LUKE
Chapter 5
Luke | RKJNT | 5:1 | And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret,
Luke | RKJNT | 5:2 | And saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gotten out of them, and were washing their nets.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:3 | And he got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people from the boat.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:4 | Now when he finished speaking, he said to Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:5 | And Simon answered him, Master, we have toiled all night, and have caught nothing: nevertheless at your word I will let down the net.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:6 | And when they had done this, they enclosed a great multitude of fish: and their net began to break.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:7 | And they beckoned to their partners, who were in the other boat, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:8 | When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:9 | For he was astonished, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had taken:
Luke | RKJNT | 5:10 | And so were James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not; from now on you shall catch men.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:11 | And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:12 | And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, there came a man full of leprosy; who, seeing Jesus, fell on his face and begged him, saying, Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:13 | And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:14 | And he ordered him to tell no man: But go, and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:15 | But his fame was spread abroad so much the more: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:17 | And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting there, who had come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present for him to heal.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:18 | And, behold, men brought a man on a mat who was paralysed: and they sought to bring him in, and to lay him before him.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:19 | And when they could not find a way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went up on the roof, and let him down through the tiling with his mat into the midst of the crowd in front of Jesus.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:21 | And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
Luke | RKJNT | 5:22 | But Jesus, aware of their thoughts, answered and said to them, Why do you question in your hearts?
Luke | RKJNT | 5:24 | But that you may know that the Son of man has power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said to the paralytic,) I say to you, Arise, and take up your mat, and go to your house.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:25 | And immediately he rose up before them, and took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his house, glorifying God.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:26 | And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things today.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:27 | And after these things he went forth, and saw a tax gatherer, named Levi, sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, Follow me.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:29 | And Levi made a great feast in his own house for him: and there was a great company of tax gatherers and of others who were reclining at table with them.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:30 | But the scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do you eat and drink with tax gatherers and sinners?
Luke | RKJNT | 5:31 | And Jesus answered and said to them, Those who are well do not need a physician; but those who are sick.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:33 | And they said to him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but yours eat and drink?
Luke | RKJNT | 5:34 | And he said to them, Can you make the wedding guests fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
Luke | RKJNT | 5:35 | But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast in those days.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:36 | And he also spoke a parable to them; No man puts a piece of a new garment upon an old garment; if he does, then the new garment is torn, and the piece that was taken out of the new garment does not match the old.
Luke | RKJNT | 5:37 | And no man puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does the new wine will burst the skins, and be spilled, and the skins will be ruined.
