Chapter 29
I Ch DRC 29:1  And king David said to all the assembly: Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is as yet young and tender: and the work is great, for a house is prepared not for man, but for God.
I Ch KJV 29:1  Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the Lord God.
I Ch DRC 29:2  And I with all my ability have prepared the expenses for the house of my God. Gold for vessels of gold, and silver for vessels of silver, brass for things of brass, iron for things of iron, wood for things of wood: and onyx stones, and stones like alabaster, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble of Paros in great abundance.
I Ch KJV 29:2  Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance.
I Ch VulgClem 29:2  Ego autem totis viribus meis præparavi impensas domus Dei mei.
I Ch DRC 29:3  Now over and above the things which I have offered into the house of my God I give of my own proper goods, gold and silver for the temple of my God, beside what things I have prepared for the holy house.
I Ch KJV 29:3  Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
I Ch VulgClem 29:3  et super hæc quæ obtuli in domum Dei mei de peculio meo aurum et argentum, do in templum Dei mei, exceptis his quæ præparavi in ædem sanctam.
I Ch DRC 29:4  Three thousand talents of gold of the gold of Ophir: and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the temple.
I Ch KJV 29:4  Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses withal:
I Ch VulgClem 29:4  Tria millia talenta auri de auro Ophir, et septem millia talentorum argenti probatissimi ad deaurandos parietes templi.
I Ch DRC 29:5  And gold for wheresoever there is need of gold: and silver for wheresoever there is need of silver, for the works to be made by the hands of the artificers: now if any man is willing to offer, let him fill his hand to day, and offer what he pleaseth to the Lord.
I Ch KJV 29:5  The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the Lord?
I Ch DRC 29:6  Then the heads of the families, and the princes of the tribes of Israel and the captains of thousands, and of hundreds, and the overseers of the king's possessions promised,
I Ch KJV 29:6  Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king’s work, offered willingly,
I Ch DRC 29:7  And they gave for the works of the house of the Lord, of gold, five thousand talents, and ten thousand solids: of silver ten thousand talents: and of brass eighteen thousand talents: and of iron a hundred thousand talents.
I Ch KJV 29:7  And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
I Ch VulgClem 29:7  Dederuntque in opera domus Dei auri talenta quinque millia, et solidos decem millia : argenti talenta decem millia, et æris talenta decem et octo millia : ferri quoque centum millia talentorum.
I Ch DRC 29:8  And all they that had stones, gave them to the treasures of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Jahiel the Gersonite.
I Ch KJV 29:8  And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the Lord, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite.
I Ch VulgClem 29:8  Et apud quemcumque inventi sunt lapides, dederunt in thesauros domus Domini per manum Jahiel Gersonitis.
I Ch DRC 29:9  And the people rejoiced, when they promised their offerings willingly: because they offered them to the Lord with all their heart: and David the king rejoiced also with a great joy.
I Ch KJV 29:9  Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the Lord: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.
I Ch DRC 29:10  And he blessed the Lord before all the multitude, and he said: Blessed art thou, O Lord the God of Israel, our father from eternity to eternity.
I Ch KJV 29:10  Wherefore David blessed the Lord before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, Lord God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.
I Ch VulgClem 29:10  Et benedixit Domino coram universa multitudine, et ait : Benedictus es, Domine Deus Israël patris nostri, ab æterno in æternum.
I Ch DRC 29:11  Thine, O Lord, is magnificence, and power, and glory, and victory: and to thee is praise: for all that is in heaven, and in earth, is thine: thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art above all princes.
I Ch KJV 29:11  Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.
I Ch DRC 29:12  Thine are riches, and thine is glory, thou hast dominion over all, in thy hand is power and might: in thy hand greatness, and the empire of all things.
I Ch KJV 29:12  Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
I Ch VulgClem 29:12  Tuæ divitiæ, et tua est gloria : tu dominaris omnium. In manu tua virtus et potentia : in manu tua magnitudo, et imperium omnium.
I Ch DRC 29:13  Now therefore our God we give thanks to thee, and we praise thy glorious name.
I Ch KJV 29:13  Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
I Ch VulgClem 29:13  Nunc igitur Deus noster, confitemur tibi, et laudamus nomen tuum inclytum.
I Ch DRC 29:14  Who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to promise thee all these things? all things are thine: and we have given thee what we received of thy hand.
I Ch KJV 29:14  But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
I Ch DRC 29:15  For we are sojourners before thee, and strangers, as were all our fathers. I Our days upon earth are as a shadow, and there is no stay.
I Ch KJV 29:15  For we are strangers before thee, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.
I Ch VulgClem 29:15  Peregrini enim sumus coram te, et advenæ, sicut omnes patres nostri.
I Ch DRC 29:16  O Lord our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee a house for thy holy name, is from thy hand, and all things are thine.
I Ch KJV 29:16  O Lord our God, all this store that we have prepared to build thee an house for thine holy name cometh of thine hand, and is all thine own.
I Ch DRC 29:17  I know my God that thou provest hearts, and lovest simplicity, wherefore I also in the simplicity of my heart, have joyfully offered all these things: and I have seen with great joy thy people, which are here present, offer thee their offerings.
I Ch KJV 29:17  I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the uprightness of mine heart I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen with joy thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.
I Ch DRC 29:18  O Lord God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Israel our fathers, keep for ever this will of their heart, and let this mind remain always for the worship of thee.
I Ch KJV 29:18  O Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee:
I Ch VulgClem 29:18  Domine Deus Abraham, et Isaac, et Israël patrum nostrorum, custodi in æternum hanc voluntatem cordis eorum, et semper in venerationem tui mens ista permaneat.
I Ch DRC 29:19  And give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, that he may keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy ceremonies, and do all things: and build the house, for which I have provided the charges.
I Ch KJV 29:19  And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the palace, for the which I have made provision.
I Ch VulgClem 29:19  Salomoni quoque filio meo da cor perfectum, ut custodiat mandata tua, testimonia tua, et cæremonias tuas, et faciat universa : et ædificet ædem, cujus impensas paravi.
I Ch DRC 29:20  And David commanded all the assembly: Bless ye the Lord our God. And all the assembly blessed the Lord the God of their fathers: and they bowed themselves and worshipped God, and then the king.
I Ch KJV 29:20  And David said to all the congregation, Now bless the Lord your God. And all the congregation blessed the Lord God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads, and worshipped the Lord, and the king.
I Ch VulgClem 29:20  Præcepit autem David universæ ecclesiæ : Benedicite Domino Deo nostro.
I Ch DRC 29:21  And they sacrificed victims to the Lord: and they offered holocausts the next day, a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs, with their libations, and with every thing prescribed most abundantly for all Israel.
I Ch KJV 29:21  And they sacrificed sacrifices unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings unto the Lord, on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel:
I Ch VulgClem 29:21  Immolaveruntque victimas Domino : et obtulerunt holocausta die sequenti, tauros mille, arietes mille, agnos mille cum libaminibus suis, et universo ritu abundantissime in omnem Israël.
I Ch DRC 29:22  And they ate, and drank before the Lord that day with great joy. And they anointed the second time Solomon the son of David. And they anointed him to the Lord to be prince, and Sadoc to be high priest.
I Ch KJV 29:22  And did eat and drink before the Lord on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed him unto the Lord to be the chief governor, and Zadok to be priest.
I Ch DRC 29:23  And Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and he pleased all: and all Israel obeyed him.
I Ch KJV 29:23  Then Solomon sat on the throne of the Lord as king instead of David his father, and prospered; and all Israel obeyed him.
I Ch VulgClem 29:23  Seditque Salomon super solium Domini in regem pro David patre suo, et cunctis placuit : et paruit illi omnis Israël.
I Ch DRC 29:24  And all the princes, and men of power, and all the sons of king David gave their hand, and were subject to Solomon the king.
I Ch KJV 29:24  And all the princes, and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon the king.
I Ch VulgClem 29:24  Sed et universi principes, et potentes, et cuncti filii regis David dederunt manum, et subjecti fuerunt Salomoni regi.
I Ch DRC 29:25  And the Lord magnified Solomon over all Israel: and gave him the glory of a reign, such as no king of Israel had before him.
I Ch KJV 29:25  And the Lord magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel, and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before him in Israel.
I Ch VulgClem 29:25  Magnificavit ergo Dominus Salomonem super omnem Israël : et dedit illi gloriam regni, qualem nullus habuit ante eum rex Israël.
I Ch DRC 29:26  So David the son of Isai reigned over all Israel.
I Ch KJV 29:26  Thus David the son of Jesse reigned over all Israel.
I Ch VulgClem 29:26  Igitur David filius Isai regnavit super universum Israël.
I Ch DRC 29:27  And the days that he reigned over Israel, were forty years: in Hebron he reigned seven years, and in Jerusalem three and thirty years.
I Ch KJV 29:27  And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
I Ch VulgClem 29:27  Et dies quibus regnavit super Israël, fuerunt quadraginta anni : in Hebron regnavit septem annis, et in Jerusalem annis triginta tribus.
I Ch DRC 29:28  And he died in a good age, full of days, and riches, and glory. And Solomon his son reigned in his stead.
I Ch KJV 29:28  And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.
I Ch DRC 29:29  Now the acts of king David first and last are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer:
I Ch KJV 29:29  Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer,
I Ch DRC 29:30  And of all his reign, and his valour, and of the times that passed under him, either in Israel, or in all the kingdoms of the countries.
I Ch KJV 29:30  With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
I Ch VulgClem 29:30  universique regni ejus, et fortitudinis, et temporum quæ transierunt sub eo, sive in Israël, sive in cunctis regnis terrarum.
