20:1  And Benadad, king of Syria, gathered together all his host, and there were two and thirty kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and going up, he fought against Samaria, and besieged it.

20:1  Aramejský král Ben-hadad shromáždil celé své vojsko a vytáhl společně s dvaatřiceti králi s koni a vozy, oblehl Samaří a dobýval je.

20:1  Aramejský král Ben–hadad shromáždil všechno své vojsko; bylo s ním třicet dva králů, koně i vozba. Vytáhl, oblehl Samaří a bojoval proti němu.

20:1  Tedy Benadad král Syrský, shromáždiv všecka vojska svá, a maje s sebou třidceti a dva krále, též koně i vozy, vytáhl a oblehl Samaří a dobýval ho.

20:4  Izraelský král odpověděl: „Jak poroučíš, králi, můj pane, jsem tvůj se vším, co mám.“

20:5  And the messengers came again, and said: Thus saith Benadad, who sent us unto thee: Thy silver and thy gold, and thy wives and thy children, thou shalt deliver up to me.

20:5  And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Ben–hadad, saying, Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;

20:5  Poslové přišli znovu a řekli: „Toto praví Ben-hadad: Poslal jsem k tobě se vzkazem: Vydej mi své stříbro i své zlato, své ženy i své syny.

20:5  Potom přišli poslové znovu se slovy: „Takto praví Ben-hadad: Vzkázal jsem ti: ‚Dáš mi své stříbro a zlato i své ženy a děti.‘

20:5  Poslové se vrátili a řekli: Toto praví Ben–hadad: Poslal jsem k tobě se slovy: Dej mi své stříbro a své zlato, své ženy i své syny.

20:5  Opět navrátivše se poslové, řekli: Takto praví Benadad: Poslal jsem k tobě, aťby řekli: Stříbro své a zlato své, ženy své i syny své dáš mi.

20:5  And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Ben-hadad, saying, Although I have sent to thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver to me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;

20:5  The messengers came again, and said, "Ben Hadad says, 'I sent indeed to you, saying, "You shall deliver me your silver, and your gold, and your wives, and your children;

20:5  And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaks Benhadad, saying, Although I have sent to you, saying, You shall deliver me your silver, and your gold, and your wives, and your children;

20:5  Revertentesque nuntii, dixerunt : Hæc dicit Benadad, qui misit nos ad te : Argentum tuum, et aurum tuum, et uxores tuas, et filios tuos, dabis mihi.

20:6  To morrow, therefore, at this same hour, I will send my servants to thee, and they shall search thy house, and the houses of thy servants: and all that pleaseth them, they shall put in their hands, and take away.

20:6  Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.

20:6  A proto zítra v tento čas pošlu k tobě své služebníky. Prohledají tvůj dům i domy tvých služebníků a všechno, co je žádoucí tvým očím, zabaví a vezmou.“

20:6  Zítra touto dobou k tobě navíc pošlu své služebníky, aby prohledali tvůj dům i domy tvých služebníků a zabavili a odnesli, cokoli se jim zalíbí.“

20:6  Ale zítra touto dobou k tobě pošlu své otroky a prohledají tvůj dům i domy tvých otroků a všechno, co je vzácné tvým očím, vezmou s sebou a poberou.

20:6  Ale však o tomto čase zítra pošli služebníky své k tobě, aby přehledali dům tvůj i domy služebníků tvých, a oniť všecko, cožkoli máš nejlepšího, vezmouce v ruce své, poberou.

20:6  Yet I will send my servants to thee to-morrow about this time, and they shall search thy house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, [that] whatever is pleasant in thy eyes, they shall take [it] in their hand, and carry [it] away.

20:6  but I will send my servants to you tomorrow about this time, and they shall search your house, and the houses of your servants; and it shall be, that whatever is pleasant in your eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away."'"

20:6  Yet I will send my servants to you to morrow about this time, and they shall search your house, and the houses of your servants; and it shall be, that whatever is pleasant in your eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.

20:7  And the king of Israel called all the ancients of the land, and said: Mark, and see that he layeth snares for us. For he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver and gold: and I said not nay.

20:7  Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.

20:7  Tu svolal izraelský král všechny starší země. a řekl: „Uvažte prosím a pohleďte, jaké zlo ten člověk chystá! Poslal ke mně pro mé ženy i pro mé syny, pro mé stříbro i pro mé zlato a já jsem mu nic neodepřel.“

20:7  Izraelský král svolal všechny stařešiny země a řekl jim: „Sami vidíte, že ten člověk chce jen škodit. Když si ke mně poslal pro mé ženy a děti i pro mé stříbro a zlato, neodmítl jsem mu to.“

20:7  Izraelský král zavolal všechny starší země a řekl: ⌈Rozvažte a pohleďte,⌉ že tento muž usiluje o zlo. Vždyť ke mně poslal pro mé ženy a mé syny, pro mé stříbro a pro mé zlato a neodepřel jsem mu.

20:7  A tak povolav král Izraelský všech starších země té, řekl: Posuďte medle, a vizte, jakť ten zlého hledá; nebo poslal ke mně pro ženy mé a pro syny mé, též pro stříbro mé i pro zlato mé, a neodepřel jsem jemu.

20:7  Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this [man] seeketh mischief: for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold, and I denied him not.

20:7  Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, "Please notice how this man seeks mischief; for he sent to me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I did not deny him."

20:7  Vocavit autem rex Israël omnes seniores terræ, et ait : Animadvertite, et videte quoniam insidietur nobis : misit enim ad me pro uxoribus meis, et filiis, et pro argento et auro : et non abnui.

20:8  And all the ancients, and all the people said to him: Hearken not to him, nor consent to him.

20:8  And all the elders and all the people said unto him, Hearken not unto him, nor consent.

20:8  Všichni starší i všechen lid mu řekli: „Neposlouchej ho a nepřivoluj mu.“

20:8  „Neposlechni ho!“ radili mu stařešinové i všichni ostatní. „Nepodvoluj se!“

20:8  And all the elders and all the people said to him, Hearken not [to him], nor consent.

20:8  Dixeruntque omnes majores natu, et universus populus, ad eum : Non audias, neque acquiescas illi.

20:9  Wherefore he answered the messengers of Benadad: Tell my lord, the king: All that thou didst send for to me, thy servant at first, I will do: but this thing I cannot do.

20:9  Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Ben–hadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.

20:9  Odpověděl tedy Ben-hadadovým poslům: „Řekněte králi, mému pánu: Všechno, kvůli čemu jsi k svému služebníku poslal poprvé, učiním, ale tuto věc učinit nemohu.“ Poslové odešli a vyřídili odpověď.

20:9  A tak Ben-hadadovým poslům odpověděl: „Vyřiďte mému pánu a králi: Splním všechno, co jsi svému služebníku vzkázal prve. Toto ale splnit nemohu.“ S touto odpovědí pak poslové odešli.

20:9  Nato řekl Ben–hadadovým poslům: Řekněte mému pánu a králi: Všechno, co jsi vzkázal svému otroku poprvé, udělám, ale tuto věc učinit nemohu. Poslové odešli a takto odpověděli.

20:9  Protož odpověděl poslům Benadadovým: Povězte pánu mému králi: Všecko to, o čež jsi poslal k služebníku svému prvé, učiním, ale této věci učiniti nemohu. Takž odešli poslové, a donesli mu tu odpověd.

20:9  Wherefore he said to the messengers of Ben-hadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first, I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.

20:9  Therefore he said to the messengers of Ben Hadad, "Tell my lord the king, 'All that you sent for to your servant at the first I will do; but this thing I cannot do.'" The messengers departed, and brought him back the message.

20:9  Why he said to the messengers of Benhadad, Tell my lord the king, All that you did send for to your servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.

20:9  Respondit itaque nuntiis Benadad : Dicite domino meo regi : Omnia propter quæ misisti ad me servum tuum in initio, faciam : hanc autem rem facere non possum.

20:10  And the messengers returning brought him word. And he sent again, and said: Such and such things may the gods do to me, and more may they add, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.

20:10  And Ben–hadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.

20:10  Nato mu Ben-hadad vzkázal: „Ať se mnou bohové udělají, co chtějí, jestliže zbude ze Samaří tolik prachu, aby každý z lidu, který se mnou přitáhl, mohl jej nabrat do hrsti!“

20:10  Ben-hadad mu na to vzkázal: „Ať mě bohové potrestají a ještě mi přidají, jestli v Samaří bude dost prachu, aby každý z mých mužů nabral aspoň trochu!“

20:10  Ben–hadad mu vzkázal: Tak ať mi učiní bohové, a ještě přidají, jestliže bude dost prachu ze Samaří na hrst pro všechen lid, který jde v mých stopách.

20:10  Ještě poslal k němu Benadad a řekl: Toto ať mi učiní bohové a toto ať přidadí, dostane-li se prachu Samařského do hrstí všeho lidu, kterýž jest se mnou.

20:10  And Ben-hadad sent to him, and said, The gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.

20:10  Reversique nuntii retulerunt ei. Qui remisit, et ait : Hæc faciant mihi dii, et hæc addant, si suffecerit pulvis Samariæ pugillis omnis populi qui sequitur me.

20:11  And the king of Israel answering, said: Tell him: Let not the girded boast himself as the ungirded.

20:11  And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off.

20:11  Izraelský král odpověděl: „Vyřiďte mu: Ať se nechlubí ten, kdo se opásává, jako ten, kdo pás odkládá!“

20:11  Izraelský král mu nechal vyřídit: „Ať se ten, kdo zbroj obléká, nechlubí jako ten, kdo už ji svléká!“

20:11  Izraelský král odpověděl: Řekněte mu: ⌈Ať se ten, kdo se opásává mečem, nechlubí jako ten, kdo si ho odepíná.⌉

20:11  Zase odpověděl král Izraelský a řekl: Povězte, ať se nechlubí ten, kterýž se strojí do zbroje, jako ten, kterýž svláčí zbroj.

20:11  And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell [him], Let not him that girdeth on [his harness] boast himself as he that putteth it off.

20:11  The king of Israel answered, "Tell him, 'Do not let him who puts on his armor brag like he who takes it off.'"

20:11  And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girds on his harness boast himself as he that puts it off.

20:11  Et respondens rex Israël, ait : Dicite ei : Ne glorietur, accinctus æque ut discinctus.

20:12  And it came to pass, when Benadad heard this word, that he and the kings were drinking in pavilions, and he said to his servants: Beset the city. And they beset it.

20:12  And it came to pass, when Ben–hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.

20:12  Jak Ben-hadad to slovo uslyšel, právě totiž popíjel, on i králové, ve stanech, rozkázal svým služebníkům: „Nastupte!“ A nastoupili proti městu.

20:12  Ben-hadad právě ve stanech popíjel se svými králi. Jakmile uslyšel ten vzkaz, rozkázal svým mužům: „Nástup!“ a tak nastoupili proti městu.

20:12  I stalo se, když uslyšel tuto zprávu -- popíjel právě ⌈s králi⌉ ve stanech -- že řekl svým otrokům: ⌈Připravte se k útoku.⌉ A připravili se k útoku na město.

20:12  I stalo se, když uslyšel tu řeč, (nebo pil on i králové v staních), že řekl služebníkům svým: Přitrhněte. I přitrhli k městu.

20:12  And it came to pass, when [Ben-hadad] heard this message as he [was] drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said to his servants, Set [yourselves in array]. And they set [themselves in array] against the city.

20:12  It happened, when Ben Hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings, in the pavilions, that he said to his servants, "Prepare to attack!" They prepared to attack the city.

20:12  And it came to pass, when Ben-hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said to his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.

20:12  Factum est autem cum audisset Benadad verbum istud, bibebat ipse et reges in umbraculis : et ait servis suis : Circumdate civitatem. Et circumdederunt eam.

20:13  And behold a prophet coming to Achab, king of Israel, said to him: Thus saith the Lord: Hast thou seen all this exceeding great multitude? behold I will deliver them into thy hand this day: that thou mayst know that I am the Lord.

20:13  And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

20:13  I přistoupil k izraelskému králi Achabovi jeden prorok a řekl: „Toto praví Hospodin: Vidíš celé toto veliké množství? Ještě dnes ti je dám do rukou a poznáš, že já jsem Hospodin.“

20:13  Mezitím přišel k izraelskému králi Achabovi jeden prorok se slovy: „Tak praví Hospodin: Vidíš to ohromné množství vojska? Hle, dnes ti je vydám do rukou, abys poznal, že já jsem Hospodin.“

20:13  A hle, nějaký prorok přistoupil k izraelskému králi Achabovi a řekl: Toto praví Hospodin: Vidíš celý ten velký dav? Hle, vydám ho dnes do tvé ruky a poznáš, že já jsem Hospodin.

20:13  A hle, prorok nějaký přišed k Achabovi králi Izraelskému, řekl: Toto praví Hospodin: Zdaliž jsi neviděl všeho množství tohoto velikého? Hle, já dám je dnes v ruku tvou, abys poznal, že já jsem Hospodin.

20:13  And behold, there came a prophet to Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thy hand this day; and thou shalt know that I [am] the LORD.

20:13  Behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel, and said, "Thus says the Lord, 'Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand this day; and you shall know that I am the Lord.'"

20:13  And, behold, there came a prophet to Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus said the LORD, Have you seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into your hand this day; and you shall know that I am the LORD.

20:13  Et ecce propheta unus accedens ad Achab regem Israël, ait ei : Hæc dicit Dominus : Certe vidisti omnem multitudinem hanc nimiam ? ecce ego tradam eam in manu tua hodie, ut scias quia ego sum Dominus.

20:14  And Achab said: By whom? And he said to him: Thus saith the Lord: By the servants of the princes of the provinces. And he said: Who shall begin to fight? And he said: Thou.

20:14  And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the Lord, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.

20:14  Tu řekl Achab: „Skrze koho?“ On odvětil: „Toto praví Hospodin: Skrze družinu velitelů krajů.“ Otázal se: „Kdo svede bitvu?“ Prorok odvětil: „Ty!“

20:14  „Jak se to stane?“ zeptal se Achab. „Tak praví Hospodin: Skrze mladíky sloužící u krajských hejtmanů,“ odpověděl prorok. „Kdo zahájí útok?“ zeptal se ještě. „Ty,“ odpověděl prorok.

20:14  Achab se zeptal: Skrze koho? Odpověděl: Toto praví Hospodin: Skrze služebníky velitelů provincií. Zeptal se: Kdo rozpoutá boj? Odpověděl: Ty.

20:14  A když řekl Achab: Skrze koho? odpověděl on: Tak praví Hospodin: Skrze služebníky knížat krajů. Řekl ještě: Kdo svede tu bitvu? Odpověděl: Ty.

20:14  And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, [Even] by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.

20:14  Ahab said, "By whom?" He said, "Thus says the Lord, 'By the young men of the princes of the provinces.'" Then he said, "Who shall begin the battle?" He answered, "You."

20:14  And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus said the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, You.

20:14  Et ait Achab : Per quem ? Dixitque ei : Hæc dicit Dominus : Per pedissequos principum provinciarum. Et ait : Quis incipiet præliari ? Et ille dixit : Tu.

20:15  So he mustered the servants of the princes of the provinces, and he found the number of two hundred and thirty-two: and he mustered after them the people, all the children of Israel, seven thousand:

20:15  Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty two: and after them he numbered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.

20:15  Achab dal nastoupit družině velitelů krajů: bylo jich dvě stě třicet dva. Po nich dal nastoupit veškerému lidu, všem Izraelcům; bylo jich sedm tisíc.

20:15  Nechal tedy nastoupit mladíky od krajských hejtmanů a bylo jich 232. Po nich nechal nastoupit celé izraelské vojsko a bylo jich 7000.

20:15  Nato spočítal služebníky velitelů provincií a bylo jich dvě stě třicet dva. Po nich spočítal všechen lid. Všech synů Izraele bylo sedm tisíc.

20:15  A protož sečtl služebníky knížat krajů, jichž bylo dvě stě třidceti a dva; po nich sečtl i všecken lid všech synů Izraelských, sedm tisíců.

20:15  Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty two: and after them he numbered all the people, [even] all the children of Israel, [being] seven thousand.
