2:2  temný a chmurný den, den zahalený soumrakem! Jako se úsvit rozlévá po horách, blíží se veliká a mocná armáda, jaká odpradávna nikdy nebyla a navěky už nebude žádná podobná:

2:2  Den temnoty a soumraku, den mračna a husté temnoty, jako rozbřesk se rozprostírá na horách; početný a mocný národ, jakého nebylo od věků ani po něm nebude po mnoho let, z generace na generaci.

2:11  Sám Hospodin dá povel svému vojsku. Jeho šiky jsou nesčíslné. Mocný je ten, kdo vykoná jeho rozkaz. Hospodinův den je veliký a přehrozný! Kdo mu odolá?

2:11  Hospodin sám pak burácí v čele své armády; jeho tábor je obrovský, řipraven plnit jeho rozkazy. Veliký, vskutku hrozný je Hospodinův den! Kdo jej může snést?

2:11  Hospodin pozvedl hlas před svým vojskem, neboť jeho tábor je velmi velký, neboť mocný je ten, kdo činí jeho slovo. Ano, Hospodinův den je velký, velice hrozný. Kdo ho vydrží?

2:11  Hospodin pak sám vydá hlas svůj před vojskem svým, proto že velmi veliký bude tábor jeho, proto že silný ten, kdož vykoná slovo jeho. (Nebo veliký bude den Hospodinův a hrozný náramně), i kdož jej bude moci snésti?

2:14  Kdo ví, nepojme-li ho opět lítost a nezanechá-li za sebou požehnání, a zase budou obětní dary a úlitby pro Hospodina, vašeho Boha.

2:14  Kdo ví? Třeba se rozmyslí, pohnut lítostí, a požehnání nám zanechá, aby zas byly moučné oběti a úlitby pro Hospodina, vašeho Boha.

2:14  Kdo ví, snad se odvrátí, slituje a zanechá za sebou požehnání. ⌈Přídavná a litá oběť patří Hospodinu,⌉ vašemu Bohu.

2:14  Kdo ví, neobrátí-li se a nebude-li želeti, a nezůstaví-li po něm požehnání, oběti suché a mokré Hospodinu Bohu vašemu.

2:17  Kněží, kteří Hospodinu sloužíte, plačte mezi síní a oltářem! Proste: „Ušetři, Hospodine, svůj lid, nevydávej posměchu své dědictví, ať nejsou pořekadlem pro pohany! Proč se má říkat mezi národy: ‚Jejich Bůh? Co je s ním?‘“

2:17  ⌈Mezi předsíní a oltářem⌉ ať pláčou kněží, Hospodinovi služebníci. Ať říkají: Hospodine, ⌈pohleď s lítostí na⌉ svůj lid a nevydávej své dědictví v potupu, za pořekadlo mezi pohanskými národy. Proč by měli říkat mezi národy: Kde je jejich Bůh?

2:17  Kněží, služebníci Hospodinovi, ať plačí mezi síňcí a oltářem, a řeknou: Odpusť, ó Hospodine, lidu svému, a nevydávej dědictví svého v pohanění, tak aby nad nimi panovati měli pohané. Proč mají říkati mezi národy: Kde jest Bůh jejich?
