Chapter 26
Levi DRC 26:1  I am the Lord your God. You shall not make to yourselves any idol or graven thing: neither shall you erect pillars, nor set up a remarkable stone in your land, to adore it. For I am the Lord your God.
Levi KJV 26:1  Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God.
Levi DRC 26:2  Keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary. I am the Lord.
Levi KJV 26:2  Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord.
Ego Dominus.
Levi DRC 26:3  If you walk in my precepts, and keep my commandments, and do them, I will give you rain in due seasons.
Levi KJV 26:3  If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;
Levi VulgClem 26:3  Si in præceptis meis ambulaveritis, et mandata mea custodieritis, et feceritis ea, dabo vobis pluvias temporibus suis,
Levi DRC 26:4  And the ground shall bring forth its increase: and the trees shall be filled with fruit.
Levi KJV 26:4  Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
Levi VulgClem 26:4  et terra gignet germen suum, et pomis arbores replebuntur.
Levi DRC 26:5  The threshing of your harvest shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and you shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land without fear.
Levi KJV 26:5  And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.
Levi VulgClem 26:5  Apprehendet messium tritura vindemiam, et vindemia occupabit sementem : et comedetis panem vestrum in saturitate, et absque pavore habitabitis in terra vestra.
Levi DRC 26:6  I will give peace in your coasts: you shall sleep, and there shall be none to make you afraid. I will take away evil beasts: and the sword shall not pass through your quarters.
Levi KJV 26:6  And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
Levi DRC 26:7  You shall pursue your enemies: and they shall fall before you.
Levi KJV 26:7  And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.
Levi VulgClem 26:7  Persequemini inimicos vestros, et corruent coram vobis.
Levi DRC 26:8  Five of yours shall pursue a hundred others: and a hundred of you ten thousand. Your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
Levi KJV 26:8  And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
Levi VulgClem 26:8  Persequentur quinque de vestris centum alienos, et centum de vobis decem millia : cadent inimici vestri gladio in conspectu vestro.
Levi DRC 26:9  I will look on you, and make you increase: you shall be multiplied, and I will establish my covenant with you.
Levi KJV 26:9  For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.
Levi VulgClem 26:9  Respiciam vos, et crescere faciam : multiplicabimini, et firmabo pactum meum vobiscum.
Levi DRC 26:10  You shall eat the oldest of the old store: and, new coming on, you shall cast away the old.
Levi KJV 26:10  And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.
Levi VulgClem 26:10  Comedetis vetustissima veterum, et vetera novis supervenientibus projicietis.
Levi DRC 26:11  I will set my tabernacle in the midst of you: and my soul shall not cast you off.
Levi KJV 26:11  And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.
Levi VulgClem 26:11  Ponam tabernaculum meum in medio vestri, et non abjiciet vos anima mea.
Levi DRC 26:12  I will walk among you, and will be your God: and you shall be my people.
Levi KJV 26:12  And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
Levi DRC 26:13  I am the Lord your God: who have brought you out of the land of the Egyptians, that you should not serve them: and who have broken the chains of your necks, that you might go upright.
Levi KJV 26:13  I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.
Levi DRC 26:14  But if you will not hear me, nor do all my commandments:
Levi KJV 26:14  But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;
Levi DRC 26:15  If you despise my laws, and contemn my judgments so as not to do those things which are appointed by me, and to make void my covenant:
Levi KJV 26:15  And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:
Levi VulgClem 26:15  si spreveritis leges meas, et judicia mea contempseritis, ut non faciatis ea quæ a me constituta sunt, et ad irritum perducatis pactum meum :
Levi DRC 26:16  I also will do these things to you. I will quickly visit you with poverty, and burning heat, which shall waste your eyes, and consume your lives. You shall sow your seed in vain, which shall be devoured by your enemies.
Levi KJV 26:16  I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
Levi VulgClem 26:16  ego quoque hæc faciam vobis : visitabo vos velociter in egestate, et ardore, qui conficiat oculos vestros, et consumat animas vestras. Frustra seretis sementem, quæ ab hostibus devorabitur.
Levi DRC 26:17  I will set my face against you, and you shall fall down before your enemies: and shall be made subject to them that hate you. You shall flee when no man pursueth you.
Levi KJV 26:17  And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.
Levi VulgClem 26:17  Ponam faciem meam contra vos, et corruetis coram hostibus vestris, et subjiciemini his qui oderunt vos : fugietis, nemine persequente.
Levi DRC 26:18  But if you will not yet for all this obey me: I will chastise you seven times more for your sins.
Levi KJV 26:18  And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
Levi VulgClem 26:18  Sin autem nec sic obedieritis mihi, addam correptiones vestras septuplum propter peccata vestra,
Levi DRC 26:19  And I will break the pride of your stubbornness: and I will make to you the heaven above as iron, and the earth as brass.
Levi KJV 26:19  And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:
Levi VulgClem 26:19  et conteram superbiam duritiæ vestræ. Daboque vobis cælum desuper sicut ferrum, et terram æneam.
Levi DRC 26:20  Your labour shall be spent in vain: the ground shall not bring forth her increase: nor the trees yield their fruit.
Levi KJV 26:20  And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.
Levi VulgClem 26:20  Consumetur incassum labor vester, non proferet terra germen, nec arbores poma præbebunt.
Levi DRC 26:21  If you walk contrary to me, and will not hearken to me, I will bring seven times more plagues upon you for your sins.
Levi KJV 26:21  And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.
Levi VulgClem 26:21  Si ambulaveritis ex adverso mihi, nec volueritis audire me, addam plagas vestras in septuplum propter peccata vestra :
Levi DRC 26:22  And I will send in upon you the beasts of the field, to destroy you and your cattle, and make you few in number: and that your highways may be desolate.
Levi KJV 26:22  I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate.
Levi VulgClem 26:22  immittamque in vos bestias agri, quæ consumant vos, et pecora vestra, et ad paucitatem cuncta redigant, desertæque fiant viæ vestræ.
Levi DRC 26:23  And if even so you will not amend, but will walk contrary to me:
Levi KJV 26:23  And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;
Levi DRC 26:24  I also will walk contrary to you, and will strike you seven times for your sins.
Levi KJV 26:24  Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.
Levi VulgClem 26:24  ego quoque contra vos adversus incedam, et percutiam vos septies propter peccata vestra,
Levi DRC 26:25  And I will bring in upon you the sword that shall avenge my covenant. And when you shall flee into the cities, I will send the pestilence in the midst of you. And you shall be delivered into the hands of your enemies,
Levi KJV 26:25  And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
Levi VulgClem 26:25  inducamque super vos gladium ultorem fœderis mei. Cumque confugeritis in urbes, mittam pestilentiam in medio vestri, et trademini in manibus hostium,
Levi DRC 26:26  After I shall have broken the staff of your bread: so that ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and give it out by weight: and you shall eat, and shall not be filled,
Levi KJV 26:26  And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.
Levi DRC 26:27  But if you will not for all this hearken to me, but will walk against me
Levi KJV 26:27  And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
Levi VulgClem 26:27  Sin autem nec per hæc audieritis me, sed ambulaveritis contra me :
Levi DRC 26:28  I will also go against you with opposite fury: and I will chastise you with seven plagues for your sins,
Levi KJV 26:28  Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
Levi VulgClem 26:28  et ego incedam adversus vos in furore contrario, et corripiam vos septem plagis propter peccata vestra :
Levi DRC 26:29  So that you shall eat the flesh of your sons and of your daughters.
Levi KJV 26:29  And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.
Levi DRC 26:30  I will destroy your high places, and break your idols. You shall fall among the ruins of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.
Levi KJV 26:30  And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.
Levi DRC 26:31  Insomuch that I will bring your cities to be a wilderness: and I will make your sanctuaries desolate: and will receive no more your sweet odours.
Levi KJV 26:31  And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.
Levi DRC 26:32  And I will destroy your land: and your enemies shall be astonished at it, when they shall be the inhabitants thereof.
Levi KJV 26:32  And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.
Levi VulgClem 26:32  Disperdamque terram vestram, et stupebunt super ea inimici vestri, cum habitatores illius fuerint.
Levi DRC 26:33  And I will scatter you among the Gentiles: and I will draw out the sword after you. And your land shall be desert, and your cities destroyed.
Levi KJV 26:33  And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.
Levi DRC 26:34  Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths all the days of her desolation. When you shall be
Levi KJV 26:34  Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths.
Levi DRC 26:35  In the enemy's land, she shall keep a sabbath, and rest in the sabbaths of her desolation: because she did not rest in your sabbaths, when you dwelt therein.
Levi KJV 26:35  As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.
Levi VulgClem 26:35  in terra hostili, sabbatizabit, et requiescet in sabbatis solitudinis suæ, eo quod non requieverit in sabbatis vestris quando habitabatis in ea.
Levi DRC 26:36  And as to them that shall remain of you I will send fear in their hearts in the countries of their enemies. The sound of a flying leaf shall terrify them: and they shall flee as it were from the sword. They shall fall, when no man pursueth them.
Levi KJV 26:36  And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.
Levi VulgClem 26:36  Et qui de vobis remanserint, dabo pavorem in cordibus eorum in regionibus hostium, terrebit eos sonitus folii volantis, et ita fugient quasi gladium : cadent, nullo persequente,
Levi DRC 26:37  And they shall every one fall upon their brethren as fleeing from wars: none of you shall dare to resist your enemies.
Levi KJV 26:37  And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
Levi VulgClem 26:37  et corruent singuli super fratres suos, quasi bella fugientes, nemo vestrum inimicis audebit resistere.
Levi DRC 26:38  You shall perish among the Gentiles: and an enemy's land shall consume you.
Levi KJV 26:38  And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.
Levi DRC 26:39  And if of them also some remain, they shall pine away in their iniquities, in the land of their enemies: and they shall be afflicted for the sins of their fathers, and their own.
Levi KJV 26:39  And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.
Levi DRC 26:40  Until they confess their iniquities, and the iniquities of their ancestors, whereby they have transgressed against me, and walked contrary unto me.
Levi KJV 26:40  If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me;
Levi DRC 26:41  Therefore I also will walk against them, and bring them into their enemies' land until their uncircumcised mind be ashamed. Then shall they pray for their sins.
Levi KJV 26:41  And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
Levi VulgClem 26:41  Ambulabo igitur et ego contra eos, et inducam illos in terram hostilem, donec erubescat incircumcisa mens eorum : tunc orabunt pro impietatibus suis.
Levi DRC 26:42  And I will remember my covenant, that I made with Jacob, and Isaac, and Abraham. I will remember also the land:
Levi KJV 26:42  Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
Levi DRC 26:43  Which when she shall be left by them, shall enjoy her sabbaths, being desolate for them. But they shall pray for their sins, because they rejected my judgments, and despised my laws.
Levi KJV 26:43  The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.
Levi DRC 26:44  And yet for all that when they were in the land of their enemies, I did not cast them off altogether. Neither did I so despise them that they should be quite consumed: and I should make void my covenant with them. For I am the Lord their God.
Levi KJV 26:44  And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the Lord their God.
Levi DRC 26:45  And I will remember my former covenant, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt, in the sight of the Gentiles, to be their God. I am the Lord. These are the judgments, and precepts, and laws, which the Lord gave between him and the children of Israel, in mount Sinai, by the hand of Moses.
Levi KJV 26:45  But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the Lord.
Levi DRC 26:46
Levi KJV 26:46  These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the Lord made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.
Levi VulgClem 26:46
