Chapter 15
Mark RKJNT 15:1  And immediately in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
Mark RKJNT 15:2  And Pilate asked him, Are you the King of the Jews? And he said to him, You say so.
Mark RKJNT 15:3  And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
Mark RKJNT 15:4  And Pilate asked him again, saying, Have you no answer to make? behold how many things they testify against you.
Mark RKJNT 15:5  But Jesus made no further answer; so that Pilate was amazed.
Mark RKJNT 15:6  Now at the feast he released to them one prisoner, whomever they requested.
Mark RKJNT 15:7  And there was one named Barabbas, who was in prison with his fellow rebels, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
Mark RKJNT 15:8  And the multitude approached and began asking him to do for them as he usually did.
Mark RKJNT 15:9  Pilate answered them, saying, Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?
Mark RKJNT 15:10  For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him out of envy.
Mark RKJNT 15:11  But the chief priests incited the people to have him release Barabbas to them.
Mark RKJNT 15:12  And Pilate answered and said again to them, What then shall I do with him whom you call the King of the Jews?
Mark RKJNT 15:14  Then Pilate said to them, Why, what evil has he done? And they cried out all the louder, Crucify him.
Mark RKJNT 15:15  And so Pilate, wanting to satisfy the people, released Barabbas to them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
Mark RKJNT 15:16  And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called the Praetorium; and they called together the whole band of soldiers.
Mark RKJNT 15:17  And they clothed him with purple, and weaved a crown of thorns, and put it on him,
Mark RKJNT 15:18  And began to acclaim him, Hail, King of the Jews!
Mark RKJNT 15:19  And they struck him on the head with a cane, and spat upon him, and bowed their knees in worship to him.
Mark RKJNT 15:20  And when they had mocked him, they took the purple off of him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
Mark RKJNT 15:21  And they compelled Simon, a Cyrenian who was passing by on his way in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
Mark RKJNT 15:22  And they brought him to the place called Golgotha, which means, The place of a skull.
Mark RKJNT 15:23  And they gave him wine to drink mingled with myrrh: but he would not take it.
Mark RKJNT 15:24  And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments, casting lots for them, to decide what each man should take.
Mark RKJNT 15:25  And it was the third hour when they crucified him.
Mark RKJNT 15:26  And the inscription of the accusation against him was written above him, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Mark RKJNT 15:27  And with him they crucified two thieves; one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
Mark RKJNT 15:28  [And the scripture was fulfilled, which says, And he was numbered with the transgressors.]
Mark RKJNT 15:29  And those who passed by kept abusing him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, you who would destroy the temple, and build it in three days,
Mark RKJNT 15:31  Likewise, the chief priests mocked him among themselves and with the scribes, He saved others; but he cannot save himself.
Mark RKJNT 15:32  Let Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And those who were crucified with him also reviled him.
Mark RKJNT 15:33  And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
Mark RKJNT 15:34  And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which means, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Mark RKJNT 15:35  And some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he is calling Elijah.
Mark RKJNT 15:36  And one ran and filled a sponge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink, saying, Wait; let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.
Mark RKJNT 15:37  And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed his last.
Mark RKJNT 15:38  And the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.
Mark RKJNT 15:39  And when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw how he breathed his last, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
Mark RKJNT 15:40  There were also women looking on from afar: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
Mark RKJNT 15:41  (Who, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered to him;) and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.
Mark RKJNT 15:42  And when the evening had come, because it was the preparation day, that is, the day before the sabbath,
Mark RKJNT 15:43  Joseph of Arimathaea, an honoured member of the council, who also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
Mark RKJNT 15:44  And Pilate wondered if he was dead so soon: and calling the centurion, he asked him if he was already dead.
Mark RKJNT 15:45  And when he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph.
Mark RKJNT 15:46  So he bought a fine linen cloth, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a tomb which was cut out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
Mark RKJNT 15:47  Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses watched where he was laid.
