ACTS
Chapter 4
Acts | RKJNT | 4:1 | And as they spoke to the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:2 | They were indignant that they taught the people, and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:3 | And they laid hands on them, and put them in prison until the next day: for it was already evening.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:4 | Yet many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:6 | And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and Jonathan, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:7 | And when they had set them in their midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have you done this?
Acts | RKJNT | 4:8 | Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, You rulers of the people, and elders,
Acts | RKJNT | 4:9 | If we are to be examined this day about a good deed done to a cripple, by what means he was made well;
Acts | RKJNT | 4:10 | Then let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him does this man stand here before you well.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:11 | This is the stone which was rejected by you builders, but which has become the very cornerstone.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:12 | And there is salvation in no one else: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:13 | Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:14 | And beholding the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:15 | But when they had commanded them to go aside, out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
Acts | RKJNT | 4:16 | Saying, What shall we do with these men? for that a notable miracle has indeed been done by them is apparent to everyone who lives in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:17 | But that it may spread no further among the people, let us sternly warn them, that they speak no more to any man in this name.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:18 | And they called them, and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:19 | But Peter and John answered and said to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, judge for yourselves.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:21 | So when they had threatened them further, they let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people: for everyone glorified God for what had been done.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:22 | For the man was more than forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was performed.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:23 | And being let go, they went to their own people, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:24 | And when they heard this, they lifted up their voices to God with one accord, and said, Lord, you are he who made the heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that is in them:
Acts | RKJNT | 4:25 | Who by the mouth of our father David said, Why did the Gentiles rage, and the people imagine vain things?
Acts | RKJNT | 4:26 | The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:27 | For truly in this city, against your holy servant Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
Acts | RKJNT | 4:29 | And now, Lord, behold their threatenings, and grant to your servants that they may speak your word with all boldness,
Acts | RKJNT | 4:30 | while you stretch forth your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:31 | And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:32 | And the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and of one soul: and no one said that any of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things in common.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:33 | And with great power the apostles gave witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:34 | Nor were any among them lacking: for as many as owned land or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,
Acts | RKJNT | 4:35 | And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made to each according to his need.
Acts | RKJNT | 4:36 | And Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, who was surnamed by the apostles Barnabas, (which means, The son of encouragement,)
