Chapter 1
Phil DRC 1:1  Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ: to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons.
Phil KJV 1:1  Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Phil DRC 1:2  Grace be unto you and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Phil VulgClem 1:2  Gratia vobis, et pax a Deo Patre nostro, et Domino Jesu Christo.
Phil KJV 1:2  Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Phil DRC 1:3  I give thanks to my God in every remembrance of you:
Phil VulgClem 1:3  Gratias ago Deo meo in omni memoria vestri,
Phil KJV 1:3  I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
Phil DRC 1:4  Always in all my prayers making supplication for you all with joy:
Phil VulgClem 1:4  semper in cunctis orationibus meis pro omnibus vobis, cum gaudio deprecationem faciens,
Phil KJV 1:4  Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
Phil DRC 1:5  For your communication in the gospel of Christ, from the first day unto now.
Phil VulgClem 1:5  super communicatione vestra in Evangelio Christi a prima die usque nunc.
Phil KJV 1:5  For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
Phil DRC 1:6  Being confident of this very thing: that he who hath begun a good work in you will perfect it unto the day of Christ Jesus.
Phil VulgClem 1:6  Confidens hoc ipsum, quia qui cœpit in vobis opus bonum, perficiet usque in diem Christi Jesu :
Phil KJV 1:6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Phil DRC 1:7  As it is meet for me to think this for you all, for that I have you in my heart; and that, in my bands and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of my joy.
Phil KJV 1:7  Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
Phil DRC 1:8  For God is my witness how I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
Phil VulgClem 1:8  Testis enim mihi est Deus, quomodo cupiam omnes vos in visceribus Jesu Christi.
Phil KJV 1:8  For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
Phil DRC 1:9  And this I pray: That your charity may more and more abound in knowledge and in all understanding:
Phil VulgClem 1:9  Et hoc oro, ut caritas vestra magis ac magis abundet in scientia, et in omni sensu :
Phil KJV 1:9  And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
Phil DRC 1:10  That you may approve the better things: that you may be sincere and without offence unto the day of Christ:
Phil VulgClem 1:10  ut probetis potiora, ut sitis sinceri, et sine offensa in diem Christi,
Phil KJV 1:10  That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
Phil DRC 1:11  Filled with the fruit of justice, through Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Phil KJV 1:11  Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
Phil DRC 1:12  Now, brethren, I desire you should know that the things which have happened to me have fallen out rather to the furtherance of the gospel:
Phil VulgClem 1:12  Scire autem vos volo fratres, quia quæ circa me sunt, magis ad profectum venerunt Evangelii :
Phil KJV 1:12  But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
Phil DRC 1:13  So that my bands are made manifest in Christ, in all the court and in all other places.
Phil KJV 1:13  So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
Phil DRC 1:14  And many of the brethren in the Lord, growing confident by my bands, are much more bold to speak the word of God without fear.
Phil VulgClem 1:14  et plures e fratribus in Domino confidentes vinculis meis, abundantius auderent sine timore verbum Dei loqui.
Phil KJV 1:14  And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
Phil DRC 1:15  Some indeed, even out of envy and contention: but some also for good will preach Christ.
Phil KJV 1:15  Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
Phil DRC 1:16  Some out of charity, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
Phil VulgClem 1:16  quidam ex caritate, scientes quoniam in defensionem Evangelii positus sum.
Phil KJV 1:16  The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
Phil DRC 1:17  And some out of contention preach Christ not sincerely: supposing that they raise affliction to my bands.
Phil KJV 1:17  But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
Phil DRC 1:18  But what then? So that by all means, whether by occasion or by truth, Christ be preached: in this also I rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
Phil KJV 1:18  What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
Phil DRC 1:19  For I know that this shall fall out to me unto salvation, through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Phil KJV 1:19  For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Phil DRC 1:20  According to my expectation and hope; that in nothing I shall be confounded: but with all confidence, as always, so now also, shall Christ be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.
Phil KJV 1:20  According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
Phil DRC 1:21  For to me, to live is Christ: and to die is gain.
Phil KJV 1:21  For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Phil DRC 1:22  And if to live in the flesh: this is to me the fruit of labour. And what I shall choose I know not.
Phil KJV 1:22  But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
Phil DRC 1:23  But I am straitened between two: having a desire to be dissolved and to be with Christ, a thing by far the better.
Phil KJV 1:23  For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
Phil DRC 1:24  But to abide still in the flesh is needful for you.
Phil VulgClem 1:24  permanere autem in carne, necessarium propter vos.
Phil KJV 1:24  Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Phil DRC 1:25  And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all, for your furtherance and joy of faith:
Phil VulgClem 1:25  Et hoc confidens scio quia manebo, et permanebo omnibus vobis ad profectum vestrum, et gaudium fidei :
Phil KJV 1:25  And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
Phil DRC 1:26  That your rejoicing may abound in Christ Jesus for me, by my coming to you again.
Phil KJV 1:26  That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.
Phil DRC 1:27  Only let your conversation be worthy of the gospel of Christ: that, whether I come and see you, or, being absent, may hear of you, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind labouring together for the faith of the gospel.
Phil VulgClem 1:27  Tantum digne Evangelio Christi conversamini : ut sive cum venero, et videro vos, sive absens audiam de vobis, quia statis in uno spiritu unanimes, collaborantes fidei Evangelii :
Phil KJV 1:27  Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
Phil DRC 1:28  And in nothing be ye terrified by the adversaries: which to them is a cause of perdition, but to you of salvation, and this from God.
Phil KJV 1:28  And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
Phil DRC 1:29  For unto you it is given for Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him:
Phil VulgClem 1:29  quia vobis donatum est pro Christo, non solum ut in eum credatis, sed ut etiam pro illo patiamini :
Phil KJV 1:29  For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
Phil DRC 1:30  Having the same conflict as that which you have seen in me and now have heard of me.
Phil VulgClem 1:30  idem certamen habentes, quale et vidistis in me, et nunc audistis de me.
Phil KJV 1:30  Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
