Chapter 1
II T | AFV2020 | 1:1 | Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians, which is in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
II T | AFV2020 | 1:3 | We are duty-bound to thank God always for you, brethren, even as it is fitting, because your faith is increasing abundantly, and the love of each one of you is abounding toward one another;
II T | AFV2020 | 1:4 | So that we ourselves are boasting about you in the churches of God because of your endurance and faith in all your persecutions, and in the tribulations that you are bearing.
II T | AFV2020 | 1:5 | Your faith and endurance are a visible testimony of the righteous judgment of God, so that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
II T | AFV2020 | 1:6 | Since it is righteous with God to recompense tribulation to those who are persecuting you;
II T | AFV2020 | 1:7 | And to you, who are persecuted, rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with His mighty angels,
II T | AFV2020 | 1:8 | Dealing out vengeance with flaming fire upon those who do not know God, and those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ;
II T | AFV2020 | 1:9 | Who will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His strength,
II T | AFV2020 | 1:10 | When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in that day in all those who believe (because our testimony was believed by you);
II T | AFV2020 | 1:11 | For which cause also we are praying continually for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and may fulfill in you all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power;
Chapter 2
II T | AFV2020 | 2:1 | Now we beseech you, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,
II T | AFV2020 | 2:2 | That you not be quickly shaken in mind, nor be troubled—neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by epistle, as if from us, saying that the day of Christ is present.
II T | AFV2020 | 2:3 | Do not let anyone deceive you by any means because that day will not come unless the apostasy shall come first, and the man of sin shall be revealed—the son of perdition,
II T | AFV2020 | 2:4 | The one who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is an object of worship; so that he comes into the temple of God and sits down as God, proclaiming that he himself is God.
II T | AFV2020 | 2:6 | And now you understand what is holding him back in order for him to be revealed in his own set time.
II T | AFV2020 | 2:7 | For the mystery of lawlessness is already working; only there is one Who is restraining at the present time until it arises out of the midst.
II T | AFV2020 | 2:8 | And then the lawless one will be revealed (whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth, and will destroy with the brightness of His coming);
II T | AFV2020 | 2:9 | Even the one whose coming is according to the inner working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders,
II T | AFV2020 | 2:10 | And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in those who are perishing because they did not receive the love of the truth, so that they might be saved.
II T | AFV2020 | 2:11 | And for this cause, God will send upon them a powerful deception that will cause them to believe the lie,
II T | AFV2020 | 2:12 | So that all may be judged who did not believe the truth, but who took pleasure in unrighteousness.
II T | AFV2020 | 2:13 | Now we are duty-bound to give thanks to God always concerning you, brethren, who are beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning has called you unto salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth
II T | AFV2020 | 2:14 | Unto which He called you by our gospel to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
II T | AFV2020 | 2:15 | So then, brethren, stand firm, and hold fast the ordinances that you were taught, whether by word or by our epistle.
II T | AFV2020 | 2:16 | Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God—even our Father, Who loved us and gave us eternal encouragement and good hope through grace—
Chapter 3
II T | AFV2020 | 3:1 | As for the rest, brethren, pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may spread rapidly and may be glorified, in the same way that it has been with you;
II T | AFV2020 | 3:2 | And that we may be delivered from perverse and wicked men, for all are not of the faith.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:4 | Now concerning you, we trust in the Lord that you both practice and will be practicing the things that we command you.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:5 | And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the endurance of Christ.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:6 | Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who is walking irresponsibly and not according to the ordinance that he received from us.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:7 | For you yourselves understand that you should do exactly as we have done because we have not behaved irresponsibly among you,
II T | AFV2020 | 3:8 | Nor did we eat food at someone else's expense, but we were working day and night with labor and toil so that we would not be burdensome to anyone among you.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:9 | We were not obligated to work because we did not have authority to receive from you; rather, we chose to work in order that we might personally give you a pattern to imitate.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:10 | For indeed, when we were with you, this is what we commanded you: that if anyone is not willing to work, he should not be allowed to eat.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:11 | For we hear that some among you are walking irresponsibly, not working at all, but are behaving as busybodies.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:12 | As for such individuals, we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ that with quietness they work in order that they may eat their own food.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:14 | Now if anyone does not obey our word by this epistle, take notice of that man and do not associate with him so that he may be ashamed.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:16 | Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.
II T | AFV2020 | 3:17 | The salutation of Paul by my own hand, which is the sign in every epistle— so I write.
