacharias, and Oziel, and Semiramoth, and Jehiel, and Ani, and Eliab, and Maasias, and Banaias, sung mysteries upon psalteries.

15:20  And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth;

15:20  Zacharias autem, et Oziel, et Semiramoth, et Jahiel, et Ani, et Eliab, et Maasias, et Banaias in nablis arcana cantabant.

15:21  And Mathathias, and Eliphalu, and Macenias and Obededom, and Jehiel and Ozaziu, sung a song of victory for the octave upon harps.

15:21  And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed–edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel.

15:21  Porro Mathathias, et Eliphalu, et Macenias, et Obededom, et Jehiel, et Ozaziu, in citharis pro octava canebant epinicion.

15:22  And Chonenias chief of the Levites, presided over the prophecy, to give out the tunes: for he was very skilful.

15:22  And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: he instructed about the song, because he was skilful.

15:22  Chonenias autem princeps Levitarum, prophetiæ præerat, ad præcinendam melodiam : erat quippe valde sapiens.

15:23  And Barachias, and Elcana, were doorkeepers of the ark.

15:23  And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

15:23  Et Barachias, et Elcana, janitores arcæ.

15:24  And Sebenias, and Josaphat, and Nathanael, and Amasai, and Zacharias, and Banaias, and Eliezer the priests, sounded with trumpets, before the ark of God: and Obededom and Jehias were porters of the ark.

15:24  And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: and Obed–edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

15:24  Porro Sebenias, et Josaphat, et Nathanaël, et Amasai, et Zacharias, et Banaias, et Eliezer sacerdotes, clangebant tubis coram arca Dei : et Obededom et Jehias erant janitores arcæ.

15:25  So David and all the ancients of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the house of Obededom with joy.

15:25  So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the house of Obed–edom with joy.

15:25  Igitur David, et omnes majores natu Israël, et tribuni, ierunt ad deportandam arcam fœderis Domini de domo Obededom cum lætitia.

15:26  And when God had helped the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, they offered in sacrifice seven oxen, and seven rams.

15:26  And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams.

15:26  Cumque adjuvisset Deus Levitas qui portabant arcam fœderis Domini, immolabantur septem tauri, et septem arietes.

15:27  And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that carried the ark, and the singing men, and Chonenias the ruler of the prophecy among the singers: and David also had on him an ephod of linen.

15:27  And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen.

15:27  Porro David erat indutus stola byssina, et universi Levitæ qui portabant arcam, cantoresque, et Chonenias princeps prophetiæ inter cantores : David autem etiam indutus erat ephod lineo.

15:28  And all Israel brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord with joyful shouting, and sounding with the sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and cymbals, and psalteries, and harps.

15:28  Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

15:28  Universusque Israël deducebant arcam fœderis Domini in jubilo, et sonitu buccinæ, et tubis, et cymbalis, et nablis, et citharis concrepantes.

15:29  And when the ark of the covenant of the Lord was come to the city of David, Michol the daughter of Saul looking out at a window, saw king David dancing and playing, and she despised him in her heart.

15:29  And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.

15:29  Cumque pervenisset arca fœderis Domini usque ad civitatem David, Michol filia Saul prospiciens per fenestram vidit regem David saltantem atque ludentem, et despexit eum in corde suo.
