Chapter 34
Psal DRC 34:1  For David himself. Judge thou, O Lord, them that wrong me: overthrow them that fight against me.
Psal KJV 34:1  I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psal VulgClem 34:1  Ipsi David. Judica, Domine, nocentes me ; expugna impugnantes me.
Psal DRC 34:2  Take hold of arms and shield: and rise up to help me.
Psal KJV 34:2  My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
Psal VulgClem 34:2  Apprehende arma et scutum, et exsurge in adjutorium mihi.
Psal DRC 34:3  Bring out the sword, and shut up the way against them that persecute me: say to my soul: I am thy salvation.
Psal KJV 34:3  O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
Psal VulgClem 34:3  Effunde frameam, et conclude adversus eos qui persequuntur me ; dic animæ meæ : Salus tua ego sum.
Psal DRC 34:4  Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded that devise evil against me.
Psal KJV 34:4  I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Psal VulgClem 34:4  Confundantur et revereantur quærentes animam meam ; avertantur retrorsum et confundantur cogitantes mihi mala.
Psal DRC 34:5  Let them become as dust before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord straiten them.
Psal KJV 34:5  They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
Psal VulgClem 34:5  Fiant tamquam pulvis ante faciem venti, et angelus Domini coarctans eos.
Psal DRC 34:6  Let their way become dark and slippery; and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.
Psal KJV 34:6  This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
Psal VulgClem 34:6  Fiat via illorum tenebræ et lubricum, et angelus Domini persequens eos.
Psal DRC 34:7  For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction: without cause they have upbraided my soul.
Psal KJV 34:7  The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Psal VulgClem 34:7  Quoniam gratis absconderunt mihi interitum laquei sui ; supervacue exprobraverunt animam meam.
Psal DRC 34:8  Let the snare which he knoweth not come upon him: and let the net which he hath hidden catch him: and into that very snare let them fall.
Psal KJV 34:8  O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Psal VulgClem 34:8  Veniat illi laqueus quem ignorat, et captio quam abscondit apprehendat eum, et in laqueum cadat in ipsum.
Psal DRC 34:9  But my soul shall rejoice in the Lord; and shall be delighted in his salvation.
Psal KJV 34:9  O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

Psal DRC 34:10  All my bones shall say: Lord, who is like to thee? Who deliverest the poor from the hand of them that are stronger than he; the needy and the poor from them that strip him.
Psal KJV 34:10  The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.
Psal VulgClem 34:10  Omnia ossa mea dicent : Domine, quis similis tibi ? eripiens inopem de manu fortiorum ejus ; egenum et pauperem a diripientibus eum.
Psal DRC 34:11  Unjust witnesses rising up have asked me things I knew not.
Psal KJV 34:11  Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Psal VulgClem 34:11  Surgentes testes iniqui, quæ ignorabam interrogabant me.
Psal DRC 34:12  They repaid me evil for good: to the depriving me of my soul.
Psal KJV 34:12  What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
Psal VulgClem 34:12  Retribuebant mihi mala pro bonis, sterilitatem animæ meæ.
Psal DRC 34:13  But as for me, when they were troublesome to me, I was clothed with haircloth. I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom.
Psal KJV 34:13  Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
Psal VulgClem 34:13  Ego autem, cum mihi molesti essent, induebar cilicio ; humiliabam in jejunio animam meam, et oratio mea in sinu meo convertetur.
Psal DRC 34:14  As a neighbour and as an own brother, so did I please: as one mourning and sorrowful so was I humbled.
Psal KJV 34:14  Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Psal VulgClem 34:14  Quasi proximum et quasi fratrem nostrum sic complacebam ; quasi lugens et contristatus sic humiliabar.
Psal DRC 34:15  But they rejoiced against me, and came together: scourges were gathered together upon me, and I knew not.
Psal KJV 34:15  The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
Psal VulgClem 34:15  Et adversum me lætati sunt, et convenerunt ; congregata sunt super me flagella, et ignoravi.
Psal DRC 34:16  They were separated, and repented not: they tempted me, they scoffed at me with scorn: they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
Psal KJV 34:16  The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
Psal VulgClem 34:16  Dissipati sunt, nec compuncti ; tentaverunt me, subsannaverunt me subsannatione ; frenduerunt super me dentibus suis.
Psal DRC 34:17  Lord, when wilt thou look upon me? rescue thou my soul from their malice: my only one from the lions.
Psal KJV 34:17  The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
Psal VulgClem 34:17  Domine, quando respicies ? Restitue animam meam a malignitate eorum ; a leonibus unicam meam.
Psal DRC 34:18  I will give thanks to thee in a great church; I will praise thee in a strong people.
Psal KJV 34:18  The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psal VulgClem 34:18  Confitebor tibi in ecclesia magna ; in populo gravi laudabo te.
Psal DRC 34:19  Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes.
Psal KJV 34:19  Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
Psal VulgClem 34:19  Non supergaudeant mihi qui adversantur mihi inique, qui oderunt me gratis, et annuunt oculis.
Psal DRC 34:20  For they spoke indeed peaceably to me; and speaking in the anger of the earth they devised guile.
Psal KJV 34:20  He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
Psal VulgClem 34:20  Quoniam mihi quidem pacifice loquebantur ; et in iracundia terræ loquentes, dolos cogitabant.
Psal DRC 34:21  And they opened their mouth wide against me; they said: Well done, well done, our eyes have seen it.
Psal KJV 34:21  Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
Psal VulgClem 34:21  Et dilataverunt super me os suum ; dixerunt : Euge, euge ! viderunt oculi nostri.
Psal DRC 34:22  Thou hast seen, O Lord, be not thou silent: O Lord, depart not from me.
Psal KJV 34:22  The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
Psal VulgClem 34:22  Vidisti, Domine : ne sileas ; Domine, ne discedas a me.
Psal DRC 34:23  Arise, and be attentive to my judgment: to my cause, my God, and my Lord.

Psal DRC 34:24  Judge me, O Lord my God according to thy justice, and let them not rejoice over me.

Psal VulgClem 34:24  Judica me secundum justitiam tuam, Domine Deus meus, et non supergaudeant mihi.
Psal DRC 34:25  Let them not say in their hearts: It is well, it is well, to our mind: neither let them say: We have swallowed him up.

Psal VulgClem 34:25  Non dicant in cordibus suis : Euge, euge, animæ nostræ ; nec dicant : Devoravimus eum.
Psal DRC 34:26  Let them blush: and be ashamed together, who rejoice at my evils. Let them be clothed with confusion and shame, who speak great things against me.

Psal VulgClem 34:26  Erubescant et revereantur simul qui gratulantur malis meis ; induantur confusione et reverentia qui magna loquuntur super me.
Psal DRC 34:27  Let them rejoice and be glad, who are well pleased with my justice, and let them say always: The Lord be magnified, who delights in the peace of his servant.

Psal VulgClem 34:27  Exsultent et lætentur qui volunt justitiam meam ; et dicant semper : Magnificetur Dominus, qui volunt pacem servi ejus.
Psal DRC 34:28  And my tongue shall meditate thy justice, thy praise all the day long.
