JOHN
Chapter 10
John | Murdock | 10:1 | Verily, verily, I say to you, That he who doth not enter by the door into the fold of the flock, but climbeth up in some other place, he is a thief and a robber.
John | Murdock | 10:3 | And to him the door-keeper openeth the door; and the sheep hear his voice. And he calleth the sheep by their names, and leadeth them out.
John | Murdock | 10:4 | And when he hath led out his flock, he goeth before it; and his sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
John | Murdock | 10:5 | But after a stranger the flock will not follow, but it fleeth from him; because it knoweth not the voice of a stranger.
John | Murdock | 10:7 | And Jesus said to them again: Verily, verily, I say to you, That I am the door of the flock.
John | Murdock | 10:8 | All those who have come, were thieves and robbers: but the flock did not hear them.
John | Murdock | 10:9 | I am the door: and if any enter by me, he will live, and will come in and go out, and will find pasture.
John | Murdock | 10:10 | The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy. I have come, that they may have life, and may have that which is excellent.
John | Murdock | 10:12 | But a hireling, who is not the shepherd, and to whom the sheep do not belong, when he seeth the wolf coming, leaveth the flock, and fleeth; and the wolf cometh, and teareth, and disperseth the flock.
John | Murdock | 10:13 | And a hireling fleeth, because he is a hireling, and hath no concern for the flock.
John | Murdock | 10:15 | As my Father knoweth me, so know I my Father; and I expose my life for the flock.
John | Murdock | 10:16 | And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold: and them also I must bring; and they will hear my voice; and the whole will be one flock, and one shepherd.
John | Murdock | 10:18 | There is no one that taketh it from me; but I lay it down of my own pleasure: for I have authority to lay it down, and authority to resume it again; because I have received this command from my Father.
John | Murdock | 10:20 | And many of them said: He hath a demon, and is wholly beside himself; why hear ye him?
John | Murdock | 10:21 | But others said: These are not the discourses of a demoniac: can a demon open the eyes of one blind?
John | Murdock | 10:24 | And the Jews gathered around him; and said to him: how long holdest thou our mind in suspense? If thou art the Messiah, tell us plainly.
John | Murdock | 10:25 | Jesus answered, and said to them: I have told you, and ye did not believe. The works which I do in the name of my Father, they testify of me
John | Murdock | 10:28 | And I give to them life eternal: and they will never be lost: nor will any one pluck them from my hand.
John | Murdock | 10:29 |
For my Father, who gave | |
John | Murdock | 10:32 | Jesus said to them: Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
John | Murdock | 10:33 | The Jews said to him: It is not on account of good works, that we stone thee: but because thou blasphemest; and, whilst thou art a man, thou makest thyself God.
John | Murdock | 10:35 | If he called them gods, because the word of God was with them, and the scripture cannot be nullified;
John | Murdock | 10:36 | do ye say to him, whom the Father, hath sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said to you, I am the Son of God?
John | Murdock | 10:38 |
But if I do | |
John | Murdock | 10:40 | and retired to the other side of the Jordan, to the place where John at first baptized, and tarried there.
John | Murdock | 10:41 | And many persons came to him: and they said, John indeed wrought not even one sign; but every thing that John said of his man, was true.
