27:1  Now the children of Israel according to their number, the heads of families, captains of thousands and of hundreds, and officers, that served the king according to their companies, who came in and went out every month in the year, under every chief were four and twenty thousand.

27:1  Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the chief fathers and captains of thousands and hundreds, and their officers that served the king in any matter of the courses, which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.

27:1  Filii autem Israël secundum numerum suum, principes familiarum, tribuni, et centuriones, et præfecti, qui ministrabant regi juxta turmas suas, ingredientes et egredientes per singulos menses in anno, viginti quatuor millibus singuli præerant.

27:2  Over the first company the first month Jesboam, the son of Zabdiel was chief, and under him were four and twenty thousand.

27:2  Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:2  Primæ turmæ in primo mense Jesboam præerat filius Zabdiel, et sub eo viginti quatuor millia ;

27:3  Of the sons of Phares, the chief of all the captains in the host in the first month.

27:3  Of the children of Perez was the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.

27:3  de filiis Phares, princeps cunctorum principum in exercitu mense primo.

27:4  The company of the second month was under Dudia, an Ahohite, and after him was another named Macelloth, who commanded a part of the army of four and twenty thousand.

27:4  And over the course of the second month was Dodai an Ahohite, and of his course was Mikloth also the ruler: in his course likewise were twenty and four thousand.

27:4  Secundi mensis habebat turmam Dudia Ahohites, et post se alter nomine Macelloth, qui regebat partem exercitus viginti quatuor millium.

27:5  And the captain of the third company for the third month, was Banaias the son of Joiada the priest: and in his division were four and twenty thousand.

27:5  The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:5  Dux quoque turmæ tertiæ in mense tertio erat Banaias filius Jojadæ sacerdos : et in divisione sua viginti quatuor millia.

27:6  This is that Banaias the most valiant among the thirty, and above the thirty. And Amizabad his son commanded his company.

27:6  This is that Benaiah, who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty: and in his course was Ammizabad his son.

27:6  Ipse est Banaias fortissimus inter triginta, et super triginta : præerat autem turmæ ipsius Amizabad filius ejus.

27:7  The fourth, for the fourth month, was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zabadias his son after him: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

27:7  The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:7  Quartus, mense quarto, Asahel frater Joab, et Zabadias filius ejus post eum : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

27:8  The fifth captain for the fifth month, was Samaoth a Jezerite: and his company were four and twenty thousand.

27:8  The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:8  Quintus, mense quinto, princeps Samaoth Jezerites : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

27:9  The sixth, for the sixth month, was Hira the son of Acces a Thecuite: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

27:9  The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:9  Sextus, mense sexto, Hira filius Acces Thecuites : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

27:10  The seventh, for the seventh month, was Helles a Phallonite of the sons of Ephraim: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

27:10  The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:10  Septimus, mense septimo, Helles Phallonites de filiis Ephraim : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

27:11  The eighth, for the eighth month, was Sobochai a Husathite of the race of Zarahi: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

27:11  The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:11  Octavus, mense octavo, Sobochai Husathites de stirpe Zarahi : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

27:12  The ninth, for the ninth month, was Abiezer an Anathothite of the sons of Jemini, and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

27:12  The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abi–ezer the Anetothite, of the Benjamites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:12  Nonus, mense nono, Abiezer Anathothites de filiis Jemini : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

27:13  The tenth, for the tenth month, was Marai, who was a Netophathite of the race of Zarai: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

27:13  The tenth captain for the tenth month was Maharai the Netophathite, of the Zarhites: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:13  Decimus, mense decimo, Marai, et ipse Netophathites de stirpe Zarai : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

27:14  The eleventh, for the eleventh month, was Banaias, a Pharathonite of the sons of Ephraim: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

27:14  The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:14  Undecimus, mense undecimo, Banaias Pharathonites de filiis Ephraim : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

27:15  The twelfth, for the twelfth month, was Holdai a Netophathite, of the race of Gothoniel: and in his company were four and twenty thousand.

27:15  The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

27:15  Duodecimus, mense duodecimo, Holdai Netophathites, de stirpe Gothoniel : et in turma ejus viginti quatuor millia.

27:16  Now the chiefs over the tribes of Israel were these: over the Rubenites, Eliezer the son of Zechri was ruler: over the Simeonites, Saphatias the son of Maacha:

27:16  Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah:

27:16  Porro tribubus præerant Israël, Rubenitis, dux Eliezer filius Zechri : Simeonitis, dux Saphatias filius Maacha :

27:17  Over the Levites, Hasabias the son of Camuel: over the Aaronites, Sadoc:

27:17  Of the Levites, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel: of the Aaronites, Zadok:

27:17  Levitis, Hasabias filius Camuel : Aaronitis, Sadoc :

27:18  Over Juda, Eliu the brother of David over Issachar, Amri the son of Michael:

27:18  Of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David: of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael:

27:18  Juda, Eliu frater David : Issachar, Amri filius Michaël.

27:19  Over the Zabulonites, Jesmaias the son of Adias: over the Nephtalites, Jerimoth the son of Ozriel:

27:19  Of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah: of Naphtali, Jerimoth the son of Azriel:

27:19  Zabulonitis, Jesmaias filius Abdiæ : Nephthalitibus, Jerimoth filius Ozriel :

27:20  Over the sons of Ephraim, Osee the son of Ozaziu: over the half tribe of Manasses, Joel the son of Phadaia:

27:20  Of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah: of the half tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah:

27:20  filiis Ephraim, Osee filius Ozaziu : dimidiæ tribui Manasse, Joël filius Phadaiæ :

27:21  And over the half tribe of Manasses in Galaad, Jaddo the son of Zacharias: and over Benjamin, Jasiel the son of Abner.

27:21  Of the half tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah: of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner:

27:21  et dimidiæ tribui Manasse in Galaad, Jaddo filius Zachariæ : Benjamin autem, Jasiel filius Abner :

27:22  And over Dan, Ezrihel the son of Jeroham: these were the princes of the children of Israel.

27:22  Of Dan, Azareel the son of Jeroham. These were the princes of the tribes of Israel.

27:22  Dan vero, Ezrihel filius Jeroham : hi principes filiorum Israël.

27:23  But David would not number them from twenty years old and under: because the lord had said that he would multiply Israel like the stars of heaven.

27:23  But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the Lord had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens.

27:23  Noluit autem David numerare eos a viginti annis inferius : quia dixerat Dominus ut multiplicaret Israël quasi stellas cæli.

27:24  Joab the son of Sarvia began to number, but he finished not: because upon this there fell wrath upon Israel: and therefore the number of them that were numbered, was not registered in the chronicles of king David.

27:24  Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.

27:24  Joab filius Sarviæ cœperat numerare, nec complevit : quia super hoc ira irruerat in Israël, et idcirco numerus eorum qui fuerant recensiti, non est relatus in fastos regis David.

27:25  And over the king's treasures was Azmoth the son of Adiel: and over those stores which were in the cities, and in the villages, and, in the castles, was Jonathan the son of Ozias.

27:25  And over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jehonathan the son of Uzziah:

27:25  Super thesauros autem regis fuit Azmoth filius Adiel : his autem thesauris, qui erant in urbibus, et in vicis, et in turribus, præsidebat Jonathan filius Oziæ.

27:26  And over the tillage, and the husbandmen, who tilled the ground, was Ezri the son of Chelub:

27:26  And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub:

27:26  Operi autem rustico, et agricolis qui exercebant terram, præerat Ezri filius Chelub :

27:27  And over the dressers of the vine yards, was Semeias a Romathite: and over the wine cellars, Zabdias an Aphonite.

27:27  And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite:

27:27  vinearumque cultoribus, Semeias Romathites : cellis autem vinariis, Zabdias Aphonites.

27:28  And over the oliveyards and the fig groves, which were in the plains, was Balanam a Gederite: and over the oil cellars, Joas.

27:28  And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains was Baal–hanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was Joash:

27:28  Nam super oliveta et ficeta quæ erant in campestribus, Balanam Gederites : super apothecas autem olei, Joas.

27:29  And over the herds that fed in Saron, was Setrai a Saronite: and over the oxen in the valleys, Saphat the son of Adli:

27:29  And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai:

27:29  Porro armentis quæ pascebantur in Saron, præpositus fuit Setrai Saronites : et super boves in vallibus, Saphat filius Adli :

27:30  And over the camels, Ubil an Ishmahelite and over the asses, Jadias a Meronathite:

27:30  Over the camels also was Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite:

27:30  super camelos vero, Ubil Ismahelites : et super asinos, Jadias Meronathites :

27:31  And over the sheep Jaziz an Agarene. All these were the rulers of the substance of king David.

27:31  And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David’s.

27:31  super oves quoque, Jaziz Agareus : omnes hi, principes substantiæ regis David.

27:32  And Jonathan David's uncle, a counsellor, a wise and learned man: he and Jahiel the son of Hachamoni were with the king's sons.

27:32  Also Jonathan David’s uncle was a counsellor, a wise man, and a scribe: and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons:

27:32  Jonathan autem patruus David, consiliarius, vir prudens et litteratus : ipse et Jahiel filius Hachamoni erant cum filiis regis.

27:33  And Achitophel was the king's counsellor, and Chusai the Arachite, the king's friend.

27:33  And Ahithophel was the king’s counsellor: and Hushai the Archite was the king’s companion:

27:33  Achitophel etiam consiliarius regis, et Chusai Arachites amicus regis.

27:34  And after Achitophel was Joiada the son of Banaias, and Abiathar. And the general of the king's army was Joab.

27:34  And after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar: and the general of the king’s army was Joab.

27:34  Post Achitophel fuit Jojada filius Banaiæ, et Abiathar. Princeps autem exercitus regis erat Joab.
