Chapter 8
Mark DRC 8:1  In those days again, when there was great multitude and they had nothing to eat; calling his disciples together, he saith to them:
Mark VulgClem 8:1  In diebus illis iterum cum turba multa esset, nec haberent quod manducarent, convocatis discipulis, ait illis :
Mark KJV 8:1  In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,
Mark DRC 8:2  I have compassion on the multitude, for behold they have now been with me three days and have nothing to eat.
Mark VulgClem 8:2  Misereor super turbam : quia ecce jam triduo sustinent me, nec habent quod manducent :
Mark KJV 8:2  I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
Mark DRC 8:3  And if I shall send them away fasting to their home, they will faint in the way: for some of them came from afar off.
Mark KJV 8:3  And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
Mark DRC 8:4  And his disciples answered him: From whence can any one fill them here with bread in the wilderness?
Mark VulgClem 8:4  Et responderunt ei discipuli sui : Unde illos quis poterit saturare panibus in solitudine ?
Mark KJV 8:4  And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
Mark DRC 8:5  And he asked them: How many loaves have ye? Who said: Seven.
Mark VulgClem 8:5  Et interrogavit eos : Quot panes habetis ? Qui dixerunt : Septem.
Mark KJV 8:5  And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
Mark DRC 8:6  And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground. And taking the seven loaves, giving thanks, he broke and gave to his disciples for to set before them. And they set them before the people.
Mark KJV 8:6  And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
Mark DRC 8:7  And they had a few little fishes: and he blessed them and commanded them to be set before them.
Mark VulgClem 8:7  Et habebant pisciculos paucos : et ipsos benedixit, et jussit apponi.
Mark KJV 8:7  And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
Mark DRC 8:8  And they did eat and were filled: and they took up that which was left of the fragments, seven baskets.
Mark KJV 8:8  So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
Mark DRC 8:9  And they that had eaten were about four thousand. And he sent them away.
Mark KJV 8:9  And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
Mark DRC 8:10  And immediately going up into a ship with his disciples, he came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
Mark VulgClem 8:10  Et statim ascendens navim cum discipulis suis, venit in partes Dalmanutha.
Mark KJV 8:10  And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
Mark DRC 8:11  And the Pharisees came forth and began to question with him, asking him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
Mark KJV 8:11  And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
Mark DRC 8:12  And sighing deeply in spirit, he saith: Why doth this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, a sign shall not be given to this generation.
Mark VulgClem 8:12  Et ingemiscens spiritu, ait : Quid generatio ista signum quærit ? Amen dico vobis, si dabitur generationi isti signum.
Mark KJV 8:12  And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
Mark DRC 8:13  And leaving them, he went up again into the ship and passed to the other side of the water.
Mark VulgClem 8:13  Et dimittens eos, ascendit iterum navim et abiit trans fretum.
Mark KJV 8:13  And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.
Mark DRC 8:14  And they forgot to take bread: and they had but one loaf with them in the ship.
Mark KJV 8:14  Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.
Mark DRC 8:15  And he charged them saying: Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the leaven of Herod.
Mark VulgClem 8:15  Et præcipiebat eis, dicens : Videte, et cavete a fermento pharisæorum, et fermento Herodis.
Mark KJV 8:15  And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
Mark DRC 8:16  And they reasoned among themselves, saying: Because we have no bread.
Mark KJV 8:16  And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
Mark DRC 8:17  Which Jesus knowing, saith to them: Why do you reason, because you have no bread? Do you not yet know nor understand? Have you still your heart blinded?
Mark VulgClem 8:17  Quo cognito, ait illis Jesus : Quid cogitatis, quia panes non habetis ? nondum cognoscetis nec intelligitis ? adhuc cæcatum habetis cor vestrum ?
Mark KJV 8:17  And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
Mark DRC 8:18  Having eyes, see you not? And having ears, hear you not? Neither do you remember?
Mark KJV 8:18  Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
Mark DRC 8:19  When I broke the five loves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took you up? They say to him: Twelve.
Mark VulgClem 8:19  quando quinque panes fregi in quinque millia : quot cophinos fragmentorum plenos sustulistis ? Dicunt ei : Duodecim.
Mark KJV 8:19  When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
Mark DRC 8:20  When also the seven loaves among four thousand, how many baskets of fragments took you up? And they say to him: Seven.
Mark VulgClem 8:20  Quando et septem panes in quatuor millia : quot sportas fragmentorum tulistis ? Et dicunt ei : Septem.
Mark KJV 8:20  And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
Mark DRC 8:21  And he said to them: How do you not yet understand?
Mark VulgClem 8:21  Et dicebat eis : Quomodo nondum intelligitis ?
Mark KJV 8:21  And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
Mark DRC 8:22  And they came to Bethsaida: and they bring to him a blind man. And they besought him that he would touch him.
Mark KJV 8:22  And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
Mark DRC 8:23  And taking the blind man by the hand, he led him out of the town. And spitting upon his eyes, laying his hands on him, he asked him if he saw any thing.
Mark VulgClem 8:23  Et apprehensa manu cæci, eduxit eum extra vicum : et exspuens in oculos ejus impositis manibus suis, interrogavit eum si quid videret.
Mark KJV 8:23  And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
Mark DRC 8:24  And looking up, he said: I see men, as it were trees, walking.
Mark VulgClem 8:24  Et aspiciens, ait : Video homines velut arbores ambulantes.
Mark KJV 8:24  And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
Mark DRC 8:25  After that again he laid his hands upon his eyes: and he began to see and was restored, so that he saw all things clearly.
Mark KJV 8:25  After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
Mark DRC 8:26  And he sent him into his house, saying: Go into thy house, and if thou enter into the town, tell nobody.
Mark VulgClem 8:26  Et misit illum in domum suam, dicens : Vade in domum tuam : et si in vicum introieris, nemini dixeris.
Mark KJV 8:26  And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
Mark DRC 8:27  And Jesus went out, and his disciples into the towns of Caesarea Philippi. And in the way, he asked his disciples, saying to them: Whom do men say that I am?
Mark KJV 8:27  And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Cæsarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
Mark DRC 8:28  Who answered him, saying: John the Baptist; but some Elias, and others as one of the prophets.
Mark VulgClem 8:28  Qui responderunt illi, dicentes : Joannem Baptistam, alii Eliam, alii vero quasi unum de prophetis.
Mark KJV 8:28  And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
Mark DRC 8:29  Then he saith to them: But whom do you say that I am? Peter answering said to him: Thou art the Christ.
Mark VulgClem 8:29  Tunc dicit illis : Vos vero quem me esse dicitis ? Respondens Petrus, ait ei : Tu es Christus.
Mark KJV 8:29  And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
Mark DRC 8:30  And he strictly charged them that they should not tell any man of him.
Mark KJV 8:30  And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
Mark DRC 8:31  And he began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the ancients and by the high priests and the scribes: and be killed and after three days rise again.
Mark VulgClem 8:31  Et cœpit docere eos quoniam oportet Filium hominis pati multa, et reprobari a senioribus, et a summis sacerdotibus et scribis, et occidi : et post tres dies resurgere.
Mark KJV 8:31  And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Mark DRC 8:32  And he spoke the word openly. And Peter taking him began to rebuke him.
Mark VulgClem 8:32  Et palam verbum loquebatur. Et apprehendens eum Petrus, cœpit increpare eum.
Mark KJV 8:32  And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
Mark DRC 8:33  Who turning about and seeing his disciples, threatened Peter, saying: Go behind me, Satan, because thou savourest not the things that are of God but that are of men.
Mark KJV 8:33  But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
Mark DRC 8:34  And calling the multitude together with his disciples, he said to them: If any man will follow me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
Mark VulgClem 8:34  Et convocata turba cum discipulis suis, dixit eis : Si quis vult me sequi, deneget semetipsum : et tollat crucem suam, et sequatur me.
Mark KJV 8:34  And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mark DRC 8:35  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel shall save it.
Mark KJV 8:35  For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
Mark DRC 8:36  For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul?
Mark KJV 8:36  For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Mark DRC 8:37  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul:
Mark VulgClem 8:37  Aut quid dabit homo commutationis pro anima sua ?
Mark KJV 8:37  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Mark DRC 8:38  For he that shall be ashamed of me and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation: the Son of man also will be ashamed of him, when he shall come in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Mark KJV 8:38  Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Mark DRC 8:39  And he said to them: Amen f say to you that there are some of them that stand here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God coming in power.
Mark KJV 8:39
