Chapter 9
Mark Worsley 9:1  And He said unto them, Verily I tell you, that there are some of those who stand here, that shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Mark Worsley 9:2  And after six days Jesus taketh with Him Peter, and James, and John, and bringeth them up by themselves to a high mountain apart; and was transfigured before them:
Mark Worsley 9:3  and his raiment shone, being exceeding white as snow, so as no fuller on earth can whiten.
Mark Worsley 9:4  And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
Mark Worsley 9:5  Then said Peter to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: let us make three tabernacles; one for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias:
Mark Worsley 9:6  for he knew not what to say, for they were sore afraid.
Mark Worsley 9:7  And there was a cloud overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him.
Mark Worsley 9:8  And immediately looking round about, they saw no more of any one, but Jesus alone with them.
Mark Worsley 9:9  And as they came down from the mountain, He charged them to tell no one what they had seen, till after the Son of man were risen from the dead.
Mark Worsley 9:10  And they laid hold on that expression, querying among themselves, what means the rising from the dead?
Mark Worsley 9:11  Then they asked Him, saying, Why do the scribes say, that Elias must come first?
Mark Worsley 9:12  And He answered and told them, Elias doth indeed come first, and settle all things: He told them likewise how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things and be used contemptuously.
Mark Worsley 9:13  But I tell you, that Elias is come, and they have done to him whatever they would, as it is written of him.
Mark Worsley 9:14  And when He came to the other disciples, He saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes disputing with them.
Mark Worsley 9:15  And immediately all the people, when they saw Him, were astonished; and running to Him, saluted Him.
Mark Worsley 9:16  And he asked the scribes, What are ye disputing about?
Mark Worsley 9:17  And one of the multitude answered, and said, Master I have brought unto thee my son, who is possessed by a dumb spirit:
Mark Worsley 9:18  and wherever it seizeth him, it convulseth him; and he fometh, and gnasheth his teeth, and thus he pineth away: and I desired thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.
Mark Worsley 9:19  And He answered and said, O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him to me.
Mark Worsley 9:20  And they brought him to Him: and as soon as he saw Him, immediately the spirit threw him into convulsions: and he fell upon the ground, and rolled about foming.
Mark Worsley 9:21  And He asked his father, How long is it since this befel him? And he said, From a child.
Mark Worsley 9:22  And it has often thrown him both into the fire and into the waters to destroy him. But if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us and help us.
Mark Worsley 9:23  And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Mark Worsley 9:24  And the father of the child immediately cried out and said with tears, Lord, I believe, help thou my unbelief.
Mark Worsley 9:25  when Jesus saw the people flock together, He rebuked the impure spirit, and said to him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, Come out of him, and enter no more into him.
Mark Worsley 9:26  And when he had rored and vehemently convulsed him, he came out of him: and the child was as one dead, so that many said, that he was dead.
Mark Worsley 9:27  But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
Mark Worsley 9:28  And when He was come into the house, his disciples asked Him in private, Why could not we cast him out?
Mark Worsley 9:29  And He said unto them, This kind cannot be cast out, but by prayer and fasting.
Mark Worsley 9:30  And they departed from thence and passed through Galilee, and He was not willing that any should know it;
Mark Worsley 9:31  for He was instructing his disciples, and told them, the Son of man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will put Him to death; and on the third day, after his being put to death, He will rise again.
Mark Worsley 9:32  But they knew not his meaning, and were afraid to ask Him.
Mark Worsley 9:33  And he came to Capernaum; and when He was in the house, He asked them, What were ye disputing about among yourselves by the way?
Mark Worsley 9:34  But they held their peace; for they had been disputing with each other by the way who should be the greatest.
Mark Worsley 9:35  So He sat down and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any one would be first, let him be last of all, and servant of all.
Mark Worsley 9:36  And He took a child and set him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms He said unto them,
Mark Worsley 9:37  Whoever shall receive one of these little children in my name, receiveth me; and whosoever receiveth me, receiveth not me only, but Him that sent me.
Mark Worsley 9:38  But John answered Him and said, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, who doth not follow us; and we forbade him, because he followeth not us.
Mark Worsley 9:39  But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no one, that worketh a miracle in my name, and can presently speak evil of me:
Mark Worsley 9:41  For whosoever shall give you but a cup of water to drink, for my sake; because ye are Christ's, I assure you, he shall not lose his reward.
Mark Worsley 9:42  And whosoever shall cause one of these little ones, that believe in me, to offend, it were better for him, if a milstone were laid upon his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
Mark Worsley 9:43  And if thy hand cause thee to offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands, to go into hell, into the fire that will never be extinguished;
Mark Worsley 9:44  where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mark Worsley 9:45  And if thy foot cause thee to offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life lame, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the inextinguishable fire;
Mark Worsley 9:46  where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mark Worsley 9:47  And if thine eye cause thee to offend, cast it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell-fire;
Mark Worsley 9:48  where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mark Worsley 9:49  For every one shall be as it were salted by fire, and every sacrifice shall be seasoned as with salt.
Mark Worsley 9:50  Salt is useful, but if the salt become insipid, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt therefore in yourselves, and as a proof of it be at peace one with another.
