MARK
Chapter 8
Mark | RKJNT | 8:1 | In those days another great multitude gathered, and as they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him, and said to them,
Mark | RKJNT | 8:2 | I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
Mark | RKJNT | 8:3 | And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint on the way: for some of them came from afar.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:4 | And his disciples answered him, Where can a man find enough bread to satisfy these men here in the wilderness?
Mark | RKJNT | 8:6 | And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and broke them, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and they set them before the people.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:7 | And they had a few small fish: which he blessed, and commanded to be set before them as well.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:8 | So they ate, and were filled: and of the broken pieces that were left over they picked up seven baskets.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:10 | And immediately he entered into a boat with his disciples, and went to the district of Dalmanutha.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:11 | And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, testing him.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:12 | And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and said, Why does this generation seek after a sign? truly I say to you, There shall be no sign given to this generation.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:14 | Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, and did not have in the boat with them more than one loaf.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:15 | And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and the leaven of Herod.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:17 | And being aware of this, Jesus said to them, Why do you discuss having no bread? do you not yet see or understand? are your hearts hardened?
Mark | RKJNT | 8:18 | Having eyes, do you not see? and having ears, do you not hear? and do you not remember?
Mark | RKJNT | 8:19 | When I broke the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you pick up? They said to him, Twelve.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:20 | And when I broke the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you pick up? And they said, Seven.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:22 | And he came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to him, and begged him to touch him.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:23 | And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the village; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw anything.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:25 | After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw everything clearly.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:27 | And Jesus went out, with his disciples, to the villages of Caesarea Philippi: and on the way he asked his disciples, saying to them, Who do men say that I am?
Mark | RKJNT | 8:28 | And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:29 | And he said to them, But who do you say that I am? And Peter answered and said to him, You are the Christ.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:31 | And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and by the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:33 | But when he had turned about and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get behind me, Satan: for you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things that are of men.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:34 | And when he had called the people to him, with his disciples also, he said to them, Whoever would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:35 | For whoever would save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, shall save it.
Mark | RKJNT | 8:36 | For what does it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
