LUKE
Chapter 17
Luke | Murdock | 17:1 | And Jesus said to his disciples: It cannot be, but that offences will come: but woe to him, by whom they come.
Luke | Murdock | 17:2 | Better for him were it, if a millstone were suspended to his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.
Luke | Murdock | 17:3 | Take heed to yourselves. If thy brother transgress, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
Luke | Murdock | 17:4 | And if he shall offend against thee seven times in a day, and, seven times in a day, shall turn himself to thee, and say, I repent; forgive him.
Luke | Murdock | 17:6 | He said to them: If ye had faith like a grain of mustard seed, ye might say to this mulberry-tree, Be thou torn up by the roots, and be thou planted in the sea; and it would obey you.
Luke | Murdock | 17:7 | Which of you, having a servant driving a yoke of oxen, or tending sheep, will say to him when he cometh from the field, Pass on at once, and recline for supper?
Luke | Murdock | 17:8 | But he will say to him: Prepare for me what I may sup upon, and gird thy loins and serve me, until I have eaten and drunken; and afterwards thou shalt eat and drink.
Luke | Murdock | 17:9 | Hath he thanks for him, because the servant did what was commanded him? I think not.
Luke | Murdock | 17:10 | So also ye, when ye have done all the things commanded you, say: We are unprofitable servants, for we have done only what we were obligated to do.
Luke | Murdock | 17:11 | And it occurred as Jesus advanced towards Jerusalem, that he passed among the Samaritans into Galilee.
Luke | Murdock | 17:12 | And when he drew near to enter a certain village, there met him ten leprous men; and they stood at a distance,
Luke | Murdock | 17:14 | And when he had looked upon them, he said to them: Go, show yourselves to the priests. And as they were going, they were cleansed.
Luke | Murdock | 17:15 | And one of them, when he saw that he was cleansed, returned, and with a loud voice, glorified God.
Luke | Murdock | 17:16 | And he fell on his face, at the feet of Jesus, and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan.
Luke | Murdock | 17:17 | And Jesus answered, and said: Were they not ten who were cleansed? Where are the nine?
Luke | Murdock | 17:18 | Have they so gone as not to come and give glory to God; except this one, who is of another nation?
Luke | Murdock | 17:20 |
And as | |
Luke | Murdock | 17:21 | And they will not say: Behold, here it is! or, Behold, it is there! For lo, the kingdom of God is within you
Luke | Murdock | 17:22 |
And he said to his disciples: The days will come, when ye will long to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye will not see
Luke | Murdock | 17:24 | For, as the lightning darteth from the heavens, and illuminateth all beneath the heavens; so will the Son of man be, in his day.
Luke | Murdock | 17:25 | But, previously, he is to suffer many things, and to be rejected by this generation.
Luke | Murdock | 17:27 | They ate and drank, they took wives and were given to husbands, until the day that Noah entered the ark; and the flood came, and destroyed every one.
Luke | Murdock | 17:28 | And again, as it was in the days of Lot; they ate and drank, bought and sold, planted and built.
Luke | Murdock | 17:29 | But in the day that Lot went out of Sodom, the Lord rained fire and sulphur from heaven, and destroyed them all.
Luke | Murdock | 17:31 |
In that day, let him that is on the house-top, and his goods in the house, not come down to take them: and let him that is in the field, not return
Luke | Murdock | 17:33 | He that desireth to preserve his life, will lose it; and he that will lose his life, shall preserve it.
Luke | Murdock | 17:34 | I tell you, that, in that night, two will be in one bed; one will be taken, and the other left.
Luke | Murdock | 17:35 | And two females will be grinding together; one will be taken, and the other left.
