Chapter 40
Ezek DRC 40:1  In the five and twentieth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, the tenth day of the month, the fourteenth year after the city was destroyed: in the selfsame day the hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me thither.

Ezek DRC 40:2  In the visions of God he brought me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain: upon which there was as the building of a city, bending towards the south.

Ezek DRC 40:3  And he brought me in thither, and behold a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed in his hand, and he stood in the gate.

Ezek DRC 40:4  And this man said to me: Son of man, see with thy eyes, and hear with thy ears, and set thy heart upon all that I shall shew thee: for thou art brought hither that they may be shewn to thee: declare all that thou seest, to the house of Israel.
Ezek KJV 40:4  And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.
Ezek VulgClem 40:4  Et locutus est ad me idem vir : Fili hominis, vide oculis tuis, et auribus tuis audi, et pone cor tuum in omnia quæ ego ostendam tibi, quia ut ostendantur tibi adductus es huc. Annuntia omnia quæ tu vides domui Israël.
Ezek DRC 40:5  And behold there was a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man's hand a measuring reed of six cubits and a handbreadth: and he measured the breadth of the building one reed, and the height one reed.
Ezek KJV 40:5  And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the cubit and an hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.

Ezek DRC 40:6  And he came to the gate that looked toward the east, and he went up the steps thereof: and he measured the breadth of the threshold of the gate one reed, that is, one threshold was one reed broad;
Ezek KJV 40:6  Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.
Ezek VulgClem 40:6  Et venit ad portam quæ respiciebat viam orientalem, et ascendit per gradus ejus : et mensus est limen portæ calamo uno latitudinem, id est, limen unum calamo uno in latitudine.
Ezek DRC 40:7  And every little chamber was one reed long, and one reed broad: and between the little chambers were five cubits:
Ezek KJV 40:7  And every little chamber was one reed long, and one reed broad; and between the little chambers were five cubits; and the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate within was one reed.

Ezek DRC 40:8  And the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate within, was one reed.
Ezek KJV 40:8  He measured also the porch of the gate within, one reed.

Ezek DRC 40:9  And he measured the porch of the gate eight cubits, and the front thereof two cubits: and the porch of the gate was inward.

Ezek VulgClem 40:9  Et mensus est vestibulum portæ octo cubitorum, et frontem ejus duobus cubitis : vestibulum autem portæ erat intrinsecus.
Ezek DRC 40:10  And the little chambers of the gate that looked eastward were three on this side, and three on that side: all three were of one measure, and the fronts of one measure, on both parts.
Ezek KJV 40:10  And the little chambers of the gate eastward were three on this side, and three on that side; they three were of one measure: and the posts had one measure on this side and on that side.
Ezek VulgClem 40:10  Porro thalami portæ ad viam orientalem, tres hinc et tres inde : mensura una trium, et mensura una frontium ex utraque parte.
Ezek DRC 40:11  And he measured the breadth of the threshold of the gate ten cubits: and the length of the gate thirteen cubits:
Ezek KJV 40:11  And he measured the breadth of the entry of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits.
Ezek VulgClem 40:11  Et mensus est latitudinem liminis portæ decem cubitorum, et longitudinem portæ tredecim cubitorum.
Ezek DRC 40:12  And the border before the little chambers one cubit: and one cubit was the border on both sides: and the little chambers were six cubits on this side and that side.
Ezek KJV 40:12  The space also before the little chambers was one cubit on this side, and the space was one cubit on that side: and the little chambers were six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side.

Ezek DRC 40:13  And he measured the gate from the roof of one little chamber to the roof of another, in breadth five and twenty cubits: door against door.

Ezek DRC 40:14  He made also fronts of sixty cubits: and to the front the court of the gate on every side round about.

Ezek DRC 40:16  And slanting windows in the little chambers, and in their fronts, which were within the gate on every side round about: and in like manner there were also in the porches windows round about within, and before the fronts the representation of palm trees.
Ezek KJV 40:16  And there were narrow windows to the little chambers, and to their posts within the gate round about, and likewise to the arches: and windows were round about inward: and upon each post were palm trees.
Ezek VulgClem 40:16  Et fenestras obliquas in thalamis et in frontibus eorum, quæ erant intra portam undique per circuitum : similiter autem erant et in vestibulis fenestræ per gyrum intrinsecus, et ante frontes pictura palmarum.
Ezek DRC 40:17  And he brought me into the outward court, and behold there were chambers, and a pavement of stone in the court round about: thirty chambers encompassed the pavement.
Ezek KJV 40:17  Then brought he me into the outward court, and, lo, there were chambers, and a pavement made for the court round about: thirty chambers were upon the pavement.
Ezek VulgClem 40:17  Et eduxit me ad atrium exterius : et ecce gazophylacia, et pavimentum stratum lapide in atrio per circuitum : triginta gazophylacia in circuitu pavimenti.
Ezek DRC 40:18  And the pavement in the front of the gates according to the length of the gates was lower.
Ezek KJV 40:18  And the pavement by the side of the gates over against the length of the gates was the lower pavement.
Ezek VulgClem 40:18  Et pavimentum in fronte portarum, secundum longitudinem portarum erat inferius.
Ezek DRC 40:19  And he measured the breadth from the face of the lower gate to the front of the inner court without, a hundred cubits to the east, and to the north.
Ezek KJV 40:19  Then he measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward.
Ezek VulgClem 40:19  Et mensus est latitudinem a facie portæ inferioris usque ad frontem atrii interioris extrinsecus : centum cubitos ad orientem et ad aquilonem.
Ezek DRC 40:20  He measured also both the length and the breadth of the gate of the outward court, which looked northward.
Ezek KJV 40:20  And the gate of the outward court that looked toward the north, he measured the length thereof, and the breadth thereof.
Ezek VulgClem 40:20  Portam quoque quæ respiciebat viam aquilonis atrii exterioris, mensus est tam in longitudine quam in latitudine.
Ezek DRC 40:21  And the little chambers thereof three on this side, and three on that side: and the front thereof, and the porch thereof according to the measure of the former gate, fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.
Ezek KJV 40:21  And the little chambers thereof were three on this side and three on that side; and the posts thereof and the arches thereof were after the measure of the first gate: the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.

Ezek DRC 40:22  And the windows thereof, and the porch, and the gravings according to the measure of the gate that looked to the east, and they went up to it by seven steps, and a porch was before it.
Ezek KJV 40:22  And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.
Ezek VulgClem 40:22  Fenestræ autem ejus, et vestibulum, et sculpturæ secundum mensuram portæ quæ respiciebat ad orientem : et septem graduum erat ascensus ejus, et vestibulum ante eam.
Ezek DRC 40:23  And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate of the north, and that of the east: and he measured from gate to gate a hundred cubits.
Ezek KJV 40:23  And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.

Ezek DRC 40:24  And he brought me out to the way of the south, and behold the gate that looked to the south: and he measured the front thereof, and the porch thereof according to the former measures.
Ezek KJV 40:24  After that he brought me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south: and he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according to these measures.
Ezek VulgClem 40:24  Et eduxit me ad viam australem : et ecce porta quæ respiciebat ad austrum : et mensus est frontem ejus et vestibulum ejus juxta mensuras superiores.
Ezek DRC 40:25  And the windows thereof, and the porches round about, as the other windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
Ezek KJV 40:25  And there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about, like those windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
Ezek VulgClem 40:25  Et fenestras ejus, et vestibula in circuitu, sicut fenestras ceteras : quinquaginta cubitorum longitudine, et latitudine viginti quinque cubitorum.
Ezek DRC 40:26  And there were seven steps to go up to it: and a porch before the doors thereof: and there were graven palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side in the front thereof.
Ezek KJV 40:26  And there were seven steps to go up to it, and the arches thereof were before them: and it had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, upon the posts thereof.

Ezek DRC 40:27  And there was a gate of the inner court towards the south: and he measured from gate to gate towards the south, a hundred cubits.
Ezek KJV 40:27  And there was a gate in the inner court toward the south: and he measured from gate to gate toward the south an hundred cubits.

Ezek DRC 40:28  And he brought me into the inner court at the south gate: and he measured the gate according to the former measures.

Ezek VulgClem 40:28  Et introduxit me in atrium interius ad portam australem : et mensus est portam juxta mensuras superiores.
Ezek DRC 40:29  The little chamber thereof, and the front thereof, and the porch thereof with the same measures: and the windows thereof, and the porch thereof round about it was fifty cubits in length, and five and twenty cubits in breadth.
Ezek KJV 40:29  And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, according to these measures: and there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.

Ezek KJV 40:33  And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, were according to these measures: and there were windows therein and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.

Ezek DRC 40:38  And at every chamber was a door in the forefronts of the gates: there they washed the holocaust.
Ezek KJV 40:38  And the chambers and the entries thereof were by the posts of the gates, where they washed the burnt offering.
Ezek VulgClem 40:38  Et per singula gazophylacia ostium in frontibus portarum : ibi lavabant holocaustum.
Ezek DRC 40:39  And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side: that the holocaust, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering might be slain thereon.

Ezek VulgClem 40:39  Et in vestibulo portæ, duæ mensæ hinc, et duæ mensæ inde, ut immoletur super eas holocaustum, et pro peccato et pro delicto.
Ezek DRC 40:40  And on the outward side, which goeth up to the entry of the gate that looketh toward the north, were two tables: and at the other side before the porch of the gate were two tables,
Ezek KJV 40:40  And at the side without, as one goeth up to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the other side, which was at the porch of the gate, were two tables.

Ezek DRC 40:41  Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side at the sides of the gate were eight tables, upon which they slew the victims.
Ezek KJV 40:41  Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their sacrifices.
Ezek VulgClem 40:41  quatuor mensæ hinc, et quatuor mensæ inde : per latera portæ octo mensæ erant, super quas immolabant.
Ezek DRC 40:42  And the four tables for the holocausts were made of square stones: one cubit and a half long, and one cubit and a half broad, and one cubit high: to lay the vessels upon, in which the holocaust and the victim is slain.
Ezek KJV 40:42  And the four tables were of hewn stone for the burnt offering, of a cubit and an half long, and a cubit and an half broad, and one cubit high: whereupon also they laid the instruments wherewith they slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice.

Ezek DRC 40:43  And the borders of them were of one handbreadth, turned inwards round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering.
Ezek KJV 40:43  And within were hooks, an hand broad, fastened round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering.
Ezek VulgClem 40:43  Et labia earum palmi unius, reflexa intrinsecus per circuitum : super mensas autem carnes oblationis.
Ezek DRC 40:44  And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singing men in the inner court, which was on the side of the gate that looketh to the north: and their prospect was towards the south, one at the side of the east gate, which looketh toward the north.
Ezek KJV 40:44  And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
Ezek VulgClem 40:44  Et extra portam interiorem, gazophylacia cantorum in atrio interiori, quod erat in latere portæ respicientis ad aquilonem : et facies eorum contra viam australem : una ex latere portæ orientalis, quæ respiciebat ad viam aquilonis.
Ezek DRC 40:45  And he said to me: This chamber, which looketh toward the south shall be for the priests that watch in the wards of the temple.
Ezek KJV 40:45  And he said unto me, This chamber, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.
Ezek VulgClem 40:45  Et dixit ad me : Hoc est gazophylacium quod respicit viam meridianam : sacerdotum erit, qui excubant in custodiis templi.
Ezek DRC 40:46  But the chamber that looketh towards the north shall be for the priests that watch over the ministry of the altar. These are the sons of Sadoc, who among the sons of Levi, come near to the Lord, to minister to him.
Ezek KJV 40:46  And the chamber whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the Lord to minister unto him.
Ezek VulgClem 40:46  Porro gazophylacium quod respicit ad viam aquilonis, sacerdotum erit, qui excubant ad ministerium altaris : isti sunt filii Sadoc, qui accedunt de filiis Levi ad Dominum ut ministrent ei.
Ezek DRC 40:47  And he measured the court a hundred cubits long, and a hundred cubits broad foursquare: and the altar that was before the face of the temple.
Ezek KJV 40:47  So he measured the court, an hundred cubits long, and an hundred cubits broad, foursquare; and the altar that was before the house.
Ezek VulgClem 40:47  Et mensus est atrium longitudine centum cubitorum, et latitudine centum cubitorum per quadrum : et altare ante faciem templi.
Ezek DRC 40:48  And he brought me into the porch of the temple: and he measured the porch five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.
Ezek KJV 40:48  And he brought me to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.
Ezek VulgClem 40:48  Et introduxit me in vestibulum templi : et mensus est vestibulum quinque cubitis hinc, et quinque cubitis inde : et latitudinem portæ trium cubitorum hinc, et trium cubitorum inde.
Ezek DRC 40:49  And the length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits, and there were eight steps to go up to it. And there were pillars in the fronts: one on this side, and another on that side.
Ezek KJV 40:49  The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.
Ezek VulgClem 40:49  Longitudinem autem vestibuli viginti cubitorum, et latitudinem undecim cubitorum, et octo gradibus ascendebatur ad eam. Et columnæ erant in frontibus : una hinc, et altera inde.
