Chapter 2
Roma DRC 2:1  Wherefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest. For wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself. For thou dost the same things which thou judgest.
Roma KJV 2:1  Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
Roma DRC 2:2  For we know that the judgment of God is, according to truth, against them that do such things.
Roma KJV 2:2  But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
Roma DRC 2:3  And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them who do such things and dost the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
Roma KJV 2:3  And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
Roma DRC 2:4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and patience and longsuffering? Knowest thou not that the benignity of God leadeth thee to penance?
Roma KJV 2:4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Roma DRC 2:5  But according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou treasurest up to thyself wrath, against the day of wrath and revelation of the just judgment of God:
Roma KJV 2:5  But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Roma DRC 2:6  Who will render to every man according to his works.
Roma VulgClem 2:6  qui reddet unicuique secundum opera ejus :
Roma KJV 2:6  Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
Roma DRC 2:7  To them indeed who, according to patience in good work, seek glory and honour and incorruption, eternal life:
Roma KJV 2:7  To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
Roma DRC 2:8  But to them that are contentious and who obey not the truth but give credit to iniquity, wrath and indignation.
Roma KJV 2:8  But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Roma DRC 2:9  Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that worketh evil: of the Jew first, and also of the Greek.
Roma VulgClem 2:9  Tribulatio et angustia in omnem animam hominis operantis malum, Judæi primum, et Græci :
Roma KJV 2:9  Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Roma DRC 2:10  But glory and honour and peace to every one that worketh good: to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Roma KJV 2:10  But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
Roma DRC 2:11  For there is no respect of persons with God.
Roma KJV 2:11  For there is no respect of persons with God.
Roma DRC 2:12  For whosoever have sinned without the law shall perish without the law: and whosoever have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law.
Roma KJV 2:12  For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
Roma DRC 2:13  For not the hearers of the law are just before God: but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Roma KJV 2:13  (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Roma DRC 2:14  For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature those things that are of the law; these, having not the law, are a law to themselves.
Roma KJV 2:14  For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Roma DRC 2:15  Who shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness to them: and their thoughts between themselves accusing or also defending one another,
Roma KJV 2:15  Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Roma DRC 2:16  In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
Roma VulgClem 2:16  in die, cum judicabit Deus occulta hominum, secundum Evangelium meum per Jesum Christum.
Roma KJV 2:16  In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
Roma DRC 2:17  But if thou art called a Jew and restest in the law and makest thy boast of God,
Roma KJV 2:17  Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
Roma DRC 2:18  And knowest his will and approvest the more profitable things, being instructed by the law:
Roma KJV 2:18  And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
Roma DRC 2:19  Art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,
Roma KJV 2:19  And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
Roma DRC 2:20  An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of infants, having the form of knowledge and of truth in the law.
Roma VulgClem 2:20  eruditorem insipientium, magistrum infantium, habentem formam scientiæ, et veritatis in lege.
Roma KJV 2:20  An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
Roma DRC 2:21  Thou therefore, that teachest another, teachest not thyself: thou, that preachest that men should not steal, stealest.
Roma KJV 2:21  Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
Roma DRC 2:22  Thou, that sayest men should not commit adultery, committest adultery: thou, that abhorrest idols, committest sacrilege:
Roma KJV 2:22  Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
Roma DRC 2:23  Thou, that makest thy boast of the law, by transgression of the law dishonourest God.
Roma KJV 2:23  Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
Roma DRC 2:24  (For the name of God through you is blasphemed among the Gentiles, as it is written.)
Roma KJV 2:24  For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
Roma DRC 2:25  Circumcision profiteth indeed, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Roma KJV 2:25  For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Roma DRC 2:26  If then, the uncircumcised keep the justices of the law, shall not this uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
Roma VulgClem 2:26  Si igitur præputium justitias legis custodiat, nonne præputium illius in circumcisionem reputabitur ?
Roma KJV 2:26  Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
Roma DRC 2:27  And shall not that which by nature is uncircumcision, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision art a transgressor of the law?
Roma KJV 2:27  And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
Roma DRC 2:28  For it is not he is a Jew, who is so outwardly: nor is that circumcision which is outwardly in the flesh.
Roma KJV 2:28  For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Roma DRC 2:29  But he is a Jew that is one inwardly and the circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter: whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Roma KJV 2:29  But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
