Zeph DRC 1:3  I will gather man, and beast, I will gather the birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea: and the ungodly shall meet with ruin: and I will destroy men from off the face of the land, saith the Lord.

Zeph KJV 1:3  I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord.
Zeph DRC 1:4  And I will stretch out my hand upon Juda, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and I will destroy out of this place the remnant of Baal, and the names of the wardens of the temples with the priests:
Zeph VulgClem 1:4  Et extendam manum meam super Judam et super omnes habitantes Jerusalem : et disperdam de loco hoc reliquias Baal, et nomina ædituorum cum sacerdotibus ;
Zeph KJV 1:4  I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;
Zeph DRC 1:5  And them that worship the host of heaven upon the tops of houses, and them that adore, and swear by the Lord, and swear by Melchom.
Zeph VulgClem 1:5  et eos qui adorant super tecta militiam cæli, et adorant et jurant in Domino, et jurant in Melchom ;
Zeph KJV 1:5  And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the Lord, and that swear by Malcham;
Zeph DRC 1:6  And them that turn away from following after the Lord, and that have not sought the Lord, nor searched after him.
Zeph KJV 1:6  And them that are turned back from the Lord; and those that have not sought the Lord, nor enquired for him.
Zeph DRC 1:7  Be silent before the face of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is near, for the Lord hath prepared a victim, he hath sanctified his guests.
Zeph VulgClem 1:7  Silete a facie Domini Dei, quia juxta est dies Domini : quia præparavit Dominus hostiam ; sanctificavit vocatos suos.
Zeph KJV 1:7  Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord God: for the day of the Lord is at hand: for the Lord hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.
Zeph DRC 1:8  And it shall come to pass in the day of the victim of the Lord, that I will visit upon the princes, and upon the king's sons, and upon all such as are clothed with strange apparel:
Zeph VulgClem 1:8  Et erit : in die hostiæ Domini, visitabo super principes, et super filios regis, et super omnes qui induti sunt veste peregrina ;
Zeph KJV 1:8  And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.
Zeph DRC 1:9  And I will visit in that day upon every one that entereth arrogantly over the threshold: them that fill the house of the Lord their God with iniquity and deceit.
Zeph KJV 1:9  In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.
Zeph DRC 1:10  And there shall be in that day, saith the Lord, the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and a howling from the Second, and a great destruction from the hills.
Zeph VulgClem 1:10  Et erit in die illa, dicit Dominus, vox clamoris a porta piscium, et ululatus a Secunda, et contritio magna a collibus.
Zeph KJV 1:10  And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.
Zeph DRC 1:11  Howl, ye inhabitants of the Morter. All the people of Chanaan is hush, all are cut off that were wrapped up in silver.
Zeph VulgClem 1:11  Ululate, habitatores Pilæ : conticuit omnis populus Chanaan, disperierunt omnes involuti argento.
Zeph KJV 1:11  Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.
Zeph DRC 1:12  And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and will visit upon the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their hearts: The Lord will not do good, nor will he do evil.
Zeph VulgClem 1:12  Et erit in tempore illo : scrutabor Jerusalem in lucernis, et visitabo super viros defixos in fæcibus suis, qui dicunt in cordibus suis : Non faciet bene Dominus, et non faciet male.
Zeph KJV 1:12  And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, The Lord will not do good, neither will he do evil.
Zeph DRC 1:13  And their strength shall become a booty, and their houses as a desert: and they shall build houses, and shall not dwell in them: and they shall plant vineyards, and shall not drink the wine of them.
Zeph KJV 1:13  Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.
Zeph DRC 1:14  The great day of the Lord is near, it is near and exceeding swift: the voice of the day of the Lord is bitter, the mighty man shall there meet with tribulation.
Vox diei Domini amara : tribulabitur ibi fortis.
Zeph KJV 1:14  The great day of the Lord is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the Lord: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
Zeph DRC 1:15  That day is a day of wrath, a day of tribulation and distress, a day of calamity and misery, a day of darkness and obscurity, a day of clouds and whirlwinds,
Zeph VulgClem 1:15  Dies iræ dies illa, dies tribulationis et angustiæ, dies calamitatis et miseriæ, dies tenebrarum et caliginis, dies nebulæ et turbinis,
Zeph KJV 1:15  That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
Zeph DRC 1:16  A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high bulwarks.
Zeph VulgClem 1:16  dies tubæ et clangoris super civitates munitas, et super angulos excelsos.
Zeph KJV 1:16  A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
Zeph DRC 1:17  And I will distress men, and they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as earth, and their bodies as dung.
Zeph KJV 1:17  And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
Zeph DRC 1:18  Neither shall their silver and their gold be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: all the land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy destruction of all them that dwell in the land.
Zeph VulgClem 1:18  Sed et argentum eorum et aurum eorum non poterit liberare eos in die iræ Domini : in igne zeli ejus devorabitur omnis terra, quia consummationem cum festinatione faciet cunctis habitantibus terram.
Zeph KJV 1:18  Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.
Chapter 2
Zeph DRC 2:1  Assemble yourselves together, be gathered together, O nation not worthy to be loved:
Zeph VulgClem 2:1  Convenite, congregamini, gens non amabilis,
Zeph KJV 2:1  Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;
Zeph DRC 2:2  Before the decree bring forth the day as dust passing away, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord's indignation come upon you.
Zeph VulgClem 2:2  priusquam pariat jussio quasi pulverem transeuntem diem, antequam veniat super vos ira furoris Domini, antequam veniat super vos dies indignationis Domini.
Zeph KJV 2:2  Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord’s anger come upon you.
Zeph DRC 2:3  Seek the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, you that have wrought his judgment: seek the just, seek the meek: if by any means you may be hid in the day of the Lord's indignation.
Zeph VulgClem 2:3  Quærite Dominum, omnes mansueti terræ, qui judicium ejus estis operati ; quærite justum, quærite mansuetum, si quomodo abscondamini in die furoris Domini.
Zeph KJV 2:3  Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.
Zeph DRC 2:4  For Gaza shall be destroyed, and Ascalon shall be a desert, they shall cast out Azotus at noonday, and Accaron shall be rooted up.
Zeph VulgClem 2:4  Quia Gaza destructa erit, et Ascalon in desertum : Azotum in meridie ejicient, et Accaron eradicabitur.
Zeph KJV 2:4  For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.
Zeph DRC 2:5  Woe to you that inhabit the sea coast, O nation of reprobates: the word of the Lord upon you, O Chanaan, the land of the Philistines, and I will destroy thee, so that there shall not be an inhabitant.
Zeph KJV 2:5  Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the Lord is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
Zeph DRC 2:6  And the sea coast shall be the resting place of shepherds, and folds for cattle:
Zeph VulgClem 2:6  Et erit funiculus maris requies pastorum, et caulæ pecorum ;
Zeph KJV 2:6  And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
Zeph DRC 2:7  And it shall be the portion of him that shall remain of the house of Juda, there they shall feed: in the houses of Ascalon they shall rest in the evening: because the Lord their God will visit them, and bring back their captivity.
Zeph KJV 2:7  And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the Lord their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.
Zeph DRC 2:8  I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the blasphemies of the children of Ammon, with which they reproached my people, and have magnified themselves upon their borders.
Zeph KJV 2:8  I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.
Zeph DRC 2:9  Therefore as I live, saith the Lord of hosts the God of Israel, Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrha, the dryness of thorns, and heaps of salt, and a desert even for ever: the remnant of my people shall make a spoil of them, and the residue of my nation shall possess them.
Zeph VulgClem 2:9  Propterea vivo ego, dicit Dominus exercituum, Deus Israël, quia Moab ut Sodoma erit, et filii Ammon quasi Gomorrha : siccitas spinarum, et acervi salis, et desertum usque in æternum : reliquiæ populi mei diripient eos, et residui gentis meæ possidebunt illos.
Zeph KJV 2:9  Therefore as I live, saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
Zeph DRC 2:10  This shall befall them for their pride: because they have blasphemed, and have been magnified against the people of the Lord of hosts.
Zeph KJV 2:10  This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the Lord of hosts.
Zeph DRC 2:11  The Lord shall be terrible upon them, and shall consume all the gods of the earth: and they shall adore him every man from his own place, all the islands of the Gentiles.
Zeph VulgClem 2:11  Horribilis Dominus super eos, et attenuabit omnes deos terræ : et adorabunt eum viri de loco suo, omnes insulæ gentium.
Zeph KJV 2:11  The Lord will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.
Zeph DRC 2:12  You Ethiopians, also shall be slain with my sword.
Zeph VulgClem 2:12  Sed et vos, Æthiopes, interfecti gladio meo eritis.
Zeph KJV 2:12  Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.
Zeph DRC 2:13  And he will stretch out his hand upon the north, and will destroy Assyria: and he will make the beautiful city a wilderness, and as a place not passable, and as a desert.
Zeph VulgClem 2:13  Et extendet manum suam super aquilonem, et perdet Assur, et ponet speciosam in solitudinem, et in invium, et quasi desertum.
Zeph KJV 2:13  And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.
Zeph DRC 2:14  And flocks shall lie down in the midst thereof, all the beasts of the nations: and the bittern and the urchin shall lodge in the threshold thereof: the voice of the singing bird in the window, the raven on the upper post, for I will consume her strength.
Zeph VulgClem 2:14  Et accubabunt in medio ejus greges, omnes bestiæ gentium ; et onocrotalus et ericius in liminibus ejus morabuntur : vox cantantis in fenestra, corvus in superliminari, quoniam attenuabo robur ejus.
Zeph KJV 2:14  And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.
Zeph DRC 2:15  This is the glorious city that dwelt in security: that said in her heart: I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desert, a place for beasts to lie down in? every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
Zeph KJV 2:15  This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
Chapter 3
Zeph DRC 3:1  Woe to the provoking and redeemed city, the dove.
Zeph VulgClem 3:1  Væ provocatrix, et redempta civitas, columba !
Zeph KJV 3:1  Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!
Zeph DRC 3:2  She hath not hearkened to the voice, neither hath she received discipline: she hath not trusted in the Lord, she drew not near to her God.
Zeph KJV 3:2  She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the Lord; she drew not near to her God.
Zeph DRC 3:3  Her princes are in the midst of her as roaring lions: her judges are evening wolves, they left nothing for the morning.
Zeph VulgClem 3:3  Principes ejus in medio ejus quasi leones rugientes ; judices ejus lupi vespere, non relinquebant in mane.
Zeph KJV 3:3  Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.
Zeph DRC 3:4  Her prophets are senseless, men without faith: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have acted unjustly against the law.
Zeph VulgClem 3:4  Prophetæ ejus vesani, viri infideles ; sacerdotes ejus polluerunt sanctum, injuste egerunt contra legem.
Zeph KJV 3:4  Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.
Zeph DRC 3:5  The just Lord is in the midst thereof, he will not do iniquity: in the morning, in the morning he will bring his judgment to light, and it shall not be hid: but the wicked man hath not known shame.
Zeph KJV 3:5  The just Lord is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.
Zeph DRC 3:6  I have destroyed the nations, and their towers are beaten down: I have made their ways desert, so that there is none that passeth by: their cities are desolate, there is not a man remaining, nor any inhabitant.
Zeph KJV 3:6  I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
Zeph DRC 3:7  I said: Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive correction: and her dwelling shall not perish, for all things wherein I have visited her: but they rose early, and corrupted all their thoughts.
Zeph VulgClem 3:7  Dixi : Attamen timebis me, suscipies disciplinam ; et non peribit habitaculum ejus, propter omnia in quibus visitavi eam : verumtamen diluculo surgentes corruperunt omnes cogitationes suas.
Zeph KJV 3:7  I said, Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.
Zeph DRC 3:8  Wherefore expect me, saith the Lord, in the day of my resurrection that is to come, for my judgment is to assemble the Gentiles, and to gather the kingdoms: and to pour upon them my indignation, all my fierce anger: for with the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be devoured.
Zeph VulgClem 3:8  Quapropter exspecta me, dicit Dominus, in die resurrectionis meæ in futurum : quia judicium meum ut congregem gentes, et colligam regna, et effundam super eos indignationem meam, omnem iram furoris mei : in igne enim zeli mei devorabitur omnis terra.
Zeph KJV 3:8  Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.
Zeph DRC 3:9  Because then I will restore to the people a chosen lip, that all may call upon the name of the Lord, and may serve him with one shoulder.
Zeph VulgClem 3:9  Quia tunc reddam populis labium electum, ut invocent omnes in nomine Domini, et serviant ei humero uno.
Zeph KJV 3:9  For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent.
Zeph DRC 3:10  From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, shall my suppliants, the children of my dispersed people, bring me an offering.
Zeph VulgClem 3:10  Ultra flumina Æthiopiæ, inde supplices mei ; filii dispersorum meorum deferent munus mihi.
Zeph KJV 3:10  From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.
Zeph DRC 3:11  In that day thou shalt not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me for then I will take away out of the midst of thee thy proud boasters, and thou shalt no more be lifted up because of my holy mountain.
Zeph VulgClem 3:11  In die illa non confunderis super cunctis adinventionibus tuis, quibus prævaricata es in me, quia tunc auferam de medio tui magniloquos superbiæ tuæ, et non adjicies exaltari amplius in monte sancto meo.
Zeph KJV 3:11  In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.
Zeph DRC 3:12  And I will leave in the midst of thee a poor and needy people: and they shall hope in the name of the Lord.
Zeph VulgClem 3:12  Et derelinquam in medio tui populum pauperem et egenum : et sperabunt in nomine Domini.
Zeph KJV 3:12  I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the Lord.
Zeph DRC 3:13  The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies, nor shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed, and shall lie down, and there shall be none to make them afraid.
Zeph KJV 3:13  The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
Zeph DRC 3:14  Give praise, O daughter of Sion: shout, O Israel: be glad, and rejoice with all thy heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.
Zeph VulgClem 3:14  Lauda, filia Sion ; jubila, Israël : lætare, et exsulta in omni corde, filia Jerusalem.
Zeph KJV 3:14  Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.
Zeph DRC 3:15  The Lord hath taken away thy judgment, he hath turned away thy enemies: the king of Israel, the Lord, is in the midst of thee, thou shalt fear evil no more.
Zeph VulgClem 3:15  Abstulit Dominus judicium tuum ; avertit inimicos tuos. Rex Israël Dominus in medio tui : non timebis malum ultra.
Zeph KJV 3:15  The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.
Zeph DRC 3:16  In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: Fear not: to Sion: Let not thy hands be weakened.
Zeph VulgClem 3:16  In die illa dicetur Jerusalem : Noli timere ; Sion : Non dissolvantur manus tuæ.
Zeph KJV 3:16  In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.
Zeph DRC 3:17  The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty, he will save: he will rejoice over thee with gladness, he will be silent in his love, he will be joyful over thee in praise.
Zeph VulgClem 3:17  Dominus Deus tuus in medio tui fortis, ipse salvabit : gaudebit super te in lætitia, silebit in dilectione sua, exsultabit super te in laude.
Zeph KJV 3:17  The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
Zeph DRC 3:18  The triflers that were departed from the law, I will gather together, because they were of thee: that thou mayest no more suffer reproach for them.
Zeph KJV 3:18  I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.
Zeph DRC 3:19  Behold I will cut off all that have afflicted thee at that time: and I will save her that halteth, and will gather her that was cast out: and I will get them praise, and a name, in all the land where they had been put to confusion.
Zeph VulgClem 3:19  Ecce ego interficiam omnes qui afflixerunt te in tempore illo : et salvabo claudicantem, et eam quæ ejecta fuerat congregabo : et ponam eos in laudem, et in nomen, in omni terra confusionis eorum,
Zeph KJV 3:19  Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.
Zeph DRC 3:20  At that time, when I will bring you: and at the time that I will gather you: for I will give you a name, and praise among all the people of the earth, when I shall have brought back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord.
Zeph KJV 3:20  At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord.
