Chapter 25
Matt DRC 25:1  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be like to ten virgins, who taking their lamps went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride.
Matt VulgClem 25:1  Tunc simile erit regnum cælorum decem virginibus : quæ accipientes lampades suas exierunt obviam sponso et sponsæ.
Matt KJV 25:1  Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Matt DRC 25:2  And five of them were foolish and five wise.
Matt KJV 25:2  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Matt DRC 25:3  But the five foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them.
Matt KJV 25:3  They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Matt DRC 25:4  But the wise took oil in their vessels with the lamps.
Matt VulgClem 25:4  prudentes vero acceperunt oleum in vasis suis cum lampadibus.
Matt KJV 25:4  But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Matt DRC 25:5  And the bridegroom tarrying, they all slumbered and slept.
Matt KJV 25:5  While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Matt DRC 25:6  And at midnight there was a cry made: Behold the bridegroom cometh. Go ye forth to meet him.
Matt VulgClem 25:6  Media autem nocte clamor factus est : Ecce sponsus venit, exite obviam ei.
Matt KJV 25:6  And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Matt DRC 25:7  Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.
Matt VulgClem 25:7  Tunc surrexerunt omnes virgines illæ, et ornaverunt lampades suas.
Matt KJV 25:7  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Matt DRC 25:8  And the foolish said to the wise: Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out.
Matt VulgClem 25:8  Fatuæ autem sapientibus dixerunt : Date nobis de oleo vestro, quia lampades nostræ extinguuntur.
Matt KJV 25:8  And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Matt DRC 25:9  The wise answered, saying: Lest perhaps there be not enough for us and for you, go ye rather to them that sell and buy for yourselves.
Matt KJV 25:9  But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Matt DRC 25:10  Now whilst they went to buy the bridegroom came: and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage. And the door was shut.
Matt KJV 25:10  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Matt DRC 25:11  But at last came also the other virgins, saying: Lord, Lord, open to us.
Matt VulgClem 25:11  Novissime vero veniunt et reliquæ virgines, dicentes : Domine, domine, aperi nobis.
Matt KJV 25:11  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Matt DRC 25:12  But he answering said: Amen I say to you, I know you not.
Matt VulgClem 25:12  At ille respondens, ait : Amen dico vobis, nescio vos.
Matt KJV 25:12  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Matt DRC 25:13  Watch ye therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour.
Matt VulgClem 25:13  Vigilate itaque, quia nescitis diem, neque horam.
Matt KJV 25:13  Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Matt DRC 25:14  For even as a man going into a far country called his servants and delivered to them his goods;
Matt VulgClem 25:14  Sicut enim homo peregre proficiscens, vocavit servos suos, et tradidit illis bona sua.
Matt KJV 25:14  For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
Matt DRC 25:15  And to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to every one according to his proper ability: and immediately he took his journey.
Matt VulgClem 25:15  Et uni dedit quinque talenta, alii autem duo, alii vero unum, unicuique secundum propriam virtutem : et profectus est statim.
Matt KJV 25:15  And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
Matt DRC 25:16  And he that had received the five talents went his way and traded with the same and gained other five.
Matt KJV 25:16  Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
Matt DRC 25:17  And in like manner he that had received the two gained other two.
Matt KJV 25:17  And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
Matt DRC 25:18  But he that had received the one, going his way, digged into the earth and hid his lord's money.
Matt VulgClem 25:18  Qui autem unum acceperat, abiens fodit in terram, et abscondit pecuniam domini sui.
Matt KJV 25:18  But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
Matt DRC 25:19  But after a long time the lord of those servants came and reckoned with them.
Matt VulgClem 25:19  Post multum vero temporis venit dominus servorum illorum, et posuit rationem cum eis.
Matt KJV 25:19  After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
Matt DRC 25:20  And he that had received the five talents coming, brought other five talents, saying: Lord, thou didst deliver to me five talents. Behold I have gained other five over and above.
Matt VulgClem 25:20  Et accedens qui quinque talenta acceperat, obtulit alia quinque talenta, dicens : Domine, quinque talenta tradidisti mihi, ecce alia quinque superlucratus sum.
Matt KJV 25:20  And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
Matt DRC 25:21  His lord said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant, because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will place thee over many things. Enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matt VulgClem 25:21  Ait illi dominus ejus : Euge serve bone, et fidelis : quia super pauca fuisti fidelis, super multa te constituam ; intra in gaudium domini tui.
Matt KJV 25:21  His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matt DRC 25:22  And he also that had received the two talents came and said: Lord, thou deliveredst two talents to me. Behold I have gained other two.
Matt KJV 25:22  He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
Matt DRC 25:23  His lord said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant: because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will place thee over many things. Enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matt VulgClem 25:23  Ait illi dominus ejus : Euge serve bone, et fidelis : quia super pauca fuisti fidelis, super multa te constituam ; intra in gaudium domini tui.
Matt KJV 25:23  His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matt DRC 25:24  But he that had received the one talent, came and said: Lord, I know that thou art a hard man; thou reapest where thou hast not sown and gatherest where thou hast not strewed.
Matt KJV 25:24  Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
Matt DRC 25:25  And being afraid, I went and hid thy talent in the earth. Behold here thou hast that which is thine.
Matt KJV 25:25  And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
Matt DRC 25:26  And his lord answering, said to him: Wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sow not and gather where I have not strewed.
Matt KJV 25:26  His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Matt DRC 25:27  Thou oughtest therefore to have committed my money to the bankers: and at my coming I should have received my own with usury.
Matt KJV 25:27  Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Matt DRC 25:28  Take ye away therefore the talent from him and give it him that hath ten talents.
Matt KJV 25:28  Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Matt DRC 25:29  For to every one that hath shall be given, and he shall abound: but from him that hath not, that also which he seemeth to have shall be taken away.
Matt KJV 25:29  For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
Matt DRC 25:30  And the unprofitable servant, cast ye out into the exterior darkness. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matt VulgClem 25:30  Et inutilem servum ejicite in tenebras exteriores : illic erit fletus, et stridor dentium.
Matt KJV 25:30  And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matt DRC 25:31  And when the Son of man shall come in his majesty, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit upon the seat of his majesty.
Matt VulgClem 25:31  Cum autem venerit Filius hominis in majestate sua, et omnes angeli cum eo, tunc sedebit super sedem majestatis suæ :
Matt KJV 25:31  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Matt DRC 25:32  And all nations shall be gathered together before him: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats:
Matt VulgClem 25:32  et congregabuntur ante eum omnes gentes, et separabit eos ab invicem, sicut pastor segregat oves ab hædis :
Matt KJV 25:32  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Matt DRC 25:33  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left.
Matt VulgClem 25:33  et statuet oves quidem a dextris suis, hædos autem a sinistris.
Matt KJV 25:33  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Matt DRC 25:34  Then shall the king say to them that shall be on his right hand: Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
Matt VulgClem 25:34  Tunc dicet rex his qui a dextris ejus erunt : Venite benedicti Patris mei, possidete paratum vobis regnum a constitutione mundi :
Matt KJV 25:34  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Matt DRC 25:35  For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat: I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in:
Matt VulgClem 25:35  esurivi enim, et dedistis mihi manducare : sitivi, et dedistis mihi bibere : hospes eram, et collegistis me :
Matt KJV 25:35  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Matt DRC 25:36  Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me.
Matt VulgClem 25:36  nudus, et cooperuistis me : infirmus, et visitastis me : in carcere eram, et venistis ad me.
Matt KJV 25:36  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Matt DRC 25:37  Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry and fed thee: thirsty and gave thee drink?
Matt KJV 25:37  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Matt DRC 25:38  Or when did we see thee a stranger and took thee in? Or naked and covered thee?
Matt KJV 25:38  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Matt DRC 25:39  Or when did we see thee sick or in prison and came to thee?
Matt KJV 25:39  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Matt DRC 25:40  And the king answering shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me.
Matt VulgClem 25:40  Et respondens rex, dicet illis : Amen dico vobis, quamdiu fecistis uni ex his fratribus meis minimis, mihi fecistis.
Matt KJV 25:40  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Matt DRC 25:41  Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, which was prepared for the devil and his angels.
Matt VulgClem 25:41  Tunc dicet et his qui a sinistris erunt : Discedite a me maledicti in ignem æternum, qui paratus est diabolo, et angelis ejus :
Matt KJV 25:41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Matt DRC 25:42  For I was hungry and you gave me not to eat: I was thirsty and you gave me not to drink.
Matt KJV 25:42  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
Matt DRC 25:43  I was a stranger and you took me not in: naked and you covered me not: sick and in prison and you did not visit me.
Matt VulgClem 25:43  hospes eram, et non collegistis me : nudus, et non cooperuistis me : infirmus, et in carcere, et non visitastis me.
Matt KJV 25:43  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Matt DRC 25:44  Then they also shall answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister to thee?
Matt KJV 25:44  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Matt DRC 25:45  Then he shall answer them, saying: Amen: I say to you, as long as you did it not to one of these least, neither did you do it to me.
Matt KJV 25:45  Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Matt DRC 25:46  And these shall go into everlasting punishment: but the just, into life everlasting.
Matt VulgClem 25:46  Et ibunt hi in supplicium æternum : justi autem in vitam æternam.
Matt KJV 25:46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
