20:1  But David fled from Najoth, which is in Ramatha, and came and said to Jonathan: What have I done? what is my iniquity, and what is my sin against thy father, that he seeketh my life?

20:1  David uprchl z prorockého domu v Rámě a přišel si Jónatanovi postěžovat: „Co jsem provedl? Jaký je můj zločin? Jaký je můj hřích vůči tvému otci, že mi ukládá o život?“

20:1  David ale z chýší v Rámě uprchl. Přišel k Jonatanovi a ptal se: „Co jsem provedl? Čím jsem se provinil? Jak jsem tvému otci ublížil, že mi chce vzít život?“

20:1  David utekl z Nájótu u Rámy, ⌈přišel za Jónatanem a zeptal se:⌉ Co jsem udělal? Jaká je má vina a jaký je můj hřích vůči tvému otci, že usiluje o můj život?

20:1  V tom utíkaje David z Náiot, kteréž jest v Ráma, přišel a mluvil před Jonatou: Což jsem učinil? Jaká jest nepravost má? A jaký jest hřích můj před otcem tvým, že hledá bezživotí mého?

20:1  And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what [is] my iniquity? and what [is] my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?

20:1  Fugit autem David de Najoth, quæ est in Ramatha, veniensque locutus est coram Jonatha : Quid feci ? quæ est iniquitas mea, et quod peccatum meum in patrem tuum, quia quærit animam meam ?

20:2  And he said to him: (God forbid, thou shalt not die: for my father will do nothing, great or little, without first telling me: hath then my father hid this word only from me? no, this shall not be.

20:2  And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will shew it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.

20:2  On mu odvětil: „Toho buď dalek! Nezemřeš. Vždyť můj otec neudělá ani to nejmenší, aniž se mi svěří. Proč by tohle můj otec přede mnou skrýval? Není tomu tak.“

20:2  „Nic takového!“ odpověděl Jonatan. „Nemáš zemřít. Můj otec přece nedělá nic velkého ani malého, aniž by se mi svěřil. Proč by právě tohle přede mnou skrýval? Tak to není.“

20:2  Odpověděl mu: ⌈Ať je to od tebe vzdáleno,⌉ nezemřeš. Podívej, můj otec neudělá nic ⌈velkého ani malého,⌉ aniž by mi to prozradil. Proč by můj otec něco takového přede mnou skrýval? ⌈Není tomu tak.⌉

20:2  Kterýž řekl jemu: Odstup to, neumřeš. Aj, nečiníť otec můj ničeho ani velikého ani malého, čehož by se mi nesvěřil. Jak by tedy otec můj tajil to přede mnou! Neníť toho.

20:2  And he said to him, Far be it from thee; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing, either great or small, but that he will show it to me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it [is] not [so].

20:2  He said to him, "Far from it; you shall not die. Behold, my father does nothing either great or small, but that he discloses it to me; and why should my father hide this thing from me? It is not so."

20:2  And he said to him, God forbid; you shall not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will show it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.

20:2  Qui dixit ei : Absit, non morieris : neque enim faciet pater meus quidquam grande vel parvum, nisi prius indicaverit mihi : hunc ergo celavit me pater meus sermonem tantummodo ? nequaquam erit istud.

20:3  And he swore again to David. And David said: Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thy sight, and he will say: Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved. But truly as the Lord liveth, and thy soul liveth, there is but one step (as I may say) between me and death.

20:3  And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.

20:3  David se ještě zapřisáhl a odporoval: „Tvůj otec určitě ví, že jsem získal tvou přízeň. Řekl: ‚Ať o tom neví Jónatan, aby se netrápil.‘ Nicméně, jakože živ je Hospodin a jakože živ jsi ty, od smrti mě dělí jen krůček.“

20:3  David mu to ale odpřisáhl. Řekl mu: „Tvůj otec určitě ví, že sis mě oblíbil. Proto si říká: ‚Raději ať o tom Jonatan neví, aby se netrápil.‘ Ale jakože je živ Hospodin a živ jsi ty, od smrti mě dělí už jen krok!“

20:3  David se ještě zapřísahal: Tvůj otec dobře ví, že jsem ⌈nalezl milost ve tvých očích⌉ a řekl si: Ať se to Jónatan nedozví, jinak se bude trápit. Avšak jakože živ je Hospodin a jakože ⌈živ jsi ty,⌉ jen ⌈krok je mezi mnou a smrtí.⌉

20:3  Nadto přisáhl také David, (to promluviv: Dobřeť ví otec tvůj, že jsi laskav na mne, protož myslí: Nechť neví o tom Jonata, aby neměl zámutku.) Nýbrž jistě, živť jest Hospodin, a živať jest duše tvá, že sotva jest kročej mezi mnou a mezi smrtí.

20:3  And David swore moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thy eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he should be grieved: But truly [as] the LORD liveth, and [as] thy soul liveth, [there is] but a step between me and death.

20:3  David swore moreover, and said, "Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes; and he says, 'Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved:' but truly as the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death."

20:3  And David swore moreover, and said, Your father certainly knows that I have found grace in your eyes; and he said, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.

20:3  Et juravit rursum Davidi. Et ille ait : Scit profecto pater tuus quia inveni gratiam in oculis tuis, et dicet : Nesciat hoc Jonathas, ne forte tristetur. Quinimmo vivit Dominus, et vivit anima tua, quia uno tantum (ut ita dicam) gradu ego morsque dividimur.

20:4  And Jonathan said to David: Whatsoever thy soul shall say to me, I will do for thee.

20:4  Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee.

20:4  Jónatan se tedy Davida otázal: „Co chceš, abych pro tebe udělal?“

20:4  Jonatan odpověděl: „Udělám pro tebe, cokoli budeš chtít.“

20:4  Jónatan Davidovi pověděl: ⌈Cokoliv řekneš,⌉ to pro tebe udělám.

20:4  Odpověděl Jonata Davidovi: Pověz, čehokoli žádáš, a učiním tobě.

20:4  Then said Jonathan to David, Whatever thy soul desireth, I will even do [it] for thee.

20:4  Then Jonathan said to David, "Whatever your soul desires, I will even do it for you."

20:4  Et ait Jonathas ad David : Quodcumque dixerit mihi anima tua, faciam tibi.

20:5  And David said to Jonathan: Behold to morrow is the new moon, and I, according to custom, am wont to sit beside the king to eat: let me go then that I may be hid in the field till the evening of the third day.

20:5  And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.

20:5  David Jónatanovi řekl: „Hle, zítra je novoluní a já mám sedět s králem u jídla. Propusť mě a já se budu až do třetího dne navečer skrývat v poli.

20:5  David tedy Jonatanovi řekl: „Jak víš, zítra je slavnost novoluní a já bych měl sedět s králem u jídla. Nech mě ale odejít a skrýt se venku na poli až do pozítří večer.

20:5  Nato David Jónatanovi řekl: Podívej, zítra je novoluní a já mám zasednout s králem k jídlu. Propusť mě, abych se až do třetího večera ukryl na poli.

20:5  I řekl David Jonatovi: Aj, zítra bude novměsíce, kdyžto já mám obyčej sedati s králem k jídlu; protož propusť mne, a skryji se na poli až do třetího večera.

20:5  And David said to Jonathan, Behold, to morrow [is] the new-moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field to the third [day] at evening.

20:5  David said to Jonathan, "Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to dine with the king; but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field to the third day at evening.

20:5  And David said to Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field to the third day at even.

20:5  Dixit autem David ad Jonathan : Ecce calendæ sunt crastino, et ego ex more sedere soleo juxta regem ad vescendum : dimitte ergo me ut abscondar in agro usque ad vesperam diei tertiæ.

20:6  If thy father look and inquire for me, thou shalt answer him: David asked me that he might run to Bethlehem, his own city: because there are solemn sacrifices there for all of his tribe.

20:6  If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Beth–lehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.

20:6  Bude-li mě tvůj otec pohřešovat, řekneš: ‚David mě naléhavě prosil, aby si směl odběhnout do svého města Betléma; koná se tam výroční obětní hod pro celou čeleď.‘

20:6  If thy father shall at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked [leave] of me, that he might run to Beth-lehem his city: for [there is] a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.

20:6  If your father miss me at all, then say, 'David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city; for it is the yearly sacrifice there for all the family.'

20:6  Si respiciens requisierit me pater tuus, respondebis ei : Rogavit me David ut iret celeriter in Bethlehem civitatem suam, quia victimæ solemnes ibi sunt universis contribulibus suis.

20:7  If he shall say: It is well: thy servant shall have peace: but if he be angry, know that his malice is come to its height.

20:7  If he say thus, It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him.

20:7  Jestliže řekne: ‚Dobře‘, může být tvůj služebník klidný, jestliže však ho popadne vztek, věz, že se odhodlal k nejhoršímu.

20:7  Pokud na to řekne: ‚Dobrá,‘ pak jsem v bezpečí. Pokud se ale rozzuří, pak věz, že se mě rozhodl zabít.

20:7  Jestliže řekne: Dobře, ⌈znamená to pokoj pro tvého otroka.⌉ Ale jestliže se velmi rozzlobí, věz, že ⌈je rozhodnut vykonat něco zlého.⌉

20:7  Řekne-liť: Dobře, pokoj služebníku tvému; pakliť se rozzlobí, věz, žeť se doplnila zlost jeho.

20:7  If he shall say thus, [It is] well; thy servant will have peace: but if he shall be very wroth, [then] be sure that evil is determined by him.

20:7  If he says, 'It is well;' your servant shall have peace: but if he be angry, then know that evil is determined by him.

20:7  If he say thus, It is well; your servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him.

20:7  Si dixerit : Bene : pax erit servo tuo. Si autem fuerit iratus, scito quia completa est malitia ejus.

20:8  Deal mercifully then with thy servant: for thou hast brought me, thy servant, into a covenant of the Lord with thee. But if there be any iniquity in me, do thou kill me, and bring me not in to thy father.

20:8  Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the Lord with thee: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?

20:8  Prokaž proto milosrdenství svému služebníku, neboť jsi vstoupil se svým služebníkem ve smlouvu před Hospodinem. Jestliže jsem spáchal nějaký zločin, usmrť mě ty sám. Proč bys mě teď vodil ke svému otci?“

20:8  Tehdy mě, svému služebníku, prokaž laskavost – vždyť jsi se mnou před Hospodinem vstoupil do smlouvy. Jsem-li vinen, zabij mě sám. Proč bys mě vodil ke svému otci?“

20:8  Prokaž svému otroku milosrdenství, neboť jsi uvedl svého otroka v Hospodinovu smlouvu se sebou. Jestliže je na mně vina, usmrť mě ty. Proč bys mě vodil ke svému otci?

20:8  A tak učiníš milosrdenství s služebníkem svým, poněvadž jsi v smlouvu Hospodinovu uvedl služebníka svého s sebou. Pakliť jest na mně nepravost, zabí mne sám; nebo k otci svému proč bys mne vodil?

20:8  Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee: notwithstanding, if there is in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldst thou bring me to thy father?

20:8  Therefore deal kindly with your servant; for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the Lord with you: but if there is iniquity in me, kill me yourself; for why should you bring me to your father?"

20:8  Therefore you shall deal kindly with your servant; for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the LORD with you: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me yourself; for why should you bring me to your father?

20:8  Fac ergo misericordiam in servum tuum, quia fœdus Domini me famulum tuum tecum inire fecisti : si autem est iniquitas aliqua in me, tu me interfice, et ad patrem tuum ne introducas me.

20:9  And Jonathan said: Far be this from thee: for if I should certainly know that evil is determined by my father against thee, I could do no otherwise than tell thee.

20:9  And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?

20:9  Ale Jónatan odvětil: „Toho buď dalek! Dozvím-li se bezpečně, že se můj otec vůči tobě odhodlal k nejhoršímu, neoznámím ti to snad?“

20:9  „To nikdy!“ zvolal Jonatan. „Pokud zjistím, že se tě můj otec rozhodl zabít, určitě ti to dám vědět!“

20:9  Jónatan odpověděl: Ať je to od tebe vzdáleno. Jestliže se opravdu dozvím, že ⌈můj otec je rozhodnut vykonat vůči tobě něco zlého,⌉ ⌈oznámím ti to.⌉

20:9  I řekl Jonata: Odstup to od tebe; nebo zvím-liť to jistotně, že by se doplnila zlost otce mého, aby přišla na tě, zdaliž neoznámím tobě toho?

20:9  And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil is determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?

20:9  Jonathan said, "Far be it from you; for if I should at all know that evil were determined by my father to come on you, then wouldn't I tell you that?"

20:9  And Jonathan said, Far be it from you: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come on you, then would not I tell it you?

20:10  And David answered Jonathan: Who shall bring me word, if thy father should answer thee harshly concerning me?

20:10  Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if thy father answer thee roughly?

20:10  David se Jónatana otázal: „Kdo mi oznámí, když ti tvůj otec odpoví tvrdě?“

20:10  „A kdo mi poví, jestli ti tvůj otec odpověděl hrubě?“ zeptal se David Jonatana.

20:10  David se zeptal Jónatana: Kdo mi to oznámí, když ti tvůj otec odpoví tvrdě?

20:10  Řekl také David Jonatovi: Kdož mi oznámí, jestliže odpoví tobě otec tvůj něco tvrdě?

20:10  Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what [if] thy father shall answer thee roughly?

20:10  Then David said to Jonathan, "Who shall tell me if perchance your father answers you roughly?"

20:10  Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if your father answer you roughly?

20:10  Responditque David ad Jonathan : Quis renuntiabit mihi, si quid forte responderit tibi pater tuus dure de me ?

20:11  And Jonathan said to David: Come, and let us go out into the field. And when they were both of them gone out into the field,

20:11  Et ait Jonathas ad David : Veni, et egrediamur foras in agrum. Cumque exissent ambo in agrum,

20:12  Jonathan said to David: O Lord God of Israel, if I shall discover my father's mind, to morrow, or the day after, and there be any thing good for David, and I send not immediately to thee, and make it known to thee,

20:12  And Jonathan said unto David, O Lord God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee;

20:12  Tu řekl Jónatan Davidovi: „Při Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele! Když zítra či pozítří v příhodnou dobu od svého otce vyzvím, že je to s Davidem dobré, tedy k tobě nikoho nepošlu a nebudu ti nic vzkazovat.

20:12  Jonatan Davidovi řekl: „Při Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele, zjistím, co můj otec zamýšlí! Pozítří v určenou dobou ti vzkážu, zda je to s Davidem dobré, nebo ne. Přece bych ti to nezatajil.

20:12  Jónatan řekl Davidovi: ⌈Při Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele,⌉ zítra touto dobou či pozítří se vyptám svého otce. Jestliže ⌈bude s Davidem dobře,⌉ tehdy pošlu za tebou a prozradím ti to.

20:12  Opět řekl Jonata Davidovi: Hospodin Bůh Izraelský, (hned jakž porozumím na otci svém, okolo tohoto času zítra neb pozejtří, an bude dobře s Davidem, jestliže nepošli tehdáž k tobě, a neoznámím-liť,)

20:12  And Jonathan said to David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to-morrow any time, [or] the third [day], and behold, [if there be] good towards David, and I then send not to thee, and show it thee;

20:12  Jonathan said to David, "By the Lord, the God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about this time tomorrow, or the third day, behold, if there is good toward David, shall I not then send to you, and disclose it to you?

20:12  And Jonathan said to David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not to you, and show it you;

20:12  ait Jonathas ad David : Domine Deus Israël, si investigavero sententiam patris mei crastino vel perendie, et aliquid boni fuerit super David, et non statim misero ad te, et notum tibi fecero,

20:13  May the Lord do so and so to Jonathan, and add still more. But if my father shall continue in malice against thee, I will discover it to thy ear, and will send thee away, that thou mayst go in peace, and the Lord be with thee, as he hath been with my father.

20:13  The Lord do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the Lord be with thee, as he hath been with my father.

20:13  Ať se mnou Hospodin udělá, co chce! Vzkážu ti, rozhodne-li se můj otec vůči tobě pro to nejhorší. Propustím tě a půjdeš v pokoji. Hospodin buď s tebou, jako byl s mým otcem.

20:13  Pokud ti ale můj otec bude chtít ublížit, pak ať mě Hospodin potrestá a ještě mi přidá, kdybych ti to zatajil a nepropustil tě v pokoji. Ať je Hospodin s tebou, jako býval s mým otcem.

20:13  Jestliže můj otec zamýšlí vůči tobě zlo, ať tak Hospodin učiní Jónatanovi a ještě přidá, pokud ti to neprozradím a nepropustím tě, abys odešel v pokoji. Ať je Hospodin s tebou, tak jako byl s mým otcem.

20:13  Toto učiň Hospodin Jonatovi a toto přidej. Pakliť se bude líbiti otci mému uvésti zlé na tebe, takéť i to zjevím tobě a propustím tě; i půjdeš v pokoji, a Hospodin budiž s tebou, jakož byl s otcem mým.

20:13  The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it shall please my father [to do] thee evil, then I will show it to thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.

20:13  The Lord do so to Jonathan, and more also, should it please my father to do you evil, if I do not disclose it to you, and send you away, that you may go in peace: and the Lord be with you, as he has been with my father.

20:13  The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do you evil, then I will show it you, and send you away, that you may go in peace: and the LORD be with you, as he has been with my father.

20:13  hæc faciat Dominus Jonathæ, et hæc addat. Si autem perseveraverit patris mei malitia adversum te, revelabo aurem tuam, et dimittam te, ut vadas in pace, et sit Dominus tecum, sicut fuit cum patre meo.

20:14  And if I live, thou shalt shew me the kindness of the Lord: but if I die,

20:14  And thou shalt not only while yet I live shew me the kindness of the Lord, that I die not:

20:14  Avšak i ty mi prokazuj Hospodinovo milosrdenství, pokud budu živ a nezemřu,

20:14  Pokud budu živ, i ty mi prokazuj Hospodinovu laskavost. A pokud zemřu,

20:14  Dokud ještě žiji, prokazuj mi ⌈Hospodinovo milosrdenství,⌉ ⌈abych nezemřel.⌉

20:14  A zdaliž i ty, dokud jsem živ, neučiníš se mnou milosrdenství Hospodinova, ano bychť i umřel,

20:14  And thou shalt, not only while yet I live, show me the kindness of the LORD, that I may not die:

20:14  You shall not only while yet I live show me the loving kindness of the Lord, that I not die;

20:14  And you shall not only while yet I live show me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:

20:14  Et si vixero, facies mihi misericordiam Domini : si vero mortuus fuero,

20:15  Thou shalt not take away thy kindness from my house for ever, when the Lord shall have rooted out the enemies of David, every one of them from the earth, may he take away Jonathan from his house, and may the Lord require it at the hands of David's enemies.

20:15  But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the Lord hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
