Chapter 17
Matt Godbey 17:1  And after six days Jesus takes Peter, and James, and John his brother, and carries them up into an exceedingly high mountain privately.
Matt Godbey 17:2  And was transfigured before them, and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became white as the light.
Matt Godbey 17:3  And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared unto them, talking with Him.
Matt Godbey 17:4  And Peter responding, said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: it you will, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
Matt Godbey 17:5  He still speaking, behold, a white cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am delighted; hear ye Him.
Matt Godbey 17:6  And the disciples, hearing, fell on their face, and feared exceedingly.
Matt Godbey 17:7  And Jesus came to them and touching them said, Arise, and fear not.
Matt Godbey 17:8  And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus only.
Matt Godbey 17:9  And they coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no one, until the Son of man may rise from the dead.
Matt Godbey 17:10  And His disciples asked Him, saying, Why then do the scribes say that it behooves Elijah to come first?
Matt Godbey 17:11  And Jesus responding said to them, Elijah indeed comes, and will restore all things:
Matt Godbey 17:12  but I say unto you, that Elijah has already come, and they recognized Him not, but did unto Him so many things as they wished; thus the Son of man is also about to suffer by them.
Matt Godbey 17:13  Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them concerning John the Baptist.
Matt Godbey 17:14  And they having come to the multitude, the man came to Him, worshiping Him on his knees,
Matt Godbey 17:15  and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son, because he is a lunatic and suffers terribly: for frequently he falls into the fire, and frequently into the water.
Matt Godbey 17:16  And I brought him to thy disciples, and they were not able to heal him.
Matt Godbey 17:17  And Jesus responding said: O, faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? bring him hither to me.
Matt Godbey 17:18  And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out from him, and the child was healed from that hour.
Matt Godbey 17:19  Then the disciples coming to Jesus privately, said, Wherefore were we not able to cast him out?
Matt Godbey 17:20  and Jesus says to them, On account of your unbelief. For truly I say unto you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.
Matt Godbey 17:22  And they sojourning in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men.
Matt Godbey 17:23  And they will kill Him; and He will rise the third day. And they were grieved exceedingly.
Matt Godbey 17:24  And they having come into Capernaum, those receiving the double drachma came to Peter, and said, Does your teacher pay the double drachma?
Matt Godbey 17:25  He says, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, What seems to you, Simon? from whom do the kings of the earth receive toll or tribute? from their own sons or aliens?
Matt Godbey 17:26  And he saying from aliens, Jesus said to him, Then the sons are free.
Matt Godbey 17:27  But in order that we may not offend them, going to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the first fish coming up; and opening its mouth, you will find a stater: having received it, give it to them for me and thee.
