Chapter 29
Job DRC 29:1  Job also added, taking up his parable, and said:
Job VulgClem 29:1  Addidit quoque Job, assumens parabolam suam, et dixit :
Job KJV 29:1  Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
Job DRC 29:2  Who will grant me, that I might be according to the months past, according to the days in which God kept me?
Job VulgClem 29:2  Quis mihi tribuat ut sim juxta menses pristinos, secundum dies quibus Deus custodiebat me ?
Job KJV 29:2  Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
Job DRC 29:3  When his lamp shined over my head, and I walked by his light in darkness?
Job VulgClem 29:3  Quando splendebat lucerna ejus super caput meum, et ad lumen ejus ambulabam in tenebris :
Job KJV 29:3  When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
Job DRC 29:4  As I was in the days of my youth, when God was secretly in my tabernacle?
Job VulgClem 29:4  sicut fui in diebus adolescentiæ meæ, quando secreto Deus erat in tabernaculo meo :
Job KJV 29:4  As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
Job DRC 29:5  When the Almighty was with me: and my servants round about me?
Job VulgClem 29:5  quando erat Omnipotens mecum, et in circuitu meo pueri mei :
Job KJV 29:5  When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;
Job DRC 29:6  When I washed my feet with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil?
Job VulgClem 29:6  quando lavabam pedes meos butyro, et petra fundebat mihi rivos olei :
Job KJV 29:6  When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;
Job DRC 29:7  When I went out to the gate of the city, and in the street they prepared me a chair?
Job VulgClem 29:7  quando procedebam ad portam civitatis, et in platea parabant cathedram mihi.
Job KJV 29:7  When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!
Job DRC 29:8  The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the old men rose up and stood.
Job VulgClem 29:8  Videbant me juvenes, et abscondebantur : et senes assurgentes stabant.
Job KJV 29:8  The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.
Job DRC 29:9  The princes ceased to speak, and laid the finger on their mouth.
Job VulgClem 29:9  Principes cessabant loqui, et digitum superponebant ori suo.
Job KJV 29:9  The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.
Job DRC 29:10  The rulers held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to their throat.
Job VulgClem 29:10  Vocem suam cohibebant duces, et lingua eorum gutturi suo adhærebat.
Job KJV 29:10  The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.
Job DRC 29:11  The ear that heard me blessed me, and the eye that saw me gave witness to me:
Job VulgClem 29:11  Auris audiens beatificabat me, et oculus videns testimonium reddebat mihi :
Job KJV 29:11  When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
Job DRC 29:12  Because I had delivered the poor man that cried out; and the fatherless, that had no helper.
Job VulgClem 29:12  eo quod liberassem pauperem vociferantem, et pupillum cui non esset adjutor.
Job KJV 29:12  Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.
Job DRC 29:13  The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me, and I comforted the heart of the widow.
Job VulgClem 29:13  Benedictio perituri super me veniebat, et cor viduæ consolatus sum.
Job KJV 29:13  The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.
Job DRC 29:14  I was clad with justice: and I clothed myself with my judgment, as with a robe and a diadem.
Job VulgClem 29:14  Justitia indutus sum, et vestivi me, sicut vestimento et diademate, judicio meo.
Job KJV 29:14  I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
Job DRC 29:15  I was an eye to the blind, and a foot to the lame.
Job VulgClem 29:15  Oculus fui cæco, et pes claudo.
Job KJV 29:15  I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.
Job DRC 29:16  I was the father of the poor: and the cause which I knew not, I searched out most diligently.
Job VulgClem 29:16  Pater eram pauperum, et causam quam nesciebam diligentissime investigabam.
Job KJV 29:16  I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
Job DRC 29:17  I broke the jaws of the wicked man, and out of his teeth I took away the prey.
Job VulgClem 29:17  Conterebam molas iniqui, et de dentibus illius auferebam prædam.
Job KJV 29:17  And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
Job DRC 29:18  And I said: I shall die in my nest, and as a palm tree shall multiply my days.
Job VulgClem 29:18  Dicebamque : In nidulo meo moriar, et sicut palma multiplicabo dies.
Job KJV 29:18  Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.
Job DRC 29:19  My root is opened beside the waters, and dew shall continue in my harvest.
Job VulgClem 29:19  Radix mea aperta est secus aquas, et ros morabitur in messione mea.
Job KJV 29:19  My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.
Job DRC 29:20  My glory shall always be renewed, and my bow in my hand shall be repaired.
Job VulgClem 29:20  Gloria mea semper innovabitur, et arcus meus in manu mea instaurabitur.
Job KJV 29:20  My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.
Job DRC 29:21  They that heard me, waited for my sentence, and being attentive held their peace at my counsel.
Job VulgClem 29:21  Qui me audiebant, expectabant sententiam, et intenti tacebant ad consilium meum.
Job KJV 29:21  Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
Job DRC 29:22  To my words they durst add nothing, and my speech dropped upon them.
Job VulgClem 29:22  Verbis meis addere nihil audebant, et super illos stillabat eloquium meum.
Job KJV 29:22  After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
Job DRC 29:23  They waited for me as for rain, and they opened their mouth as for a latter shower.
Job VulgClem 29:23  Expectabant me sicut pluviam, et os suum aperiebant quasi ad imbrem serotinum.
Job KJV 29:23  And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.
Job DRC 29:24  If at any time I laughed on them, they believed not, and the light of my countenance fell not on earth.
Job VulgClem 29:24  Siquando ridebam ad eos, non credebant : et lux vultus mei non cadebat in terram.
Job KJV 29:24  If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.
Job DRC 29:25  If I had a mind to go to them, I sat first, and when I sat as a king, with his army standing about him, yet I was a comforter of them that mourned.
Job VulgClem 29:25  Si voluissem ire ad eos, sedebam primus : cumque sederem quasi rex, circumstante exercitu, eram tamen mœrentium consolator.
Job KJV 29:25  I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
