Chapter 1
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:1 | Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect and the knowledge of the truth that is according to godliness;
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:2 | In the hope of eternal life, which God Who cannot lie promised before the ages of time,
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:3 | But revealed in its own set time in the proclamation of His Word, with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior;
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:4 | To Titus, a true son according to our common faith: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:5 | For this cause I left you in Crete, so that you might set in order the things that needed to be done, and might ordain elders in every city, as I commanded you:
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:6 | If any man be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of debauchery or rebellion.
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:7 | For it is obligatory that as God's steward an overseer be blameless, not selfwilled, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not a bully, not greedy for material gain;
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:9 | Holding steadfastly to the faithful word, according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, so that he may be able both to encourage with sound doctrine and to convict those who are gainsayers.
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:10 | For there are many rebellious and vain talkers and deceivers, especially those from the circumcision party,
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:11 | Whose mouths must be stopped; who are subverting whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of selfish gain.
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:12 | One from among them, even one of their own prophets, said, "Cretans are always liars, and evil, wild beasts, and lazy gluttons."
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:13 | This testimony is true. For this reason you must rebuke them severely, that they may be sound in the faith;
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:14 | Not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men, which turn away from the truth.
Titu | AFV2020 | 1:15 | To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; rather, both their minds and consciences are defiled.
Chapter 2
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:2 | Teach the older men to be temperate, serious-minded, respectable, sound in the faith, in love, and in patience;
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:3 | In like manner, teach the older women to be in their behavior as it is fitting for godly women, not slanderers, and not enslaved to much wine, but teachers of that which is right;
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:4 | That they may teach the young women to love their husbands and to love their children;
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:5 | To be modest, chaste, keepers of the home; to be good and to submit themselves to their own husbands, so that the Word of God may not be blasphemed.
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:7 | In all things you yourself set an example of good works; in doctrine uncorrupted, serious-minded, and sincere;
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:8 | Use sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that the one who opposes you may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say about you.
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:9 | Admonish slaves to submit themselves to their own masters, to be well pleasing in everything, not answering back;
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:10 | Not misappropriating anything, but showing all good faithfulness; so that they may do credit to the doctrine of our Savior God in everything.
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:12 | Teaching us that, having denied ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live moderately and righteously and godly in this present world,
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:13 | Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our Savior and great God, Jesus Christ;
Titu | AFV2020 | 2:14 | Who gave Himself for us, so that He might redeem us from all lawlessness, and might purify for Himself a unique people, zealous of good works.
Chapter 3
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:1 | Remind them to be subject to rulers, and to obey authorities, and to be ready for every good work;
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:2 | Not to speak evil of anyone, not to be contentious, but gentle, showing all meekness toward all men.
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:3 | For we also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving all kinds of lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:5 | Not by works of righteousness which we practiced, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:7 | So that, having been justified by His grace, we would become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:8 | This is a faithful saying, and I desire you to strongly affirm all these things, so that those who have believed God may apply themselves to doing good works. These things are good and profitable for men.
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:9 | But avoid foolish questions and genealogies, and debates and quarrels about law, for they are unprofitable and vain.
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:11 | Knowing that such a person has been subverted and is sinning, being condemned by his own words.
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:12 | When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, make haste to come to me at Nicopolis; for I have decided to spend the winter there.
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:13 | Be diligent to equip Zenas the lawyer and Apollos for their journey, so that they may lack nothing.
Titu | AFV2020 | 3:14 | And let our brethren also learn to devote themselves to good works for services that are needed, so that they may not be unfruitful.
