138:1  Unto the end, a psalm of David. Lord, thou hast proved me, and known me:

138:1  I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.

138:2  Thou hast known my sitting down, and my rising up.

138:2  I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

138:2  klaním se ti před tvým svatým chrámem, tvému jménu vzdávám chválu za tvé milosrdenství a za tvou věrnost; svou řeč jsi vyvýšil nad každé své jméno.

138:2  Před tvým svatým chrámem klaním se a tvému jménu děkuji, že miluješ a že věrný jsi, žes i svou pověst převýšil tím, co jsi zaslíbil.

138:2  Budu se klanět ke tvému svatému chrámu, tvému jménu budu vzdávat chválu pro tvé milosrdenství a pro tvou věrnost, neboť jsi vyvýšil svou řeč nad každé své jméno.

138:2  Skláněti se budu k chrámu svatému tvému, a oslavovati jméno tvé pro milosrdenství tvé a pro pravdu tvou; nebo jsi zvelebil nade všecko jméno své a slovo své.

138:3  Vyslyšel jsi mě, když k tobě volal jsem – dodals mi odvahy!

138:6  Thy knowledge is become wonderful to me: it is high, and I cannot reach to it.

138:6  Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

138:7  I když jsem v soužení, ty mi zachováš život, vztáhneš ruku proti hněvu mých nepřátel a tvá pravice mě spasí.

138:7  I když procházím soužením, život mi daruješ; napřáhneš ruku k mým sokům zuřivým, tvou pravicí budu zachráněn.

138:12  But darkness shall not be dark to thee, and night shall be light all the day: the darkness thereof, and the light thereof are alike to thee.

138:12  Quia tenebræ non obscurabuntur a te, et nox sicut dies illuminabitur : sicut tenebræ ejus, ita et lumen ejus.

138:13  For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast protected me from my mother's womb.

138:14  I will praise thee, for thou art fearfully magnified: wonderful are thy works, and my soul knoweth right well.

138:15  My bone is not hidden from thee, which thou hast made in secret: and my substance in the lower parts of the earth.

138:16  Thy eyes did see my imperfect being, and in thy book all shall be written: days shall be formed, and no one in them.

138:17  But to me thy friends, O God, are made exceedingly honourable: their principality is exceedingly strengthened.

138:17  Mihi autem nimis honorificati sunt amici tui, Deus ; nimis confortatus est principatus eorum.

138:18  I will number them, and they shall be multiplied above the sand, I rose up and am still with thee.

138:18  Dinumerabo eos, et super arenam multiplicabuntur. Exsurrexi, et adhuc sum tecum.

138:19  If thou wilt kill the wicked, O God: ye men of blood, depart from me:

138:19  Si occideris, Deus, peccatores, viri sanguinum, declinate a me :

138:20  Because you say in thought: They shall receive thy cities in vain.

138:20  quia dicitis in cogitatione : Accipient in vanitate civitates tuas.

138:21  Have I not hated them, O Lord, that hated thee: and pined away because of thy enemies?

138:21  Nonne qui oderunt te, Domine, oderam, et super inimicos tuos tabescebam ?

138:22  I have hated them with a perfect hatred: and they are become enemies to me.

138:23  Prove me, O God, and know my heart: examine me, and know my paths.

138:24  And see if there be in me the way of iniquity: and lead me in the eternal way.
