7:1  In the hundred and fifty-first year, Demetrius, the son of Seleucus, departed from the city of Rome, and came up with few men into a city of the sea coast, and reigned there.

7:1  Roku 151 unikl Demetrios, syn Seleukův, z Říma, vylodil se s hrstkou mužů v přímořském městě, kde se nechal prohlásit králem.

7:1  Anno centesimo quinquagesimo primo, exiit Demetrius Seleuci filius ab urbe Roma, et ascendit cum paucis viris in civitatem maritimam, et regnavit illic.

7:2  And it came to pass as he entered into the house of the kingdom of his fathers, that the army seized upon Antiochus, and Lysias, to bring them unto him.

7:2  Zatímco vcházel do královského sídla svých otců, jeho vojáci zajali Antiocha a Lysia a chtěli je k němu přivést.

7:2  Et factum est, ut ingressus est domum regni patrum suorum, comprehendit exercitus Antiochum et Lysiam, ut adducerent eos ad eum.

7:3  And when he knew it, he said: Let me not see their face.

7:3  Když mu to ale oznámili, řekl: „Nechci je vidět!“

7:3  Et res ei innotuit, et ait : Nolite mihi ostendere faciem eorum.

7:4  So the army slew them. And Demetrius sat upon the throne of his kingdom:

7:4  Vojáci je tedy zabili a Demetrios nastoupil na svůj královský trůn.

7:4  Et occidit eos exercitus. Et sedit Demetrius super sedem regni sui.

7:5  And there came to him the wicked and ungodly men of Israel: and Alcimus was at the head of them, who desired to be made high priest.

7:5  Poté k němu přišli všichni bezbožníci a neznabozi z Izraele v čele s Alkimem, který chtěl být veleknězem,

7:5  Et venerunt ad eum viri iniqui et impii ex Israël : et Alcimus dux eorum, qui volebat fieri sacerdos.

7:6  And they accused the people to the king, saying: Judas and his brethren have destroyed all thy friends, and he hath driven us out of our land.

7:6  a vznesli před králem obvinění proti svému lidu: „Juda a jeho bratři pobili všechny tvé věrné a nás vyhnali z naší země.

7:6  Et accusaverunt populum apud regem, dicentes : Perdidit Judas et fratres ejus omnes amicos tuos, et nos dispersit de terra nostra.

7:7  Now, therefore, send some men whom thou trustest, and let him go, and see all the havoc he hath made amongst us, and in the king's lands: and let him punish all his friends and their helpers.

7:7  Nuže, pošli nějakého spolehlivého muže, ať vidí všechnu tu zkázu, kterou způsobili nám a králově zemi, a ať je potrestá i se všemi jejich přisluhovači!“

7:7  Nunc ergo mitte virum, cui credis, ut eat, et videat exterminium omne quod fecit nobis, et regionibus regis : et puniat omnes amicos ejus, et adjutores eorum.

7:8  Then the king chose Bacchides, one of his friends, that ruled beyond the great river in the kingdom, and was faithful to the king: and he sent him,

7:8  Král vybral Bakchida, jednoho ze svých důvěrníků, místodržícího v Zaeufratí; ten měl v říši velký vliv a byl oddaný králi.

7:8  Et elegit rex ex amicis suis Bacchidem, qui dominabatur trans flumen magnum in regno, et fidelem regi : et misit eum,

7:9  To see the havoc that Judas had made: and the wicked Alcimus he made high priest, and commanded him to take revenge upon the children of Israel.

7:9  Vyslal ho s neznabohem Alkimem, jehož ustanovil za velekněze, a dal mu příkazy, ať Izrael ztrestá.

7:9  ut videret exterminium quod fecit Judas : sed et Alcimum impium constituit in sacerdotium, et mandavit ei facere ultionem in filios Israël.

7:10  And they arose, and came with a great army into the land of Juda: and they sent messengers, and spoke to Judas and his brethren with peaceable words, deceitfully.

7:10  Dali se tedy na pochod, a když s mohutným vojskem přitáhli do Judska, vyslali k Judovi a jeho bratrům posly se lstivou nabídkou míru.

7:10  Et surrexerunt, et venerunt cum exercitu magno in terram Juda : et miserunt nuntios, et locuti sunt ad Judam et ad fratres ejus verbis pacificis in dolo.

7:11  But they gave no heed to their words: for they saw that they were come with a great army.

7:11  Oni ale na jejich slova nedali, neboť viděli, že přitáhli s mohutným vojskem.

7:11  Et non intenderunt sermonibus eorum : viderunt enim quia venerunt cum exercitu magno.

7:12  Then there assembled to Alcimus and Bacchides a company of the scribes, to require things that are just:

7:12  K Alkimovi a Bakchidovi přišla jen skupina znalců Písma, aby hledali spravedlivou dohodu.

7:12  Et convenerunt ad Alcimum et Bacchidem congregatio scribarum requirere quæ justa sunt :

7:13  And first the Assideans, that were among the children of Israel, and they sought peace of them.

7:13  Tito chasidé byli první z Izraelců, kteří žádali o mír.

7:13  et primi, Assidæi qui erant in filiis Israël : et exquirebant ab eis pacem.

7:14  For they said: One that is a priest of the seed of Aaron is come, he will not deceive us.

7:14  Řekli si totiž: „S vojsky přišel kněz z Áronova rodu; ten nám jistě neublíží!“

7:14  Dixerunt enim : Homo sacerdos de semine Aaron venit ; non decipiet nos :

7:15  And he spoke to them peaceably: and he swore to them, saying: We will do you no harm, nor your friends.

7:15  Alkimos s nimi tedy vedl mírová jednání a zavázal se jim přísahou: „Vám ani vašim druhům neuděláme nic zlého.“

7:15  et locutus est cum eis verba pacifica, et juravit illis, dicens : Non inferemus vobis malum, neque amicis vestris.

7:16  And they believed him. And he took threescore of them, and slew them in one day, according to the word that is written:

7:16  A tak mu uvěřili. On ale šedesát z nich zajal a ještě týž den je dal zabít. Jak praví Písmo:

7:16  Et crediderunt ei : et comprehendit ex eis sexaginta viros, et occidit eos in una die, secundum verbum quod scriptum est :

7:17  The flesh of thy saints, and the blood of them they have shed round about Jerusalem, and there was none to bury them.

7:17  „Těla tvých svatých pohodili, jejich krev rozlili kolem Jeruzaléma a nebylo nikoho, kdo by je pochoval.“

7:17  Carnes sanctorum tuorum, et sanguinem ipsorum effuderunt in circuitu Jerusalem, et non erat qui sepeliret.

7:18  Then fear and trembling fell upon all the people: for they said: There is no truth, nor justice among them: for they have broken the covenant, and the oath which they made.

7:18  Na všechen lid z nich tehdy padl strach a hrůza. Říkali si: „Nejde jim o pravdu ani o spravedlnost. Vždyť porušili dohodu a slib, který nám odpřisáhli!“

7:18  Et incubuit timor et tremor in omnem populum : quia dixerunt : Non est veritas, et judicium in eis : transgressi sunt enim constitutum, et jusjurandum quod juraverunt.

7:19  And Bacchides removed the camp from Jerusalem, and pitched in Bethzecha: and he sent, and took many of them that were fled away from him, and some of the people he killed, and threw them into a great pit.

7:19  Bakchides pak odtáhl od Jeruzaléma a utábořil se v Bet-zaitu. Nechal zajmout mnohé z těch, kdo k němu přeběhli, a spolu s dalšími muži z lidu je dal popravit a naházet do veliké jámy.

7:19  Et movit Bacchides castra ab Jerusalem, et applicuit in Bethzecha : et misit, et comprehendit multos ex eis qui a se effugerant : et quosdam de populo mactavit, et in puteum magnum projecit.

7:20  Then he committed the country to Alcimus, and left with him troops to help him. So Bacchides went away to the king.

7:20  Potom svěřil zemi Alkimovi, vojsko mu nechal na pomoc a sám se vrátil ke králi.

7:20  Et commisit regionem Alcimo, et reliquit cum eo auxilium in adjutorium ipsi. Et abiit Bacchides ad regem :

7:21  But Alcimus did what he could to maintain his chief priesthood.

7:21  Alkimos usiloval o to, udržet si velekněžský úřad,

7:21  et satis agebat Alcimus pro principatu sacerdotii sui :

7:22  And they that disturbed the people resorted to him, and they got the land of Juda into their power, and did much hurt in Israel.

7:22  a všelijací škůdci lidu se k němu přidali. Zmocnili se judské země a přivedli Izrael do velikého neštěstí.

7:22  et convenerunt ad eum omnes, qui perturbabant populum suum, et obtinuerunt terram Juda, et fecerunt plagam magnam in Israël.

7:23  And Judas saw all the evils that Alcimus, and they that were with him, did to the children of Israel, much more than the Gentiles.

7:23  Když Juda viděl, že Alkimos se svými stoupenci napáchali mezi Izraelci více zla než pohané,

7:23  Et vidit Judas omnia mala quæ fecit Alcimus et qui cum eo erant filiis Israël, multo plus quam gentes :

7:24  And he went out into all the coasts of Judea round about, and took vengeance upon the men that had revolted, and they ceased to go forth any more into the country.

7:24  obešel všechna judská území, ztrestal všechny přeběhlíky a zabránil jim vycházet do kraje.

7:24  et exiit in omnes fines Judææ in circuitu, et fecit vindictam in viros desertores, et cessaverunt ultra exire in regionem.

7:25  And Alcimus saw that Judas and they that were with him, prevailed: and he knew that he could not stand against them, and he went back to the king, and accused them of many crimes.

7:25  Alkimos viděl, že Juda a jeho stoupenci se vzchopili, a poznal, že před ním nemůže obstát. Obrátil se proto na krále a obvinil je z nejhorších zločinů.

7:25  Vidit autem Alcimus quod prævaluit Judas et qui cum eo erant, et cognovit quia non potest sustinere eos : et regressus est ad regem, et accusavit eos multis criminibus.

7:26  And the king sent Nicanor, one of his principal lords, who was a great enemy to Israel: and he commanded him to destroy the people.

7:26  Král tedy vyslal Nikanora, jednoho ze svých slavných vojevůdců, který z duše nenáviděl Izrael, a přikázal mu, ať ten lid vyhladí.

7:26  Et misit rex Nicanorem, unum ex principibus suis nobilioribus, qui erat inimicitias exercens contra Israël : et mandavit ei evertere populum.

7:27  And Nicanor came to Jerusalem with a great army, and he sent to Judas and to his brethren deceitfully, with friendly words,

7:27  Nikanor přitáhl do Jeruzaléma s mohutným vojskem a lstivě vyslal k Judovi a jeho bratrům mírové posly se slovy:

7:27  Et venit Nicanor in Jerusalem cum exercitu magno, et misit ad Judam et ad fratres ejus verbis pacificis cum dolo,

7:28  Saying: Let there be no fighting between me and you: I will come with a few men, to see your faces with peace.

7:28  „Vyhněme se boji! Přijdu jen s několika muži, abychom si v klidu promluvili tváří v tvář.“

7:28  dicens : Non sit pugna inter me et vos : veniam cum viris paucis, ut videam facies vestras cum pace.

7:29  And he came to Judas, and they saluted one another peaceably: and the enemies were prepared to take away Judas by force.

7:29  Přišel tedy za Judou a mírumilovně se spolu pozdravili. Nepřátelé však byli připraveni Judu unést.

7:29  Et venit ad Judam, et salutaverunt se invicem pacifice : et hostes parati erant rapere Judam.

7:30  And the thing was known to Judas that he was come to him with deceit: and he was much afraid of him, and would not see his face any more.

7:30  Juda poznal, že k němu Nikanor přišel se lstivým úmyslem, a tak si na něj dával pozor a už se s ním nechtěl setkat osobně.

7:30  Et innotuit sermo Judæ quoniam cum dolo venerat ad eum : et conterritus est ab eo, et amplius noluit videre faciem ejus.

7:31  And Nicanor knew that his counsel was discovered: and he went out to fight against Judas, near Capharsalama.

7:31  Když Nikanor viděl, že jeho záměr je odhalen, vytáhl proti Judovi do bitvy u Kfar-šalemu.

7:31  Et cognovit Nicanor quoniam denudatum est consilium ejus : et exivit obviam Judæ in pugnam juxta Capharsalama.

7:32  And there fell of Nicanor's army almost five thousand men, and they fled into the city of David.

7:32  Z Nikanorova vojska tam padlo na 500 mužů a ostatní utekli do Města Davidova.

7:32  Et ceciderunt de Nicanoris exercitu fere quinque millia viri, et fugerunt in civitatem David.

7:33  And after this Nicanor went up into mount Sion: and some of the priests and the people came out to salute him peaceably, and to shew him the holocausts that were offered for the king.

7:33  Po nějaké době vystoupil Nikanor na horu Sion. Někteří kněží a starší lidu vyšli z chrámu, aby ho v míru přivítali a ukázali mu zápalnou oběť, kterou přinášeli za krále.

7:33  Et post hæc verba ascendit Nicanor in montem Sion : et exierunt de sacerdotibus populi salutare eum in pace, et demonstrare ei holocautomata, quæ offerebantur pro rege.

7:34  But he mocked and despised them, and abused them: and he spoke proudly,

7:34  On se jim však vysmál, tropil si z nich žerty, ponižoval je, mluvil nadutě

7:34  Et irridens sprevit eos, et polluit : et locutus est superbe,

7:35  And swore in anger, saying: Unless Judas and his army be delivered into my hands, as soon as ever I return in peace, I will burn this house. And he went out in a great rage.

7:35  a v záchvatu hněvu přísahal: „Jestli mi ihned nevydáte do rukou Judu a jeho vojsko, vypálím tento dům, jakmile se vrátím s vítězstvím!“ Pak odešel nesmírně rozezlen.

7:35  et juravit cum ira, dicens : Nisi traditus fuerit Judas et exercitus ejus in manus meas, continuo cum regressus fuero in pace, succendam domum istam. Et exiit cum ira magna.

7:36  And the priests went in, and stood before the face of the altar and the temple: and weeping, they said:

7:36  Kněží se vrátili do vnitřního nádvoří, postavili se před oltářem a před chrámem a dali se do pláče se slovy:

7:36  Et intraverunt sacerdotes, et steterunt ante faciem altaris et templi, et flentes dixerunt :

7:37  Thou, O Lord, hast chosen this house for thy name to be called upon therein, that it might be a house of prayer and supplication for thy people.

7:37  „Ty sis tento dům vyvolil, aby se v něm vzývalo tvé jméno a aby byl pro tvůj lid domem modlitby a přímluvy.

7:37  Tu, Domine, elegisti domum istam ad invocandum nomen tuum in ea, ut esset domus orationis et obsecrationis populo tuo :

7:38  Be avenged of this man, and his army, and let them fall by the sword: remember their blasphemies, and suffer them not to continue any longer.

7:38  Potrestej toho člověka i s jeho vojskem; ať padnou mečem! Vzpomeň si na jejich rouhání a nedovol jim žít!“

7:38  fac vindictam in homine isto et exercitu ejus, et cadant in gladio : memento blasphemias eorum, et ne dederis eis ut permaneant.

7:39  Then Nicanor went out from Jerusalem, and encamped near to Bethoron: and an army of Syria joined him.

7:39  Nikanor vytáhl z Jeruzaléma a utábořil se u Bet-choronu, kde se k němu připojilo syrské vojsko.

7:39  Et exiit Nicanor ab Jerusalem, et castra applicuit ad Bethoron : et occurrit illi exercitus Syriæ.

7:40  But Judas pitched in Adarsa with three thousand men: and Judas prayed, and said:

7:40  Juda se s třemi tisíci mužů utábořil v Chadaše a takto se modlil:

7:40  Et Judas applicuit in Adarsa cum tribus millibus viris : et oravit Judas, et dixit :

7:41  O Lord, when they that were sent by king Sennacherib blasphemed thee, an angel went out, and slew of them a hundred and eighty-five thousand:

7:41  „Když se kdysi rouhali vyslanci asyrského krále, vyšel tvůj anděl a pobil jich 185 000.

7:41  Qui missi erant a rege Sennacherib, Domine, quia blasphemaverunt te, exiit angelus, et percussit ex eis centum octoginta quinque millia :

7:42  Even so destroy this army in our sight today and let the rest know that he hath spoken ill against thy sanctuary: and judge thou him according to his wickedness.

7:42  Stejně tak dnes rozdrť toto vojsko před námi, ať i ostatní poznají, že Nikanor potupil tvou svatyni. Suď ho, jak si za svou špatnost zaslouží!“

7:42  sic contere exercitum istum in conspectu nostro hodie : et sciant ceteri quia male locutus est super sancta tua : et judica illum secundum malitiam illius.

7:43  And the armies joined battle on the thirteenth day of the month, Adar: and the army of Nicanor was defeated, and he himself was first slain in the battle.

7:43  Vojska se střetla v bitvě třináctého dne měsíce adaru. Nikanorova armáda byla poražena a on sám v boji padl jako první.

7:43  Et commiserunt exercitus prælium tertiadecima die mensis Adar : et contrita sunt castra Nicanoris, et cecidit ipse primus in prælio.

7:44  And when his army saw that Nicanor was slain they threw away their weapons, and fled:

7:44  Když jeho vojsko vidělo, že Nikanor padl, zahodili zbraně a dali se na útěk.

7:44  Ut autem vidit exercitus ejus quia cecidisset Nicanor, projecerunt arma sua, et fugerunt :

7:45  And they pursued after them one day's journey from Adazer, even till ye come to Gazara, and they sounded the trumpets after them with signals.

7:45  Judovi bojovníci je pronásledovali den cesty od Chadaše až ke Gezeru, troubili přitom na trubky a svolávali všechny do boje.

7:45  et persecuti sunt eos viam unius diei ab Adazer usquequo veniatur in Gazara, et tubis cecinerunt post eos cum significationibus :

7:46  And they went forth out of all the towns of Judea round about, and they pushed them with the horns, and they turned again to them, and they were all slain with the sword, and there was not left of them so much as one.

7:46  Židé ze všech okolních vesnic tedy vyrazili, odřízli jim cestu a hnali je proti jejich pronásledovatelům, takže všichni padli mečem; nezůstal z nich ani jediný.

7:46  et exierunt de omnibus castellis Judææ in circuitu, et ventilabant eos cornibus, et convertebantur iterum ad eos, et ceciderunt omnes gladio, et non est relictus ex eis nec unus.

7:47  And they took the spoils of them for a booty, and they cut off Nicanor's head, and his right hand, which he had proudly stretched out, and they brought it, and hung it up over against Jerusalem.

7:47  Obrali je o hojnou kořist, Nikanorovi usekli hlavu a také pravou ruku, kterou tak zpupně pozdvihl, odnesli ji k Jeruzalému a vystavili tam.

7:47  Et acceperunt spolia eorum in prædam : et caput Nicanoris amputaverunt, et dexteram ejus, quam extenderat superbe, et attulerunt, et suspenderunt contra Jerusalem.

7:48  And the people rejoiced exceedingly, and they spent that day with great joy.

7:48  Lid se nesmírně radoval a slavili ten den jako den veliké radosti.

7:48  Et lætatus est populus valde, et egerunt diem illam in lætitia magna.

7:49  And he ordained that this day should be kept every year, being the thirteenth of the month of Adar

7:49  Také ustanovili, že tento svátek budou slavit každoročně třináctého dne měsíce adar.

7:49  Et constituit agi omnibus annis diem istam tertiadecima die mensis Adar.

7:50  And the land of Juda was quiet for a short time.

7:50  V Judsku pak nakrátko zavládl klid.

7:50  Et siluit terra Juda dies paucos.
