32:1  Have they made thee ruler? be not lifted up: be among them as one of them.

32:1  Byl jsi určen za správce hostiny? Nenaparuj se, chovej se k hostům jako jeden z nich a postarej se o ně, než se sám posadíš.

32:1  Rectorem te posuerunt ? noli extolli : esto in illis quasi unus ex ipsis.

32:2  Have care of them, and so sit down, and when thou hast acquitted thyself of all thy charge, take thy place:

32:2  Až splníš své povinnosti, zasedni ke stolu, aby ses bavil spolu s hosty a za svou šikovnost získal vavřín chvály.

32:2  Curam illorum habe, et sic conside, et omni cura tua explicita recumbe :

32:3  That thou mayst rejoice for them, and receive a crown as an ornament of grace, and get the honour of the contribution.

32:3  Mluv, starče, jak se na tě sluší, se znalostí věci; ale neruš hudbu.

32:3  ut læteris propter illos, et ornamentum gratiæ accipias coronam, et dignationem consequaris corrogationis.

32:4  Speak, thou that art elder: for it becometh thee,

32:4  Když se zpívá, neplýtvej slovy a nemudruj v nevhodnou chvíli.

32:4  Loquere major natu : decet enim te

32:5  To speak the first word with careful knowledge, and hinder not music.

32:5  Rubínová pečeť zasazená ve zlatě je ladná hudba při hostině.

32:5  primum verbum diligenti scientia, et non impedias musicam.

32:6  Where there is no hearing, pour not out words, and be not lifted up out of season with thy wisdom.

32:6  Smaragdová pečeť ve zlaté obrubě je libý zpěv při lahodném víně.

32:6  Ubi auditus non est, non effundas sermonem, et importune noli extolli in sapientia tua.

32:7  A concert of music in a banquet of wine is as a carbuncle set in gold.

32:7  Mluv, mladíku, je-li potřeba, nanejvýš dvakrát a jsi-li otázán.

32:7  Gemmula carbunculi in ornamento auri, et comparatio musicorum in convivio vini.

32:8  As a signet of an emerald in a work of gold: so is the melody of music with pleasant and moderate wine.

32:8  Buď stručný, řekni mnohé pár slovy – buď jako ten, kdo ví, a přesto mlčí.

32:8  Sicut in fabricatione auri signum est smaragdi, sic numerus musicorum in jucundo et moderato vino.

32:9  Hear in silence, and for thy reverence good grace shall come to thee.

32:9  Nemluv s velmoži, jako bys jim byl rovný, a nežvaň, když mluví někdo jiný.

32:9  Audi tacens, et pro reverentia accedet tibi bona gratia.

32:10  Young man, scarcely speak in thy own cause.

32:10  Obliba kráčí před skromným člověkem, jako se před hromem ukazuje blesk.

32:10  Adolescens, loquere in tua causa vix.

32:11  If thou be asked twice, let thy answer be short.

32:11  V pravý čas vstaň a neotálej, pospěš si domů a neloudej se.

32:11  Si bis interrogatus fueris, habeat caput responsum tuum.

32:12  In many things be as if thou wert ignorant, and hear in silence and withal seeking.

32:12  Tam se pak bav a dělej, co se ti zlíbí, jen se neprohřešuj zpupnými slovy.

32:12  In multis esto quasi inscius, et audi tacens simul et quærens.

32:13  In the company of great men take not upon thee: and when the ancients are present, speak not much.

32:13  Hlavně však dobrořeč svému Stvořiteli, který tě opájí svým dobrodiním.

32:13  In medio magnatorum non præsumas : et ubi sunt senes non multum loquaris.

32:14  Before a storm goeth lightning: and before shamefacedness goeth favour: and for thy reverence good grace shall come to thee.

32:14  Kdo ctí Hospodina, přijme poučení, a kdo časně vstává, dojde u něj chvály.

32:14  Ante grandinem præibit coruscatio : et ante verecundiam præibit gratia, et pro reverentia accedet tibi bona gratia.

32:15  And at the time of rising be not slack: but be first to run home to thy house, and there withdraw thyself, and there take thy pastime.

32:15  Kdo studuje Zákon, nasytí se jím, pokrytce ale Zákon omrzí.

32:15  Et hora surgendi non te trices : præcurre autem prior in domum tuam, et illic avocare, et illic lude,

32:16  And do what thou hast a mind, but not in sin or proud speech.

32:16  Ti, kdo ctí Hospodina, dosáhnou práva, jejich dobré skutky budou zářit jako lucerna.

32:16  et age conceptiones tuas, et non in delictis et verbo superbo :

32:17  And for all these things bless the Lord, that made thee, and that replenisheth thee with all his good things.

32:17  Hříšník uhýbá před pokáráním, vždy si umí najít výmluvy.

32:17  et super his omnibus benedicito Dominum, qui fecit, et inebriantem te ab omnibus bonis suis.

32:18  He that feareth the Lord, will receive his discipline: and they that will seek him early, shall find a blessing.

32:18  Soudný muž dá na rozumné rady, drzoun a nadutec se ale nedá ničím odradit.

32:18  Qui timet Dominum excipiet doctrinam ejus : et qui vigilaverint ad illum invenient benedictionem.

32:19  He that seeketh the law, shall be filled with it: and he that dealeth deceitfully, shall meet with a stumblingblock therein.

32:19  Nic nedělej, dokud se neporadíš, aby ses potom nemusel trápit.

32:19  Qui quærit legem replebitur ab ea, et qui insidiose agit scandalizabitur in ea.

32:20  They that fear the Lord, shall find just judgment, and shall kindle justice as a light.

32:20  Nechoď hrbolatými cestami, ať nezakopneš o kameny.

32:20  Qui timent Dominum invenient judicium justum, et justitias quasi lumen accendent.

32:21  A sinful man will flee reproof, and will find an excuse according to his will.

32:21  Ani rovnou cestou si nebuď jistý,

32:21  Peccator homo vitabit correptionem, et secundum voluntatem suam inveniet comparationem.

32:22  A man of counsel will not neglect understanding, a strange and proud man will not dread fear:

32:22  dávej si pozor i na vlastní děti.

32:22  Vir consilii non disperdet intelligentiam : alienus et superbus non pertimescet timorem :

32:23  Even after he hath done with fear without counsel, he shall be controlled by the things of his own seeking.

32:23  Při všem, co děláš, buď opatrný – i to je způsob, jak plnit přikázání.

32:23  etiam postquam fecit cum eo sine consilio, et suis insectationibus arguetur.

32:24  My son, do thou nothing without counsel, and thou shalt not repent when thou hast done.

32:24  Kdo věří Zákonu, dbá na přikázání, kdo spoléhá na Hospodina, nebude zahanben.

32:24  Fili, sine consilio nihil facias, et post factum non pœnitebis.

32:25  Go not in the way of ruin, and thou shalt not stumble against the stones: trust not thyself to a rugged way, lest thou set a stumblingblock to thy soul.

32:25  In via ruinæ non eas, et non offendes in lapides : nec credas te viæ laboriosæ, ne ponas animæ tuæ scandalum.

32:26  And beware of thy own children, and take heed of them of thy household.

32:26  Et a filiis tuis cave, et a domesticis tuis attende.

32:27  In every work of thine regard thy soul in faith: for this is the keeping of the commandments.

32:27  In omni opere tuo crede ex fide animæ tuæ, hoc est enim conservatio mandatorum.

32:28  He that believeth God, taketh heed to the commandments: and he that trusteth in him, shall fare never the worse.

32:28  Qui credit Deo attendit mandatis : et qui confidit in illo non minorabitur.
