44:1  And Joseph commanded the steward of his house, saying: Fill their sacks with corn, as much as they can hold: and put the money of every one in the top of his sack.

44:4  [And] when they had gone out of the city, [and] were not [yet] far off, Joseph said to his steward, Arise, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say to them, Why have ye rewarded evil for good?

44:5  Což jste nevzali to, z čeho můj pán pije a čeho používá k věštění? Zle jste se zachovali, že jste to udělali!‘“

44:5  [Is] not this [the cup] in which my lord drinketh, and by which indeed he divineth? ye have done evil in so doing.

44:7  And they said to him, Why saith my lord these words? Far be it from us that thy servants should do according to this thing:

44:8  The money, that we found in the top of our sacks, we brought back to thee from the land of Chanaan: how then should it be that we should steal out of thy lord's house, gold or silver?

44:10  Správce souhlasil: „Dobře, ať je po vašem. Ten, u koho se to najde, se stane mým otrokem; vy budete bez viny.“

44:10  And he said, Now also [let] it [be] according to your words: he with whom it shall be found, shall be my servant; and ye shall be blameless.

44:16  And Juda said to him: What shall we answer my lord? or what shall we say, or be able justly to allege? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are all bondmen to my lord, both we, and he with whom the cup was found.

44:16  And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.

44:16  Juda odvětil: „Co můžeme svému pánu říci? Jak to omluvíme? Čím se ospravedlníme? Sám Bůh stíhá tvé otroky za jejich provinění. Teď jsme otroky svého pána, my i ten, u něhož se kalich našel.“

44:16  Juda řekl: „Co máme říci, pane můj? Není se jak omluvit ani ospravedlnit. Sám Bůh odhalil vinu tvých služebníků. Hle, jsme otroci svého pána – my i ten, u něhož se našel ten pohár!“

44:16  Juda odpověděl: Co můžeme mému pánu říci? Co máme povídat? A jak se ospravedlníme? Bůh postihl provinění tvých otroků. Hle, jsme otroky mého pána, i my, i ten, u něhož se nalezl kalich.

44:16  Tedy řekl Juda: Což díme pánu svému? co mluviti budeme? a čím se ospravedlníme? Bůhť jest našel nepravost služebníků tvých. Aj, služebníci jsme pána svého, i my i ten, u něhož nalezen jest koflík.

44:16  And Judah said, What shall we say to my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold we [are] my lord's servants, both we, and [he] also with whom the cup is found.

44:16  Judah said, "What will we tell my lord? What will we speak? Or how will we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants. Behold, we are my lord's bondservants, both we, and he also in whose hand the cup is found."

44:16  And Judah said, What shall we say to my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your servants: behold, we are my lord's servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.

44:16  Cui Judas : Quid respondebimus, inquit, domino meo ? vel quid loquemur, aut juste poterimus obtendere ? Deus invenit iniquitatem servorum tuorum : en omnes servi sumus domini mei, et nos, et apud quem inventus est scyphus.

44:17  Joseph answered: God forbid that I should do so: he that stole the cup, he shall be my bondman: and go you away free to your father.

44:17  And he said, God forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.

44:17  Josef řekl: „Takového jednání jsem dalek; mým otrokem se stane jen ten, u něhož se našel kalich, a vy odejděte v pokoji k svému otci.“

44:17  On však řekl: „To bych nikdy nepřipustil. Mým otrokem bude muž, u kterého se našel ten pohár. Vy ostatní se v pokoji vraťte ke svému otci!“

44:17  Josef odpověděl: Ať je to ode mne vzdáleno, abych to učinil. Muž, u něhož se ten kalich našel, ten bude mým otrokem, a vy jděte v pokoji ke svému otci.

44:17  Odpověděl Jozef: Odstup ode mne, abych to učinil. Muž, u něhož nalezen jest koflík, ten bude mým služebníkem; vy pak jděte u pokoji k otci svému.

44:17  And he said, Far be it from me that I should do so: the man in whose hand the cup is found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, go in peace to your father.

44:17  Respondit Joseph : Absit a me ut sic agam : qui furatus est scyphum, ipse sit servus meus : vos autem abite liberi ad patrem vestrum.

44:18  Then Juda coming nearer, said boldly: I beseech thee, my lord, let thy servant speak a word in thy ears, and be not angry with thy servant: for after Pharao thou art.

44:18  Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord’s ears, and let not thine anger burn against thy servant: for thou art even as Pharaoh.

44:18  Juda k němu přistoupil a řekl: „Dovol, můj pane, aby tvůj otrok směl promluvit ke svému pánu. Ať proti tvému otroku nevzplane tvůj hněv. Ty jsi přece jako sám farao.

44:18  Nato k němu Juda přistoupil se slovy: „Odpusť, pane můj, dovol prosím svému služebníku promluvit slovo k pánovým uším. Nehněvej se prosím na svého služebníka – jsi přece jako sám farao!

44:18  Juda k němu přistoupil a řekl: Dovol, prosím, můj pane, ať tvůj otrok promluví k svému pánu; ať tvůj hněv nevzplane proti tvému otroku, protože ty jsi jako farao.

44:18  I přistoupil k němu Juda a řekl: Slyš mne, pane můj. Prosím, nechažť promluví služebník tvůj slovo v uši pána svého, a nehněvej se na služebníka svého; nebo jsi ty jako sám Farao.

44:18  Then Judah came near to him, and said, Oh my lord, let thy servant, I pray thee, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not thy anger burn against thy servant; for thou [art] even as Pharaoh.

44:31  Jakmile spatří, že chlapec s námi není, umře. Tvoji otroci uvalí žal na šediny tvého otroka, našeho otce, a přivedou ho do podsvětí.

44:33  Therefore I, thy servant, will stay instead of the boy in the service of my lord, and let the boy go up with his brethren.

44:33  Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant abide instead of the lad a bondman to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brethren.

44:33  Proto dovol, aby tvůj otrok zůstal u svého pána v otroctví namísto tohoto chlapce, a chlapec ať smí se svými bratry odejít.

44:34  For I cannot return to my father without the boy, lest I be a witness of the calamity that will oppress my father.

44:34  For how shall I go up to my father, and the lad be not with me? lest peradventure I see the evil that shall come on my father.

44:34  Jak bych mohl k svému otci přijít, kdyby chlapec nebyl se mnou? Což bych se mohl dívat na utrpení, které by mého otce postihlo?“
