Chapter 11
Hebr DRC 11:1  Now, faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not.
Hebr KJV 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebr DRC 11:2  For by this the ancients obtained a testimony.
Hebr KJV 11:2  For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Hebr DRC 11:3  By faith we understand that the world was framed by the word of God: that from invisible things visible things might be made.
Hebr KJV 11:3  Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Hebr DRC 11:4  By faith Abel offered to God a sacrifice exceeding that of Cain, by which he obtained a testimony that he was just, God giving testimony to his gifts. And by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Hebr KJV 11:4  By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
Hebr DRC 11:5  By faith Henoch was translated that he should not see death: and he was not found because God had translated him. For before his translation he had testimony that he pleased God.
Hebr KJV 11:5  By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Hebr DRC 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God must believe that he is: and is a rewarder to them that seek him.
Hebr KJV 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebr DRC 11:7  By faith Noe, having received an answer concerning those things which as yet were not seen, moved with fear, framed the ark for the saving of his house: by the which he condemned the world and was instituted heir of the justice which is by faith.
Hebr KJV 11:7  By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Hebr DRC 11:8  By faith he that is called Abraham obeyed to go out into a place which he was to receive for an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Hebr VulgClem 11:8  Fide qui vocatur Abraham obedivit in locum exire, quem accepturus erat in hæreditatem : et exiit, nesciens quo iret.
Hebr KJV 11:8  By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
Hebr DRC 11:9  By faith he abode in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in cottages, with Isaac and Jacob, the co-heirs of the same promise.
Hebr VulgClem 11:9  Fide demoratus est in terra repromissionis, tamquam in aliena, in casulis habitando cum Isaac et Jacob cohæredibus repromissionis ejusdem.
Hebr KJV 11:9  By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
Hebr DRC 11:10  For he looked for a city that hath foundations: whose builder and maker is God.
Hebr KJV 11:10  For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
Hebr DRC 11:11  By faith also Sara herself, being barren, received strength to conceive seed, even past the time of age: because she believed that he was faithful who had promised,
Hebr KJV 11:11  Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
Hebr DRC 11:12  For which cause there sprung even from one (and him as good as dead) as the stars of heaven in multitude and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
Hebr KJV 11:12  Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
Hebr DRC 11:13  All these died according to faith, not having received the promises but beholding them afar off and saluting them and confessing that they are pilgrims and strangers on the earth.
Hebr KJV 11:13  These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Hebr DRC 11:14  For they that say these things do signify that they seek a country.
Hebr VulgClem 11:14  Qui enim hæc dicunt, significant se patriam inquirere.
Hebr KJV 11:14  For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
Hebr DRC 11:15  And truly, if they had been mindful of that from whence they came out, they had doubtless, time to return.
Hebr VulgClem 11:15  Et si quidem ipsius meminissent de qua exierunt, habebant utique tempus revertendi :
Hebr KJV 11:15  And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
Hebr DRC 11:16  But now they desire a better, that is to say, a heavenly country. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
Hebr KJV 11:16  But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
Hebr DRC 11:17  By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

Hebr KJV 11:17  By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
Hebr DRC 11:18  (To whom it was said: In Isaac shalt thy seed be called:)
Hebr KJV 11:18  Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
Hebr DRC 11:19  Accounting that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Whereupon also he received him for a parable.
Hebr KJV 11:19  Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
Hebr DRC 11:20  By faith also of things to come Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau.

Hebr DRC 11:24  By faith Moses, when he was grown up, denied himself to be the son of Pharao's daughter:
Hebr VulgClem 11:24  Fide Moyses grandis factus negavit se esse filium filiæ Pharaonis,
Hebr KJV 11:24  By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;
Hebr DRC 11:25  Rather choosing to be afflicted with the people of God than to have the pleasure of sin for a time:
Hebr VulgClem 11:25  magis eligens affligi cum populo Dei, quam temporalis peccati habere jucunditatem,
Hebr KJV 11:25  Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
Hebr DRC 11:26  Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasure of the Egyptians. For he looked unto the reward.
Hebr VulgClem 11:26  majores divitias æstimans thesauro Ægyptiorum, improperium Christi : aspiciebat enim in remunerationem.
Hebr KJV 11:26  Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
Hebr DRC 11:27  By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the fierceness of the king: for he endured, as seeing him that is invisible.
Hebr VulgClem 11:27  Fide reliquit Ægyptum, non veritus animositatem regis : invisibilem enim tamquam videns sustinuit.
Hebr KJV 11:27  By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
Hebr DRC 11:28  By faith he celebrated the pasch and the shedding of the blood: that he who destroyed the firstborn might not touch them.

Hebr KJV 11:31  By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
Hebr DRC 11:32  And what shall I yet say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, Barac, Samson, Jephthe, David, Samuel, and the prophets:

Hebr KJV 11:32  And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
