ACTS
Chapter 10
Acts | RKJNT | 10:1 | There was a certain man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian cohort,
Acts | RKJNT | 10:2 | A devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, and he gave many alms to the people, and prayed to God always.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:3 | About the ninth hour of the day he saw in a vision an angel of God coming in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:4 | And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Your prayers and your alms have come up as a memorial before God.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:7 | And when the angel who spoke to Cornelius had departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier from among those who waited upon him continually;
Acts | RKJNT | 10:9 | On the next day, as they went on their journey, and drew near to the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour:
Acts | RKJNT | 10:10 | And he became very hungry, and wanted to eat: but while they were making ready, he fell into a trance,
Acts | RKJNT | 10:11 | And saw heaven opened, and something descending, like a great sheet, let down by four corners to the earth:
Acts | RKJNT | 10:12 | In it were all manner of four-footed beasts of the earth, and creeping things, and birds of the air.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:14 | But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:15 | And the voice spoke to him a second time, What God has cleansed, do not call unholy.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:16 | This was done three times: and the sheet was immediately taken up again into heaven.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:17 | Now while Peter was perplexed about the meaning of the vision which he had seen, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made enquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,
Acts | RKJNT | 10:19 | While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men seek you.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:20 | Arise therefore, and go downstairs, and accompany them without doubting: for I have sent them.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:21 | Then Peter went down to the men who had been sent to him by Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am the one you seek: what is the cause for which you have come?
Acts | RKJNT | 10:22 | And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one who fears God, and who is well spoken of among all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house, and to hear a message from you.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:23 | Then he called them in, and gave them lodging. And on the next day Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:24 | And the day after they entered Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:25 | And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:28 | And he said to them, You know that it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to keep company, or visit one from another nation; but God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:29 | Therefore, I came to you without objection, as soon as I was sent for: therefore I ask for what intent you have sent for me?
Acts | RKJNT | 10:30 | And Cornelius said, Four days ago about this hour, I was keeping the ninth hour of prayer in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,
Acts | RKJNT | 10:31 | And said, Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered by God.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:32 | Therefore send to Joppa, and ask for Simon, who is called Peter; he is lodging in the house of one Simon, a tanner, by the sea.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:33 | Therefore I immediately sent to you; and you have been kind enough to come. Now then, we are all present here before God, to hear all things that you have been commanded by the Lord.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:34 | Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Truly I perceive that God shows no partiality:
Acts | RKJNT | 10:35 | But in every nation the man who fears him, and works righteousness, is accepted by him.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:36 | The word which God sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
Acts | RKJNT | 10:37 | You know that word, which was proclaimed throughout all Judaea, beginning in Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
Acts | RKJNT | 10:38 | How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: how he went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:39 | And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem. And they killed him by hanging him on a tree:
Acts | RKJNT | 10:41 | Not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen beforehand by God, that is, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:42 | And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he who was ordained by God to be the Judge of the living and dead.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:43 | To him all the prophets bear witness that through his name whoever believes in him shall receive forgiveness of sins.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:44 | While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:45 | And those of the circumcision who believed, as many as came with Peter, were astonished because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out upon the Gentiles.
Acts | RKJNT | 10:47 | Can anyone forbid water for these to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?
