JOHN
Chapter 10
John | Godbey | 10:1 | Truly, truly, I say unto you, the one coming not in through the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbing up some other way, he is a thief and a robber.
John | Godbey | 10:3 | To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear His voice: and he calls His own sheep by name, and leads them out.
John | Godbey | 10:4 | When He may put out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow Him: because they know his voice:
John | Godbey | 10:5 | but they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him: because they know not the voice of strangers.
John | Godbey | 10:6 | He spoke this parable to them: but they did not know what things He was speaking to them.
John | Godbey | 10:9 | I am the door: if any one may enter in through me, he shall be saved; he shall go in and come out, and find pasture.
John | Godbey | 10:10 | The thief does not come, but that he may steal, and slay, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.
John | Godbey | 10:12 | The hireling, and the one not being the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees away, and the wolf seizes and scatters them:
John | Godbey | 10:15 | as the Father knows Me, and I know the Father; and I lay down My soul for the sheep.
John | Godbey | 10:16 | And I have other sheep which are not of this fold: and it behooves me to bring them and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
John | Godbey | 10:17 | Therefore my Father loves Me, because I lay down my soul, that I may take it again.
John | Godbey | 10:18 | No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and power to receive it again. I received this commandment from my Father.
John | Godbey | 10:20 | Then many of them were saying, He has a demon, and is gone mad; why do you hear Him? Others were saying,
John | Godbey | 10:21 | These are not the words of a demonized man. Whether is a demon able to open the eyes of the blind?
John | Godbey | 10:24 | Then the Jews surrounded Him, and said to Him, How long do you take away our soul?
John | Godbey | 10:25 | If thou art the Christ, tell us openly. Jesus responded, I told you, and you do not believe: the works which I do in the name of my Father, these testify concerning me.
John | Godbey | 10:28 | and I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall pluck them out of my hand.
John | Godbey | 10:29 | The Father, who has given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to pluck them out of the hand of the Father.
John | Godbey | 10:32 | Jesus responded to them, I have shown unto you many beautiful works from the Father; on account of which of these do you stone me?
John | Godbey | 10:33 | The Jews responded to Him, We do not stone Thee for good work, but for blasphemy; because Thou, being a man, art making Thyself God.
John | Godbey | 10:34 | And Jesus responded to them, Is it not written in your law, that I said, Ye are gods?
John | Godbey | 10:35 | If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture is not able to be broken),
John | Godbey | 10:36 | whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, do you say; Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
John | Godbey | 10:38 | If I do, believe not me, believe the works: that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.
John | Godbey | 10:40 | And again He departed beyond the Jordan into the place where John was first baptizing; and remained there:
John | Godbey | 10:41 | and many came to Hint, and said, that John indeed did no miracle; but all things so many as John spoke concerning this One are true.
