Chapter 25
Jere DRC 25:1  The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Juda, in the fourth year of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, (the same is the first year of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon,)
Jere KJV 25:1  The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;
Jere DRC 25:2  Which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Juda, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:
Jere VulgClem 25:2  quod locutus est Jeremias propheta ad omnem populum Juda, et ad universos habitatores Jerusalem, dicens :
Jere KJV 25:2  The which Jeremiah the prophet spake unto all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,
Jere DRC 25:3  From the thirteenth year of Josias the son of Ammon king of Juda until this day: this is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising before day, and speaking, and you have not hearkened.
Jere KJV 25:3  From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.
Jere DRC 25:4  And the Lord hath sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising early, and sending, and you have not hearkened, nor inclined your ears to hear.
Jere KJV 25:4  And the Lord hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear.
Jere DRC 25:5  When he said: Return ye, every one from his evil way, and from your wicked devices, and you shall dwell in the land which the Lord hath given to you, and your fathers for ever and ever.
Jere VulgClem 25:5  cum diceret : Revertimini unusquisque a via sua mala, et a pessimis cogitationibus vestris, et habitabitis in terra quam dedit Dominus vobis et patribus vestris, a sæculo et usque in sæculum :
Jere KJV 25:5  They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:
Jere DRC 25:6  And go not after strange gods to serve them, and adore them: nor provoke me to wrath by the works of your hands, and I will not afflict you.
Jere KJV 25:6  And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.
Jere DRC 25:7  And you have not heard me, saith the Lord, that you might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, to your own hurt.
Jere VulgClem 25:7  Et non audistis me, dicit Dominus, ut me ad iracundiam provocaretis in operibus manuum vestrarum, in malum vestrum.
Jere KJV 25:7  Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the Lord; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.
Jere DRC 25:8  Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts: Because you have not heard my words:
Jere VulgClem 25:8  Propterea hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Pro eo quod non audistis verba mea,
Jere KJV 25:8  Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words,
Jere DRC 25:9  Behold I will send, and take all the kindreds of the north, saith the Lord, and Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon my servant: and I will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all the nations that are round about it: and I will destroy them, and make them an astonishment and a hissing, and perpetual desolations.
Jere KJV 25:9  Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the Lord, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.
Jere DRC 25:10  And I will take away from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the mill and the light of the lamp.
Jere KJV 25:10  Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.
Jere DRC 25:11  And all this land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment: and all these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
Jere VulgClem 25:11  Et erit universa terra hæc in solitudinem, et in stuporem : et servient omnes gentes istæ regi Babylonis septuaginta annis.
Jere KJV 25:11  And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
Jere DRC 25:12  And when the seventy years shall be expired, I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans: and I will make it perpetual desolations.
Jere VulgClem 25:12  Cumque impleti fuerint septuaginta anni, visitabo super regem Babylonis et super gentem illam, dicit Dominus, iniquitatem eorum, et super terram Chaldæorum, et ponam illam in solitudines sempiternas.
Jere KJV 25:12  And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.
Jere DRC 25:13  And I will bring upon that land all my words, that I have spoken against it, all that is written in this book, all that Jeremiah hath prophesied against all nations:
Jere VulgClem 25:13  Et adducam super terram illam omnia verba mea, quæ locutus sum contra eam, omne quod scriptum est in libro isto, quæcumque prophetavit Jeremias adversum omnes gentes :
Jere KJV 25:13  And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.
Jere DRC 25:14  For they have served them, whereas they were many nations, and great kings: and I will repay them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their hands.
Jere KJV 25:14  For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.
Jere DRC 25:15  For thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Take the cup of wine of this fury at my hand: and thou shalt make all the nations to drink thereof, into which I shall send thee.
Jere VulgClem 25:15  Quia sic dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël : Sume calicem vini furoris hujus de manu mea, et propinabis de illo cunctis gentibus ad quas ego mittam te.
Jere KJV 25:15  For thus saith the Lord God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.
Jere DRC 25:16  And they shall drink, and be troubled, and be mad because of the sword, which I shall send among them.
Jere KJV 25:16  And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.
Jere DRC 25:17  And I took the cup at the hand of the Lord, and I presented it to all the nations to drink of it, to which the Lord sent me:
Jere VulgClem 25:17  Et accepi calicem de manu Domini, et propinavi cunctis gentibus ad quas misit me Dominus,
Jere KJV 25:17  Then took I the cup at the Lord’s hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the Lord had sent me:
Jere DRC 25:18  To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Juda, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof: to make them a desolation, and an astonishment, and a hissing, and a curse, as it is at this day.
Jere KJV 25:18  To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;
Jere DRC 25:19  Pharao the king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people,
Jere VulgClem 25:19  Pharaoni regi Ægypti, et servis ejus, et principibus ejus, et omni populo ejus :
Jere KJV 25:19  Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;
Jere DRC 25:20  And all in general: all the kings of the land of Ausitis, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ascalon, and Gaza, and Accaron, and the remnant of Azotus.
Jere VulgClem 25:20  et universis generaliter : cunctis regibus terræ Ausitidis, et cunctis regibus terræ Philisthiim, et Ascaloni, et Gazæ, et Accaron, et reliquiis Azoti :
Jere KJV 25:20  And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,
Jere DRC 25:21  And Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon.
Jere VulgClem 25:21  et Idumææ, et Moab, et filiis Ammon :
Jere KJV 25:21  Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon,
Jere DRC 25:22  And all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon: and the kings of the land of the islands that are beyond the sea.
Jere KJV 25:22  And all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles which are beyond the sea,
Jere DRC 25:23  And Dedan, and Thema, and Buz, and all that have their hair cut round.
Jere KJV 25:23  Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost corners,
Jere DRC 25:24  And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the west, that dwell in the desert.
Jere KJV 25:24  And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert,
Jere DRC 25:25  And all the kings of Zambri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes:
Jere VulgClem 25:25  et cunctis regibus Zambri, et cunctis regibus Elam, et cunctis regibus Medorum :
Jere KJV 25:25  And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes,
Jere DRC 25:26  And all the kings of the north far and near, every one against his brother: and all the kingdoms of the earth, which are upon the face thereof: and the king of Sesac shall drink after them.
Jere KJV 25:26  And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.
Jere DRC 25:27  And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel: Drink ye, and be drunken, and vomit: and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword, which I shall send among you.
Jere KJV 25:27  Therefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Drink ye, and be drunken, and spue, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.
Jere DRC 25:28  And if they refuse to take the cup at thy hand to drink, thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Drinking you shall drink:
Jere VulgClem 25:28  Cumque noluerint accipere calicem de manu tua ut bibant, dices ad eos : Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Bibentes bibetis :
Jere KJV 25:28  And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Ye shall certainly drink.
Jere DRC 25:29  For behold I begin to bring evil on the city wherein my name is called upon: and shall you be as innocent and escape free? you shall not escape free: for I will call for the sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hosts.
Jere VulgClem 25:29  quia ecce in civitate in qua invocatum est nomen meum ego incipiam affligere, et vos quasi innocentes et immunes eritis ? non eritis immunes : gladium enim ego voco super omnes habitatores terræ, dicit Dominus exercituum.
Jere KJV 25:29  For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hosts.
Jere DRC 25:30  And thou shalt prophesy unto them all these words, and thou shalt say to them: I The Lord shall roar from on high, and shall utter his voice from his holy habitation: roaring he shall roar upon the place of his beauty: the shout as it were of them that tread grapes shall be given out against all the inhabitants of the earth.
Jere KJV 25:30  Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The Lord shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
Jere DRC 25:31  The noise is come even to the ends of the earth: for the Lord entereth into judgment with the nations: he entereth into judgment with all flesh; the wicked I have delivered up to the sword, saith the Lord.
Impios tradidi gladio, dicit Dominus.
Jere KJV 25:31  A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord.
Jere DRC 25:32  Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Behold evil shall go forth from nation to nation: and a great whirlwind shall go forth from the ends of the earth.
Jere VulgClem 25:32  Hæc dicit Dominus exercituum : Ecce afflictio egredietur de gente in gentem, et turbo magnus egredietur a summitatibus terræ.
Jere KJV 25:32  Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
Jere DRC 25:33  And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end thereof: they shall not be lamented, and they shall not be gathered up, nor buried: they shall lie as dung upon the face of the earth.
Jere KJV 25:33  And the slain of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.
Jere DRC 25:34  Howl, ye shepherds, and cry: and sprinkle yourselves with ashes, ye leaders of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and your dispersion are accomplished, and you shall fall like precious vessels.
Jere KJV 25:34  Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel.
Jere DRC 25:35  And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the leaders of the flock to save themselves.
Jere VulgClem 25:35  Et peribit fuga a pastoribus, et salvatio ab optimatibus gregis.
Jere KJV 25:35  And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.
Jere DRC 25:36  A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and a howling of the principal of the flock: because the Lord hath wasted their pastures.
Jere VulgClem 25:36  Vox clamoris pastorum, et ululatus optimatum gregis, quia vastavit Dominus pascua eorum :
Jere KJV 25:36  A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the Lord hath spoiled their pasture.
Jere DRC 25:37  And the fields of peace have been silent because of the fierce anger of the Lord.
Jere VulgClem 25:37  et conticuerunt arva pacis a facie iræ furoris Domini.
Jere KJV 25:37  And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the Lord.
Jere DRC 25:38  He hath forsaken his covert as the lion, for the land is laid waste because of the wrath of the dove, and because of the fierce anger of the Lord.
Jere VulgClem 25:38  Dereliquit quasi leo umbraculum suum, quia facta est terra eorum in desolationem a facie iræ columbæ, et a facie iræ furoris Domini.
Jere KJV 25:38  He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger.
