Chapter 44
Psal DRC 44:1  Unto the end, for them that shall be changed, for the sons of Core, for understanding. A canticle for the Beloved.
Psal KJV 44:1  We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
Psal VulgClem 44:1  In finem, pro iis qui commutabuntur. Filiis Core, ad intellectum. Canticum pro dilecto.
Psal DRC 44:2  My heart hath uttered a good word: I speak my works to the king: My tongue is the pen of a scrivener that writeth swiftly.
Psal KJV 44:2  How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.
Psal VulgClem 44:2  Eructavit cor meum verbum bonum : dico ego opera mea regi. Lingua mea calamus scribæ velociter scribentis.
Psal DRC 44:3  Thou art beautiful above the sons of men: grace is poured abroad in thy lips; therefore hath God blessed thee for ever.
Psal KJV 44:3  For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
Psal VulgClem 44:3  Speciosus forma præ filiis hominum, diffusa est gratia in labiis tuis : propterea benedixit te Deus in æternum.
Psal DRC 44:4  Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O thou most mighty.
Psal KJV 44:4  Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.
Psal VulgClem 44:4  Accingere gladio tuo super femur tuum, potentissime.
Psal DRC 44:5  With thy comeliness and thy beauty set out, proceed prosperously, and reign. Because of truth and meekness and justice: and thy right hand shall conduct thee wonderfully.
Psal KJV 44:5  Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
Psal VulgClem 44:5  Specie tua et pulchritudine tua intende, prospere procede, et regna, propter veritatem, et mansuetudinem, et justitiam ; et deducet te mirabiliter dextera tua.
Psal DRC 44:6  Thy arrows are sharp: under thee shall people fall, into the hearts of the king's enemies.
Psal KJV 44:6  For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
Psal VulgClem 44:6  Sagittæ tuæ acutæ : populi sub te cadent, in corda inimicorum regis.
Psal DRC 44:7  Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a sceptre of uprightness.
Psal KJV 44:7  But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.
Psal VulgClem 44:7  Sedes tua, Deus, in sæculum sæculi ; virga directionis virga regni tui.
Psal DRC 44:8  Thou hast loved justice, and hated iniquity: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Psal KJV 44:8  In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.
Psal VulgClem 44:8  Dilexisti justitiam, et odisti iniquitatem ; propterea unxit te Deus, Deus tuus, oleo lætitiæ, præ consortibus tuis.
Psal DRC 44:9  Myrrh and stacte and cassia perfume thy garments, from the ivory houses: out of which
Psal KJV 44:9  But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.
Psal VulgClem 44:9  Myrrha, et gutta, et casia a vestimentis tuis, a domibus eburneis ; ex quibus delectaverunt te
Psal DRC 44:10  The daughters of kings have delighted thee in thy glory. The queen stood on thy right hand, in gilded clothing; surrounded with variety.
Psal KJV 44:10  Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
Psal VulgClem 44:10  filiæ regum in honore tuo. Astitit regina a dextris tuis in vestitu deaurato, circumdata varietate.
Psal DRC 44:11  Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thy ear: and forget thy people and thy father's house.
Psal KJV 44:11  Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.
Psal VulgClem 44:11  Audi, filia, et vide, et inclina aurem tuam ; et obliviscere populum tuum, et domum patris tui.
Psal DRC 44:12  And the king shall greatly desire thy beauty; for he is the Lord thy God, and him they shall adore.
Psal KJV 44:12  Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.
Psal VulgClem 44:12  Et concupiscet rex decorem tuum, quoniam ipse est Dominus Deus tuus, et adorabunt eum.
Psal DRC 44:13  And the daughters of Tyre with gifts, yea, all the rich among the people, shall entreat thy countenance.
Psal KJV 44:13  Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
Psal VulgClem 44:13  Et filiæ Tyri in muneribus vultum tuum deprecabuntur ; omnes divites plebis.
Psal DRC 44:14  All the glory of the king's daughter is within in golden borders,
Psal KJV 44:14  Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
Psal VulgClem 44:14  Omnis gloria ejus filiæ regis ab intus, in fimbriis aureis,
Psal DRC 44:15  Clothed round about with varieties. After her shall virgins be brought to the king: her neighbours shall be brought to thee.
Psal KJV 44:15  My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
Psal VulgClem 44:15  circumamicta varietatibus. Adducentur regi virgines post eam ; proximæ ejus afferentur tibi.
Psal DRC 44:16  They shall be brought with gladness and rejoicing: they shall be brought into the temple of the king.
Psal KJV 44:16  For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.
Psal VulgClem 44:16  Afferentur in lætitia et exsultatione ; adducentur in templum regis.
Psal DRC 44:17  Instead of thy fathers, sons are born to thee: thou shalt make them princes over all the earth.
Psal KJV 44:17  All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
Psal VulgClem 44:17  Pro patribus tuis nati sunt tibi filii ; constitues eos principes super omnem terram.
Psal DRC 44:18  They shall remember thy name throughout all generations. Therefore shall people praise thee for ever; yea, for ever and ever.
Psal KJV 44:18  Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
Psal VulgClem 44:18  Memores erunt nominis tui in omni generatione et generationem : propterea populi confitebuntur tibi in æternum, et in sæculum sæculi.

Psal KJV 44:19  Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.
