ACTS
Chapter 1
Acts | RKJNT | 1:1 | In my former treatise, O Theophilus, I wrote of all that Jesus began to do and teach,
Acts | RKJNT | 1:2 | Until the day he was taken up, after he had, through the Holy Spirit, given commands to the apostles whom he had chosen.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:3 | To them he showed himself alive after his suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them over forty days, and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God:
Acts | RKJNT | 1:4 | And, while eating with them, commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, of which, he said, you have heard me speak.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:5 | For John baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:6 | When they had come together, they asked him, saying, Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?
Acts | RKJNT | 1:7 | And he said to them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has fixed by his own authority.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:8 | But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you: and you shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and to the remotest part of the earth.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:9 | And when he had spoken these things, while they watched, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:10 | And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Acts | RKJNT | 1:11 | Who said, You men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, shall come in the same way that you have seen him go into heaven.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:12 | Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:13 | And when they had come in, they went into an upper room where they were staying; Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:14 | They all continued with one accord in prayer, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:15 | In those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (together they were about a hundred and twenty,)
Acts | RKJNT | 1:16 | Brethren, this scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was the guide to those who arrested Jesus.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:18 | (Now this man purchased a field with the reward of his wickedness; and falling headlong, he burst apart in the middle, and all his bowels gushed out.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:19 | And it became known to all who dwelt in Jerusalem; so that the field is called in their tongue, Akeldama, that is to say, The field of blood.)
Acts | RKJNT | 1:20 | For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation become desolate, and let no man live in it: and his office let another take.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:21 | Therefore, of those men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
Acts | RKJNT | 1:22 | Beginning with the baptism of John until the day that he was taken up from us, one of these must be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:23 | And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
Acts | RKJNT | 1:24 | And they prayed, and said, You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which of these two you have chosen,
Acts | RKJNT | 1:25 | To take part in this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas turned aside, that he might go to his own place.
