JOHN
Chapter 2
John | Godbey | 2:1 | On the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
John | Godbey | 2:3 | And they had no wine, because the wine of the marriage was exhausted. Then the mother of Jesus says to Him, There is no wine.
John | Godbey | 2:4 | And Jesus says to her, What is that to me and to thee? O woman, my hour is not yet come.
John | Godbey | 2:6 | And there were six waterpots of stone sitting there according to the purification of the Jews, containing about two or three firkins. Jesus says to them,
John | Godbey | 2:9 | and they brought it to him. And when the ruler of the feast tasted the water, having been made wine, and did not know whence it is (but the servants having drawn the water knew), the ruler calls the groom,
John | Godbey | 2:10 | and says to him, Every man first sets forth the good wine; and when they have drunk freely, the inferior: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
John | Godbey | 2:11 | Jesus did this, the beginning of miracles, in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.
John | Godbey | 2:12 | After this He and His mother, and His brothers and His disciples went down into Capernaum, and abode there not many days.
John | Godbey | 2:14 | And He found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting:
John | Godbey | 2:15 | and having made a scourge of cords, He cast all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the money of the exchangers, and over-turned the tables.
John | Godbey | 2:16 | And He said to those selling doves; Take these things hence, make not the house of my Father a house of merchandise.
John | Godbey | 2:17 | And His disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thy house doth eat me up.
John | Godbey | 2:18 | Then the Jews responded and said to Him, What sign do you show us, because you do these things?
John | Godbey | 2:19 | Jesus responded and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will rear it up.
John | Godbey | 2:20 | Then the Jews said, Forty and six years was this temple being built, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
John | Godbey | 2:22 | Then when He arose from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said these things, and believed the Scripture and words which Jesus spoke.
John | Godbey | 2:23 | And when He was in Jerusalem at the feast, during the passover, many believed on His name, seeing His miracles which He was doing;
