MATTHEW
Chapter 24
Matt | Murdock | 24:1 | And Jesus passed out of the temple to go away: and his disciples came to him, showing him the structure of the temple.
Matt | Murdock | 24:2 | And he said to them: See ye not all these? Verily I say to you, There will not be left here a stone upon a stone, that is not demolished.
Matt | Murdock | 24:3 | And as Jesus sat on the mount of Olives, his disciples came, and said between themselves and him: Tell us when these things are to be; and what will be the sign of thy coming, and of the consummation of the world.
Matt | Murdock | 24:5 | For many will come in my name, and will say, I am the Messiah: and they will deceive many.
Matt | Murdock | 24:6 | And ye are to hear of conflicts, and the rumor of battles. See that ye be not disquieted: for all these things must come; but the consummation is not yet.
Matt | Murdock | 24:7 | For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.
Matt | Murdock | 24:9 | And they will deliver you up to tribulation, and will kill you: and ye will be hated by all nations, on account of my name.
Matt | Murdock | 24:10 | Then many will be stumbled: and they will hate one another, and will betray one another.
Matt | Murdock | 24:14 | And this announcement of the kingdom shall be published in all the world, for a testimony to all nations: and then will come the consummation.
Matt | Murdock | 24:15 | And when ye see the abominable sign of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place; then let the reader consider;
Matt | Murdock | 24:21 | For there will then be great distress, such as hath not been from the commencement of the world, until now, and will not be.
Matt | Murdock | 24:22 | And unless those days should be cut short, no flesh would remain alive. But, for the elect's sake, those days will be cut short.
Matt | Murdock | 24:23 | Then, if any one shall say to you, Lo, the Messiah is here, or is there; give no credence.
Matt | Murdock | 24:24 | For there will arise false Messiahs, and mendacious prophets; who will exhibit great signs, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
Matt | Murdock | 24:26 | If therefore they say to you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not out: or, Behold, he is in a secret chamber; give no credence.
Matt | Murdock | 24:27 | As the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth unto the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man.
Matt | Murdock | 24:29 | And immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not show her light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be agitated.
Matt | Murdock | 24:30 | And then will be seen the signal of the Son of man in heaven: and then will all the tribes of the earth mourn, when they see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
Matt | Murdock | 24:31 | And he will send his angels with a great trumpet and they will collect together his elect from the four winds, from one extremity of heaven to the other.
Matt | Murdock | 24:32 | And learn ye an illustration from the fig-tree. As soon as its branches become tender and its leaves shoot forth, ye know that summer is coming on.
Matt | Murdock | 24:33 |
So also ye, when ye perceive all these things, know ye, that he is nigh,
Matt | Murdock | 24:34 | Verily I say to you, That this generation shall not pass away, till all these things shall be.
Matt | Murdock | 24:36 | But of that day and of that hour, knoweth no man, nor even the angels of heaven, but the Father only.
Matt | Murdock | 24:38 | For as, before the flood, they were eating and drinking, taking wives and giving to husbands, up to the day that Noah entered the ark,
Matt | Murdock | 24:39 | and knew not, until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of man be.
Matt | Murdock | 24:43 | But know this, that if the lord of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have been awake, and would not have suffered his house to be broken into.
Matt | Murdock | 24:44 | Therefore, be ye also ready; for at an hour ye do not expect, the Son of man will come.
Matt | Murdock | 24:45 | Who then, is that faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath placed over his domestics, to give them their food in its time?
Matt | Murdock | 24:48 | But if that servant, being wicked, shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Matt | Murdock | 24:49 | and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall be eating and drinking with drunkards;
Matt | Murdock | 24:50 | the lord of that servant will come in a day he will not expect, and in an hour he knoweth not,
