43:1  The firmament on high is his beauty, the beauty of heaven with its glorious shew.

43:1  Chlouba výšin je jasná obloha – jak slavná podívaná jsou nebesa!

43:1  Altitudinis firmamentum pulchritudo ejus est, species cæli in visione gloriæ.

43:2  The sun when he appeareth shewing forth at his rising, an admirable instrument, the work of the most High.

43:2  Slunce, když vychází, už za úsvitu hlásá: dílo Nejvyššího, podivuhodná krása!

43:2  Sol in aspectu annuntians in exitu, vas admirabile, opus Excelsi.

43:3  At noon he burneth the earth, and who can abide his burning heat? As one keeping a furnace in the works of heat:

43:3  V poledne vysušuje celý kraj – kdo jeho žáru odolá?

43:3  In meridiano exurit terram, et in conspectu ardoris ejus quis poterit sustinere ? fornacem custodiens in operibus ardoris :

43:4  The sun three times as much, burneth the mountains, breathing out fiery vapours, and shining with his beams, he blindeth the eyes.

43:4  Člověk rozdmýchává pec, aby ji rozžhavil, slunce však rozpaluje kopce třikrát víc. Jeho ohnivých dechem se vzduch tetelí, zář jeho paprsků oslepuje oči.

43:4  tripliciter sol exurens montes, radios igneos exsufflans, et refulgens radiis suis obcæcat oculos.

43:5  Great is the Lord that made him, and at his words he hath hastened his course.

43:5  Veliký je Hospodin, který stvořil slunce, a to na jeho povel spěchá po své dráze.

43:5  Magnus Dominus qui fecit illum, et in sermonibus ejus festinavit iter.

43:6  And the moon in all in her season, is for a declaration of times and a sign of the world.

43:6  Měsíc je všude v pravou chvíli, ukazuje čas, je věčným znamením.

43:6  Et luna in omnibus in tempore suo, ostensio temporis, et signum ævi.

43:7  From the moon is the sign of the festival day, a light that decreaseth in her perfection.

43:7  Měsíc vyznačuje doby pravidelných slavností: když dospěje k úplňku, ubývá jeho svit,

43:7  A luna signum diei festi : luminare quod minuitur in consummatione.

43:8  The month is called after her name, increasing wonderfully in her perfection.

43:8  a než uplyne „měsíc“ (to proto se tak jmenuje), zas podivuhodně doroste. Jako korouhev vojsku vysoko nahoře září na klenbě nebeské.

43:8  Mensis secundum nomen ejus est, crescens mirabiliter in consummatione.

43:9  Being an instrument of the armies on high, shining gloriously in the firmament of heaven.

43:9  Hvězdy svou slávou krášlí nebesa, ozdobně září na Hospodinových výšinách.

43:9  Vas castrorum in excelsis, in firmamento cæli resplendens gloriose.

43:10  The glory of the stars is the beauty of heaven; the Lord enlighteneth the world on high.

43:10  Na povel Svatého se staví na místa, nikdy neochabují, když drží stráž.

43:10  Species cæli gloria stellarum : mundum illuminans in excelsis Dominus.

43:11  By the words of the holy one they stand in judgment, and shall never fall in their watches.

43:11  Pohleď na duhu a jejího Stvořitele chval – jak nesmírně krásný je její jas!

43:11  In verbis Sancti stabunt ad judicium, et non deficient in vigiliis suis.

43:12  Look upon the rainbow, and bless him that made it: it is very beautiful in its brightness.

43:12  Obloukem své slávy objímá nebesa – Nejvyšší ji napjal vlastníma rukama!

43:12  Vide arcum, et benedic eum qui fecit illum : valde speciosus est in splendore suo.

43:13  It encompasseth the heaven about with the circle of its glory, the hands of the most High have displayed it.

43:13  Na jeho rozkaz padá sníh, jeho rozhodnutím blesky šlehají.

43:13  Gyravit cælum in circuitu gloriæ suæ : manus Excelsi aperuerunt illum.

43:14  By his commandment he maketh the snow to fall apace, and sendeth forth swiftly the lightnings of his judgment.

43:14  Když se otevřou dveře jeho pokladnic, mraky se odtud jak ptáci rozletí.

43:14  Imperio suo acceleravit nivem, et accelerat coruscationes emittere judicii sui.

43:15  Through this are the treasures opened, and the clouds fly out like birds.

43:15  Svou velikou mocí hromadí mraky a ty pak rozbíjí v lední tříšť.

43:15  Propterea aperti sunt thesauri, et evolaverunt nebulæ sicut aves.

43:16  By his greatness he hath fixed the clouds, and the hailstones are broken.

43:16  a když se ukáže, chvějí se hory. Na jeho přání se zvedá jižní vítr,

43:16  In magnitudine sua posuit nubes, et confracti sunt lapides grandinis.

43:17  At his sight shall the mountains be shaken, and at his will the south wind shall blow.

43:17  Hlas jeho hromu otřásá zemí, stejně i vichřice a prudký severák.

43:17  In conspectu ejus commovebuntur montes, et in voluntate ejus aspirabit notus.

43:18  The noise of his thunder shall strike the earth, so doth the northern storm, and the whirlwind:

43:18  Sněhové vločky sype jak třepetavé ptáčky, jako když se snášejí hejna kobylek; bělostně září, až oči přecházejí, nad jejich chumelením se tají dech!

43:18  Vox tonitrui ejus verberavit terram, tempestas aquilonis, et congregatio spiritus :

43:19  And as the birds lighting upon the earth, he scattereth snow, and the falling thereof, is as the coming down of locusts.

43:19  Jinovatkou jako by solil zem, její střípky se ježí v námraze.

43:19  et sicut avis deponens ad sedendum, aspergit nivem, et sicut locusta demergens descensus ejus.

43:20  The eye admireth at the beauty of the whiteness thereof, and the heart is astonished at the shower thereof.

43:20  Studený severák zaduje a na vodě ztvrdne led – rozprostře se po každé hladině a pokryje vodu krunýřem.

43:20  Pulchritudinem candoris ejus admirabitur oculus, et super imbrem ejus expavescet cor.

43:21  He shall pour frost as salt upon the earth: and when it freezeth, it shall become like the tops of thistles.

43:21  Polyká hory a rozpaluje pouště, svým žárem hubí všechnu zeleň.

43:21  Gelu sicut salem effundet super terram : et dum gelaverit, fiet tamquam cacumina tribuli.

43:22  The cold north wind bloweth, and the water is congealed into crystal; upon every gathering together of waters it shall rest, and shall clothe the waters as a breastplate.

43:22  Potom zas mlha vše rychle uzdraví a rosa po vedru přinese osvěžení.

43:22  Frigidus ventus aquilo flavit, et gelavit crystallus ab aqua : super omnem congregationem aquarum requiescet, et sicut lorica induet se aquis :

43:23  And it shall devour the mountains, and burn the wilderness, and consume all that is green as with fire.

43:23  Hospodin svou myšlenkou zkrotil mořské hlubiny a zasadil v nich ostrovy.

43:23  et devorabit montes, et exuret desertum, et extinguet viride, sicut igne.

43:24  A present remedy of all is the speedy coming of a cloud, and a dew that meeteth it, by the heat that cometh, shall overpower it.

43:24  Lodníci vyprávějí o nebezpečích na moři a my jen žasneme nad jejich zprávami:

43:24  Medicina omnium in festinatione nebulæ : et ros obvians ab ardore venienti humilem efficiet eum.

43:25  At his word the wind is still, and with his thought he appeaseth the deep, and the Lord hath planted islands therein.

43:25  Jsou tam zvláštní a divná stvoření, rozmanití živočichové a mořské obludy.

43:25  In sermone ejus siluit ventus, et cogitatione sua placavit abyssum : et plantavit in illa Dominus insulas.

43:26  Let them that sail on the sea, tell the dangers thereof: and when we hear with our ears, we shall admire.

43:26  Díky Bohu jeho posel k cíli dorazí, díky jeho slovu vše drží pospolu.

43:26  Qui navigant mare enarrent pericula ejus, et audientes auribus nostris admirabimur.

43:27  There are great and wonderful works: a variety of beasts, and of all living things, and the monstrous creatures of whales.

43:27  Dalo by se toho ještě říci mnoho, a stejně by to nestačilo, závěrem zbývá říci jen: On je všechno!

43:27  Illic præclara opera et mirabilia, varia bestiarum genera, et omnium pecorum, et creatura belluarum.

43:28  Through him is established the end of their journey, and by his word all things are regulated.

43:28  Kde najdeme sílu, jak ho oslavit? On přesahuje vše, co učinil!

43:28  Propter ipsum confirmatus est itineris finis, et in sermone ejus composita sunt omnia.

43:29  We shall say much, and yet shall want words: but the sum of our words is, He is all.

43:29  Hrozný je Hospodin a nesmírně veliký, jeho moc budí zděšení.

43:29  Multa dicemus, et deficiemus in verbis : consummatio autem sermonum ipse est in omnibus.

43:30  What shall we be able to do to glorify him? for the Almighty himself is above all his works.

43:30  Oslavujte Hospodina, vyvyšujte jej, jak umíte, on to vše ale stejně přesáhne. Vyvyšujte ho bez ustání ze všech sil, stejně to ale nestačí.

43:30  Gloriantes ad quid valebimus ? ipse enim omnipotens super omnia opera sua.

43:31  The Lord is terrible, and exceeding great, and his power is admirable.

43:31  Kdo ho kdy viděl, aby jej vylíčil? Kdo ho umí velebit, jak náleží?

43:31  Terribilis Dominus, et magnus vehementer, et mirabilis potentia ipsius.

43:32  Glorify the Lord as much as ever you can, for he will yet far exceed, and his magnificence is wonderful.

43:32  Ještě je mnoho tajemství a větších než tato, vždyť z jeho díla jsme zahlédli jen málo.

43:32  Glorificantes Dominum quantumcumque potueritis, supervalebit enim adhuc : et admirabilis magnificentia ejus.

43:33  Blessing the Lord, exalt him as much as you can; for he is above all praise.

43:33  Hospodin stvořil všechno a zbožným daroval moudrost.

43:33  Benedicentes Dominum, exaltate illum quantum potestis : major enim est omni laude.

43:34  When you exalt him put forth all your strength, and be not weary: for you can never go far enough.

43:34  Exaltantes eum, replemini virtute, ne laboretis, non enim comprehendetis.

43:35  Who shall see him, and declare him? and who shall magnify him as he is from the beginning?

43:35  Quis videbit eum et enarrabit ? et quis magnificabit eum sicut est ab initio ?

43:36  There are many things hidden from us that are greater than these: for we have seen but a few of his works.

43:36  Multa abscondita sunt majora his : pauca enim vidimus operum ejus.

43:37  But the Lord hath made all things, and to the godly he hath given wisdom.

43:37  Omnia autem Dominus fecit, et pie agentibus dedit sapientiam.
