10:1  After these things the Lord appointed also seventy others, and sent them two and two before Him, into every city and place, whither He himself was about to come.

10:2  And He said unto them, The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few: pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that He would send out workmen to his harvest.

10:3  Go your ways: behold I send you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.

10:4  Carry neither purse, nor bag, nor shoes; and salute no one by the way.

10:5  But whatever house ye come into, first say, Peace be to this house:

10:6  and if there be a child of peace there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall return upon yourselves.

10:7  But remain in the same house, eating and drinking such as they have; for the laborer is worthy of his hire.

10:8  Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you;

10:9  and heal those in it that are sick, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come unto you.

10:10  But into whatever city ye come, and they receive you not, go out into the streets of it and say,

10:11  even the dust that cleaveth to us out of your city we wipe off against you: but know this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

10:12  And I tell you, it shall be more tolerable in that day even for Sodom than for that city.

10:13  Wo unto thee, Chorazin, wo unto thee, Bethsaida, for if the miracles wrought among you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

10:14  But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgement than for you.

10:15  And thou Capernaum, which art exalted even to heaven, shalt be cast down to hell.

10:16  ---He, that heareth you, heareth me; and he, that rejecteth you, rejecteth me; and he, that rejecteth me, rejecteth Him that sent me.

10:17  And the seventy returned with joy saying, Lord, even the devils are subject to us through thy name.

10:18  And He said unto them, I beheld Satan, as lightning, falling from heaven.

10:19  Behold I give you power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the might of the enemy; and nothing shall at all hurt you.

10:20  However rejoice not in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

10:21  At this time Jesus was transported with joy in his spirit and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and knowing, and hast revealed them to babes: even so, Father, for such was thy good pleasure.

10:22  All things are delivered to me by my Father: and none knoweth who the Son is, but the Father: and who the Father is, but the Son; and he to whom the Son pleaseth to reveal Him.

10:23  And turning to the disciples, He said to them in particular, Blessed are the eyes that see what ye see:

10:24  for many prophets and kings desired to see the things which ye see, and did not see them; and to hear what ye hear, but did not hear them.

10:25  And behold, a lawyer stood up to try Him, and said, Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?

10:26  He said to him, What is written in the law? How readest thou there?

10:27  And he answered, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind: and thy neighbor as thyself.

10:28  And He said unto him, Thou hast answered right; do this and thou shalt live.

10:29  But he willing to justify himself said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

10:30  And Jesus replying said, There was a certain man going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among thieves, who after they had stripped and beaten him, went away, leaving him half dead.

10:31  And by chance a certain priest came down that way, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

10:32  Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place, went and looked at him, and then crossed the way and passed by.

10:33  But a certain Samaritan, as he was travelling, came up to him, and when He saw him,

10:34  he was moved with compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine; and setting him upon his own beast, brought him to an inn and took care of him.

10:35  And on the morrow, when he went away he took out two denaries, and gave them to the inn-keeper, and said to him, Take care of him, and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again I will repay thee.

10:36  Which now of these three dost thou think was neighbor to him that fell among the thieves?

10:37  And he said, He that took pity on him. Therefore said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou in like manner.

10:38  And as they were journeying, He entered into a certain village; and a woman named Martha received Him into her house.

10:39  And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the feet of Jesus, attending to his discourse.

10:40  But Martha, being perplexed about much serving, came to Him and said, Lord, dost thou not regard it, that my sister has left me to serve alone? speak to her therefore that she may help me.

10:41  And Jesus said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and in a hurry about many things: but one thing is necessary.

10:42  And Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
