Chapter 2
II P DRC 2:1  But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there shall be among you lying teachers who shall bring in sects of perdition and deny the Lord who bought them: bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
II P VulgClem 2:1  Fuerunt vero et pseudoprophetæ in populo, sicut et in vobis erunt magistri mendaces, qui introducent sectas perditionis : et eum qui emit eos, Dominum negant, superducentes sibi celerem perditionem.
II P KJV 2:1  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
II P DRC 2:2  And many shall follow their riotousness, through whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

II P DRC 2:3  And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you. Whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not: and their perdition slumbereth not.

II P DRC 2:4  For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but delivered them, drawn down by infernal ropes to the lower hell, unto torments, to be reserved unto judgment:
II P VulgClem 2:4  Si enim Deus angelis peccantibus non pepercit, sed rudentibus inferni detractos in tartarum tradidit cruciandos, in judicium reservari.
II P KJV 2:4  For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
II P DRC 2:5  And spared not the original world, but preserved Noe, the eighth person, the preacher of justice, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.

II P KJV 2:5  And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
II P DRC 2:6  And reducing the cities of the Sodomites and of the Gomorrhites into ashes, condemned them to be overthrown, making them an example to those that should after act wickedly,
II P VulgClem 2:6  Et civitates Sodomorum et Gomorrhæorum in cinerem redigens, eversione damnavit : exemplum eorum, qui impie acturi sunt, ponens :
II P KJV 2:6  And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
II P DRC 2:7  And delivered just Lot, oppressed by the injustice and lewd conversation of the wicked:

II P KJV 2:7  And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
II P DRC 2:8  For in sight and hearing he was just, dwelling among them who from day to day vexed the just soul with unjust works.

II P DRC 2:9  The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly from temptation, but to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be tormented:
II P VulgClem 2:9  Novit Dominus pios de tentatione eripere : iniquos vero in diem judicii reservare cruciandos.
II P KJV 2:9  The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
II P DRC 2:10  And especially them who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise government: audacious, self willed, they fear not to bring in sects, blaspheming.
II P VulgClem 2:10  Magis autem eos, qui post carnem in concupiscentia immunditiæ ambulant, dominationemque contemnunt, audaces, sibi placentes, sectas non metuunt introducere blasphemantes :
II P KJV 2:10  But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
II P DRC 2:11  Whereas angels, who are greater in strength and power, bring not against themselves a railing judgment.

II P DRC 2:12  But these men, as irrational beasts, naturally tending to the snare and to destruction, blaspheming those things which they know not, shall perish in their corruption:
II P VulgClem 2:12  Hi vero velut irrationabilia pecora, naturaliter in captionem, et in perniciem in his quæ ignorant blasphemantes in corruptione sua peribunt,
II P KJV 2:12  But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
II P DRC 2:13  Receiving the reward of their injustice, counting for a pleasure the delights of a day: stains and spots, sporting themselves to excess, rioting in their feasts with you:
II P VulgClem 2:13  percipientes mercedem injustitiæ, voluptatem existimantes diei delicias : coinquinationes, et maculæ deliciis affluentes, in conviviis suis luxuriantes vobiscum,
II P KJV 2:13  And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
II P DRC 2:14  Having eyes full of adultery and of sin that ceaseth not: alluring unstable souls: having their heart exercised with covetousness: children of malediction.
II P VulgClem 2:14  oculos habentes plenos adulterii, et incessabilis delicti. Pellicientes animas instabiles, cor exercitatum avaritia habentes, maledictionis filii :
II P KJV 2:14  Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
II P DRC 2:15  Leaving the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam of Bosor who loved the wages of iniquity,
II P VulgClem 2:15  derelinquentes rectam viam erraverunt, secuti viam Balaam ex Bosor, qui mercedem iniquitatis amavit :
II P KJV 2:15  Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
II P DRC 2:16  But had a check of his madness, the dumb beast used to the yoke, which, speaking with man's voice, forbade the folly of the prophet.
II P VulgClem 2:16  correptionem vero habuit suæ vesaniæ : subjugale mutum animal, hominis voce loquens, prohibuit prophetæ insipientiam.
II P KJV 2:16  But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
II P DRC 2:17  These are fountains without water and clouds tossed with whirlwinds, to whom the mist of darkness is reserved.
II P VulgClem 2:17  Hi sunt fontes sine aqua, et nebulæ turbinibus exagitatæ, quibus caligo tenebrarum reservatur.
II P KJV 2:17  These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
II P DRC 2:18  For, speaking proud words of vanity, they allure by the desires of fleshly riotousness those who for a little while escape, such as converse in error:
II P VulgClem 2:18  Superba enim vanitatis loquentes, pelliciunt in desideriis carnis luxuriæ eos, qui paululum effugiunt, qui in errore conversantur :
II P KJV 2:18  For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
II P DRC 2:19  Promising them liberty, whereas they themselves are the slaves of corruption. For by whom a man is overcome, of the same also he is the slave.
II P VulgClem 2:19  libertatem illis promittentes, cum ipsi servi sint corruptionem : a quo enim quis superatus est, hujus et servus est.
II P KJV 2:19  While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
II P DRC 2:20  For if, flying from the pollutions of the world, through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they be again entangled in them and overcome: their latter state is become unto them worse than the former.

Chapter 3
II P DRC 3:1  Behold this second epistle I write to you, my dearly beloved, in which, I stir up by way of admonition your sincere mind:
II P VulgClem 3:1  Hanc ecce vobis, carissimi, secundam scribo epistolam, in quibus vestram excito in commonitione sinceram mentem :
II P KJV 3:1  This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
II P DRC 3:2  That you may be mindful of those words which I told you before from the holy prophet and of your apostles, of the precepts of the Lord and Saviour.

II P KJV 3:4  And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
II P DRC 3:5  For this they are wilfully ignorant of: That the heavens were before, and the earth out of water and through water, consisting by the word of God:

II P KJV 3:8  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
II P DRC 3:9  The Lord delayeth not his promise, as some imagine, but dealeth patiently for your sake, not willing that any should perish, but that all should return to penance,
II P VulgClem 3:9  Non tardat Dominus promissionem suam, sicut quidam existimant : sed patienter agit propter vos, nolens aliquos perire, sed omnes ad pœnitentiam reverti.
II P KJV 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
II P DRC 3:10  But the day of the Lord shall come as a thief, in which the heavens shall pass away with great violence and the elements shall be melted with heat and the earth and the works which are in it shall be burnt up.
II P VulgClem 3:10  Adveniet autem dies Domini ut fur : in quo cæli magno impetu transient, elementa vero calore solventur, terra autem et quæ in ipsa sunt opera, exurentur.
II P KJV 3:10  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
II P DRC 3:11  Seeing then that all these things are to be dissolved, what manner of people ought you to be in holy conversation and godliness?
II P VulgClem 3:11  Cum igitur hæc omnia dissolvenda sunt, quales oportet vos esse in sanctis conversationibus, et pietatibus,
II P KJV 3:11  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
II P DRC 3:12  Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of the Lord, by which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with the burning heat?
II P VulgClem 3:12  exspectantes, et properantes in adventum diei Domini, per quem cæli ardentes solventur, et elementa ignis ardore tabescent ?
II P KJV 3:12  Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
II P DRC 3:13  But we look for new heavens and a new earth according to his promises, in which justice dwelleth.
II P VulgClem 3:13  Novos vero cælos, et novam terram secundum promissa ipsius exspectamus, in quibus justitia habitat.
II P KJV 3:13  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

II P KJV 3:15  And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
II P DRC 3:16  As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.

II P KJV 3:17  Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
II P DRC 3:18  But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and unto the day of eternity, Amen.
II P VulgClem 3:18  crescite vero in gratia, et in cognitione Domini nostri, et Salvatoris Jesu Christi. Ipsi gloria et nunc, et in diem æternitatis. Amen.
