Chapter 12
I Co DRC 12:1  Now concerning spiritual things, my brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
I Co VulgClem 12:1  De spiritualibus autem, nolo vos ignorare fratres.
I Co KJV 12:1  Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
I Co DRC 12:2  You know that when you were heathens, you went to dumb idols, according as you were led.
I Co VulgClem 12:2  Scitis quoniam cum gentes essetis, ad simulacra muta prout ducebamini euntes.
I Co KJV 12:2  Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
I Co DRC 12:3  Wherefore, I give you to understand that no man, speaking by the Spirit of God, saith Anathema to Jesus. And no man can say The Lord Jesus, but by the Holy Ghost.
I Co VulgClem 12:3  Ideo notum vobis facio, quod nemo in Spiritu Dei loquens, dicit anathema Jesu. Et nemo potest dicere, Dominus Jesus, nisi in Spiritu Sancto.
I Co KJV 12:3  Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
I Co DRC 12:4  Now there are diversities of graces, but the same Spirit.
I Co VulgClem 12:4  Divisiones vero gratiarum sunt, idem autem Spiritus :
I Co KJV 12:4  Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
I Co DRC 12:5  And there are diversities of ministries. but the same Lord.
I Co VulgClem 12:5  et divisiones ministrationum sunt, idem autem Dominus :
I Co KJV 12:5  And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
I Co DRC 12:6  And there are diversities of operations, but the same God, who worketh all in all.
I Co VulgClem 12:6  et divisiones operationum sunt, idem vero Deus qui operatur omnia in omnibus.
I Co KJV 12:6  And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
I Co DRC 12:7  And the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man unto profit.
I Co VulgClem 12:7  Unicuique autem datur manifestatio Spiritus ad utilitatem.
I Co KJV 12:7  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
I Co DRC 12:8  To one indeed, by the Spirit, is given the word of wisdom: and to another, the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit:
I Co VulgClem 12:8  Alii quidem per Spiritum datur sermo sapientiæ : alii autem sermo scientiæ secundum eumdem Spiritum :
I Co KJV 12:8  For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
I Co DRC 12:9  To another, faith in the same spirit: to another, the grace of healing in one Spirit:
I Co VulgClem 12:9  alteri fides in eodem Spiritu : alii gratia sanitatum in uno Spiritu :
I Co KJV 12:9  To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
I Co DRC 12:10  To another the working of miracles: to another, prophecy: to another, the discerning of spirits: to another, diverse kinds of tongues: to another, interpretation of speeches.
I Co VulgClem 12:10  alii operatio virtutum, alii prophetia, alii discretio spirituum, alii genera linguarum, alii interpretatio sermonum.
I Co KJV 12:10  To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
I Co DRC 12:11  But all these things, one and the same Spirit worketh, dividing to every one according as he will.
I Co VulgClem 12:11  Hæc autem omnia operatur unus atque idem Spiritus, dividens singulis prout vult.
I Co KJV 12:11  But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
I Co DRC 12:12  For as the body is one and hath many members; and all the members of the body, whereas they are many, yet are one body: So also is Christ.
I Co VulgClem 12:12  Sicut enim corpus unum est, et membra habet multa, omnia autem membra corporis cum sint multa, unum tamen corpus sunt : ita et Christus.
I Co KJV 12:12  For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
I Co DRC 12:13  For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether bond or free: and in one Spirit we have all been made to drink.
I Co VulgClem 12:13  Etenim in uno Spiritu omnes nos in unum corpus baptizati sumus, sive Judæi, sive gentiles, sive servi, sive liberi : et omnes in uno Spiritu potati sumus.
I Co KJV 12:13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
I Co DRC 12:14  For the body also is not one member, but many.
I Co VulgClem 12:14  Nam et corpus non est unum membrum, sed multa.
I Co KJV 12:14  For the body is not one member, but many.
I Co DRC 12:15  If the foot should say: Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body: Is it therefore not of the Body?
I Co VulgClem 12:15  Si dixerit pes : Quoniam non sum manus, non sum de corpore : num ideo non est de corpore ?
I Co KJV 12:15  If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
I Co DRC 12:16  And if the ear should say: Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body: Is it therefore not of the body?
I Co VulgClem 12:16  Et si dixerit auris : Quoniam non sum oculus, non sum de corpore : num ideo est de corpore ?
I Co KJV 12:16  And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
I Co DRC 12:17  If the whole body were the eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?
I Co VulgClem 12:17  Si totum corpus oculus : ubi auditus ? Si totum auditus : ubi odoratus ?
I Co KJV 12:17  If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
I Co DRC 12:18  But now God hath set the members, every one of them, in the body as it hath pleased him.
I Co VulgClem 12:18  Nunc autem posuit Deus membra, unumquodque eorum in corpore sicut voluit.
I Co KJV 12:18  But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
I Co DRC 12:19  And if they all were one member, where would be the body?
I Co VulgClem 12:19  Quod si essent omnia unum membrum, ubi corpus ?
I Co KJV 12:19  And if they were all one member, where were the body?
I Co DRC 12:20  But now there are many members indeed, yet one body.
I Co VulgClem 12:20  Nunc autem multa quidem membra, unum autem corpus.
I Co KJV 12:20  But now are they many members, yet but one body.
I Co DRC 12:21  And the eye cannot say to the hand: I need not thy help. Nor again the head to the feet: I have no need of you.
I Co VulgClem 12:21  Non potest autem oculus dicere manui : Opera tua non indigeo : aut iterum caput pedibus : Non estis mihi necessarii.
I Co KJV 12:21  And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
I Co DRC 12:22  Yea, much, more those that seem to be the more feeble members of the body are more necessary
I Co VulgClem 12:22  Sed multo magis quæ videntur membra corporis infirmiora esse, necessariora sunt :
I Co KJV 12:22  Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
I Co DRC 12:23  And such as we think to be the less honourable members of the body, about these we put more abundant honour: and those that are our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
I Co VulgClem 12:23  et quæ putamus ignobiliora membra esse corporis, his honorem abundantiorem circumdamus : et quæ inhonesta sunt nostra, abundantiorem honestatem habent.
I Co KJV 12:23  And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
I Co DRC 12:24  But our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, giving to that which wanted the more abundant honour.
I Co VulgClem 12:24  Honesta autem nostra nullius egent : sed Deus temperavit corpus, ei cui deerat, abundantiorem tribuendo honorem,
I Co KJV 12:24  For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
I Co DRC 12:25  That there might be no schism in the body: but the members might be mutually careful one for another.
I Co VulgClem 12:25  ut non sit schisma in corpore, sed idipsum pro invicem sollicita sint membra.
I Co KJV 12:25  That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
I Co DRC 12:26  And if one member suffer any thing, all the members suffer with it: or if one member glory, all the members rejoice with it.
I Co VulgClem 12:26  Et si quid patitur unum membrum, compatiuntur omnia membra : sive gloriatur unum membrum, congaudent omnia membra.
I Co KJV 12:26  And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
I Co DRC 12:27  Now you are the body of Christ and members of member.
I Co VulgClem 12:27  Vos autem estis corpus Christi, et membra de membro.
I Co KJV 12:27  Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
I Co DRC 12:28  And God indeed hath set some in the church; first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly doctors: after that miracles: then the graces of healings, helps, governments, kinds of tongues, interpretations of speeches.
I Co VulgClem 12:28  Et quosdam quidem posuit Deus in ecclesia primum apostolos, secundo prophetas, exinde doctores, deinde virtutes, exinde gratias curationum, opitulationes, gubernationes, genera linguarum, interpretationes sermonum.
I Co KJV 12:28  And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
I Co DRC 12:29  Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all doctors?
I Co VulgClem 12:29  Numquid omnes apostoli ? numquid omnes prophetæ ? numquid omnes doctores ?
I Co KJV 12:29  Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
I Co DRC 12:30  Are all workers of miracles? Have all the grace of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
I Co VulgClem 12:30  numquid omnes virtutes ? numquid omnes gratiam habent curationum ? numquid omnes linguis loquuntur ? numquid omnes interpretantur ?
I Co KJV 12:30  Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
I Co DRC 12:31  But be zealous for the better gifts. And I shew unto you yet a more excellent way.
I Co VulgClem 12:31  Æmulamini autem charismata meliora. Et adhuc excellentiorem viam vobis demonstro.
I Co KJV 12:31  But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
