102:1  For David himself. Bless the Lord, O my soul: and let all that is within me bless his holy name.

102:1  Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.

102:1  Ipsi David. Benedic, anima mea, Domino, et omnia quæ intra me sunt nomini sancto ejus.

102:2  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and never forget all he hath done for thee.

102:2  Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.

102:2  Benedic, anima mea, Domino, et noli oblivisci omnes retributiones ejus.

102:3  Who forgiveth all thy iniquities: who healeth all thy diseases.

102:3  For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.

102:3  Qui propitiatur omnibus iniquitatibus tuis ; qui sanat omnes infirmitates tuas :

102:4  Who redeemeth thy life from destruction: who crowneth thee with mercy and compassion.

102:4  My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.

102:4  qui redimit de interitu vitam tuam ; qui coronat te in misericordia et miserationibus :

102:5  Who satisfieth thy desire with good things: thy youth shall be renewed like the eagle's.

102:5  By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.

102:5  qui replet in bonis desiderium tuum ; renovabitur ut aquilæ juventus tua :

102:6  The Lord doth mercies, and judgment for all that suffer wrong.

102:6  I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.

102:6  faciens misericordias Dominus, et judicium omnibus injuriam patientibus.

102:7  He hath made his ways known to Moses: his wills to the children of Israel.

102:7  I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

102:7  Notas fecit vias suas Moysi ; filiis Israël voluntates suas.

102:8  The Lord is compassionate and merciful: longsuffering and plenteous in mercy.

102:8  Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.

102:8  Miserator et misericors Dominus : longanimis, et multum misericors.

102:9  He will not always be angry: nor will he threaten for ever.

102:9  For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,

102:9  Non in perpetuum irascetur, neque in æternum comminabitur.

102:10  He hath not dealt with us according to our sins: nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

102:10  Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.

102:10  Non secundum peccata nostra fecit nobis, neque secundum iniquitates nostras retribuit nobis.

102:11  For according to the height of the heaven above the earth: he hath strengthened his mercy towards them that fear him.

102:11  My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

102:11  Quoniam secundum altitudinem cæli a terra, corroboravit misericordiam suam super timentes se ;

102:12  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our iniquities from us.

102:12  But thou, O Lord, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

102:12  quantum distat ortus ab occidente, longe fecit a nobis iniquitates nostras.

102:13  As a father hath compassion on his children, so hath the Lord compassion on them that fear him:

102:13  Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.

102:13  Quomodo miseretur pater filiorum, misertus est Dominus timentibus se.

102:14  For he knoweth our frame. He remembereth that we are dust:

102:14  For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.

102:14  Quoniam ipse cognovit figmentum nostrum ; recordatus est quoniam pulvis sumus.

102:15  Man's days are as grass, as the flower of the field so shall he flourish.

102:15  So the heathen shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.

102:15  Homo, sicut fœnum dies ejus ; tamquam flos agri, sic efflorebit :

102:16  For the spirit shall pass in him, and he shall not be: and he shall know his place no more.

102:16  When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.

102:16  quoniam spiritus pertransibit in illo, et non subsistet, et non cognoscet amplius locum suum.

102:17  But the mercy of the Lord is from eternity and unto eternity upon them that fear him: And his justice unto children's children,

102:17  He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

102:17  Misericordia autem Domini ab æterno, et usque in æternum super timentes eum. Et justitia illius in filios filiorum,

102:18  To such as keep his covenant, And are mindful of his commandments to do them.

102:18  This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.

102:18  his qui servant testamentum ejus, et memores sunt mandatorum ipsius ad faciendum ea.

102:19  The Lord hath prepared his throne in heaven: and his kingdom shall rule over all.

102:19  For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the Lord behold the earth;

102:19  Dominus in cælo paravit sedem suam, et regnum ipsius omnibus dominabitur.

102:20  Bless the Lord, all ye his angels: you that are mighty in strength, and execute his word, hearkening to the voice of his orders.

102:20  To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;

102:20  Benedicite Domino, omnes angeli ejus : potentes virtute, facientes verbum illius, ad audiendam vocem sermonum ejus.

102:21  Bless the Lord, all ye his hosts: you ministers of his that do his will.

102:21  To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

102:21  Benedicite Domino, omnes virtutes ejus ; ministri ejus, qui facitis voluntatem ejus.

102:22  Bless the Lord, all his works: in every place of his dominion, O my soul, bless thou the Lord.

102:22  When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

102:22  Benedicite Domino, omnia opera ejus : in omni loco dominationis ejus, benedic, anima mea, Domino.

102:23  He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.

102:24  I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.

102:25  Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

102:26  They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

102:27  But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

102:28  The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
