Chapter 10
I Co DRC 10:1  For I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud: and all passed through the sea.
I Co KJV 10:1  Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
I Co VulgClem 10:1  Nolo enim vos ignorare fratres, quoniam patres nostri omnes sub nube fuerunt, et omnes mare transierunt,
I Co DRC 10:2  And all in Moses were baptized, in the cloud and in the sea:
I Co KJV 10:2  And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
I Co DRC 10:3  And did all eat the same spiritual food:
I Co KJV 10:3  And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
I Co VulgClem 10:3  et omnes eamdem escam spiritalem manducaverunt,
I Co DRC 10:4  And all drank the same spiritual drink: (And they drank of the spiritual rock that followed them: and the rock was Christ.)
I Co KJV 10:4  And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
I Co DRC 10:5  But with most of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the desert.
I Co KJV 10:5  But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
I Co DRC 10:6  Now these things were done in a figure of us, that we should not covet evil things, as they also coveted.
I Co KJV 10:6  Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
I Co DRC 10:7  Neither become ye idolaters, as some of them, as it is written: The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.
I Co KJV 10:7  Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
I Co DRC 10:8  Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them that committed fornication: and there fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
I Co KJV 10:8  Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
I Co DRC 10:9  Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them tempted and perished by the serpent.
I Co KJV 10:9  Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
I Co VulgClem 10:9  Neque tentemus Christum, sicut quidam eorum tentaverunt, et a serpentibus perierunt.
I Co DRC 10:10  Neither do you murmur, as some of them murmured and were destroyed by the destroyer.
I Co KJV 10:10  Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
I Co VulgClem 10:10  Neque murmuraveritis, sicut quidam eorum murmuraverunt, et perierunt ab exterminatore.
I Co DRC 10:11  Now all these things happened to them in figure: and they are written for our correction, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
I Co KJV 10:11  Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
I Co DRC 10:12  Wherefore, he that thinketh himself to stand, let him take heed lest he fall.
I Co KJV 10:12  Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
I Co DRC 10:13  Let no temptation take hold on you, but such as is human. And God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able: but will make also with temptation issue, that you may be able to bear it.
I Co KJV 10:13  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
I Co DRC 10:14  Wherefore, my dearly beloved, fly from the service of idols.
I Co KJV 10:14  Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
I Co VulgClem 10:14  Propter quod, carissimi mihi, fugite ab idolorum cultura :
I Co DRC 10:15  I speak as to wise men: judge ye yourselves what I say.
I Co KJV 10:15  I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
I Co VulgClem 10:15  ut prudentibus loquor, vos ipsi judicate quod dico.
I Co DRC 10:16  The chalice of benediction which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? And the bread which we break, is it not the partaking of the body of the Lord?
I Co KJV 10:16  The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
I Co VulgClem 10:16  Calix benedictionis, cui benedicimus, nonne communicatio sanguinis Christi est ? et panis quem frangimus, nonne participatio corporis Domini est ?
I Co DRC 10:17  For we, being many, are one bread, one body: all that partake of one bread.
I Co KJV 10:17  For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
I Co VulgClem 10:17  Quoniam unus panis, unum corpus multi sumus, omnes qui de uno pane participamus.
I Co DRC 10:18  Behold Israel according to the flesh. Are not they that eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
I Co KJV 10:18  Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
I Co VulgClem 10:18  Videte Israël secundum carnem : nonne qui edunt hostias, participes sunt altaris ?
I Co DRC 10:19  What then? Do I say that what is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? Or that the idol is any thing?
I Co KJV 10:19  What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
I Co DRC 10:20  But the things which the heathens sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils and not to God. And I would not that you should be made partakers with devils.
I Co KJV 10:20  But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
I Co VulgClem 10:20  Sed quæ immolant gentes, dæmoniis immolant, et non Deo. Nolo autem vos socios fieri dæmoniorum :
I Co DRC 10:21  You cannot drink the chalice of the Lord and the chalice of devils: you cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord and of the table of devils.
I Co KJV 10:21  Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
I Co DRC 10:22  Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he? All things are lawful for me: but all things are not expedient.
I Co KJV 10:22  Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
I Co VulgClem 10:22  An æmulamur Dominum ? numquid fortiores illo sumus ? Omnia mihi licent, sed non omnia expediunt.
I Co DRC 10:23  All things are lawful for me: but all things do not edify.
I Co KJV 10:23  All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
I Co VulgClem 10:23  Omnia mihi licent, sed non omnia ædificat.
I Co DRC 10:24  Let no man seek his own, but that which is another's.
I Co KJV 10:24  Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.
I Co DRC 10:25  Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, eat: asking no question for conscience' sake.
I Co KJV 10:25  Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
I Co VulgClem 10:25  Omne quod in macello venit, manducate, nihil interrogantes propter conscientiam.
I Co DRC 10:26  The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof.
I Co KJV 10:26  For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.
I Co VulgClem 10:26  Domini est terra, et plenitudo ejus.
I Co DRC 10:27  If any of them that believe not, invite you, and you be willing to go: eat of any thing that is set before you, asking no question for conscience' sake.
I Co KJV 10:27  If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
I Co VulgClem 10:27  Si quis vocat vos infidelium, et vultis ire : omne quod vobis apponitur, manducate, nihil interrogantes propter conscientiam.
I Co DRC 10:28  But if any man say: This has been sacrificed to idols: do not eat of it, for his sake that told it and for conscience' sake.
I Co KJV 10:28  But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:
I Co VulgClem 10:28  Si quis autem dixerit : Hoc immolatum est idolis : nolite manducare propter illum qui indicavit, et propter conscientiam :
I Co DRC 10:29  Conscience I say, not thy own, but the other's. For why is my liberty judged by another man's conscience?
I Co KJV 10:29  Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?
I Co DRC 10:30  If I partake with thanksgiving, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
I Co KJV 10:30  For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
I Co DRC 10:31  Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatsoever else you do, do all to the glory of God.
I Co KJV 10:31  Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
I Co VulgClem 10:31  Sive ergo manducatis, sive bibitis, sive aliud quid facitis : omnia in gloriam Dei facite.
I Co DRC 10:32  Be without offence to the Jew, and to the Gentiles and to the church of God:
I Co KJV 10:32  Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
I Co VulgClem 10:32  Sine offensione estote Judæis, et gentibus, et ecclesiæ Dei :
I Co DRC 10:33  As I also in all things please all men, not seeking that which is profitable to myself but to many: that they may be saved.
I Co KJV 10:33  Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
