Chapter 22
Matt Worsley 22:1  And Jesus resuming his discourse spake unto them again in parables,
Matt Worsley 22:2  saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king, who made a wedding-feast for his son;
Matt Worsley 22:3  and sent his servants to call those that were invited to the wedding: and they would not come.
Matt Worsley 22:4  Then he sent other servants, saying, Tell them that are invited, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready; come to the wedding.
Matt Worsley 22:5  But they slighted him, and went away, one to his field and another to his merchandize:
Matt Worsley 22:6  and others seized his servants, and shamefully abused them, and slew them.
Matt Worsley 22:7  And when the king heard of it, he was highly provoked, and sent his troops, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city.
Matt Worsley 22:8  Then saith he to his servants, The feast is ready, but they that were invited were not worthy of it:
Matt Worsley 22:9  go therefore into the public streets, and as many as ye meet with invite to the wedding.
Matt Worsley 22:10  And those servants went out into the high-ways, and brought in all they met with, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests.
Matt Worsley 22:11  But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man that had not put on a wedding-garment, and saith to him,
Matt Worsley 22:12  Friend, how camest thou in here without a wedding-garment? and he was struck speechless.
Matt Worsley 22:13  Then said the king to his attendants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him up, and throw him out into the darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of the teeth:
Matt Worsley 22:15  Then the pharisees went and consulted how they might insnare Him in his discourse.
Matt Worsley 22:16  And they send to Him their disciples along with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art a man of truth, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest for any man; for thou regardest not the person of men: Tell us therefore what thou thinkest,
Matt Worsley 22:18  But Jesus knew their malice, and said, Why do ye tempt me, ye hypocrites?
Matt Worsley 22:19  Shew me the tribute-money. And they brought Him a Roman Penny.
Matt Worsley 22:20  And He saith unto them, Whose image and inscription is this?
Matt Worsley 22:21  They answered, Cesar's. Then saith He unto them, Render therefore to Cesar the things that are Cesar's; and to God the things that are God's.
Matt Worsley 22:22  And when they heard this, they marvelled, and left Him and went away.
Matt Worsley 22:23  On the same day came the sadducees to Him, who say there is no resurrection,
Matt Worsley 22:24  and asked Him, saying, Master, Moses said, If any man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up seed unto his brother.
Matt Worsley 22:25  Now there were with us seven brothers, and the first married and died, and having no issue left his wife to his brother;
Matt Worsley 22:26  likewise the second also, and the third, even to seven;
Matt Worsley 22:28  therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
Matt Worsley 22:29  But Jesus answered them, Ye are mistaken, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God:
Matt Worsley 22:30  for in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Matt Worsley 22:31  But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read what is spoken to you by God,
Matt Worsley 22:32  saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
Matt Worsley 22:33  And when the people heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.
Matt Worsley 22:34  But when the pharisees heard that He had silenced the sadducees,
Matt Worsley 22:35  they gathered together again, and one of them, an interpreter of the law, propounded a question, to try Him,
Matt Worsley 22:36  and said, Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law?
Matt Worsley 22:37  And Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind: this is the first and great command.
Matt Worsley 22:40  On these two precepts depend all the law and the prophets.
Matt Worsley 22:41  Now while the pharisees were thus gathered together, Jesus asked them,
Matt Worsley 22:42  saying, What think ye of the Messiah? whose son is He? They say unto Him, David's.
Matt Worsley 22:43  He saith unto them, How then does David by inspiration call Him Lord,
Matt Worsley 22:44  saying, The Lord said unto my Lord, "Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?"
Matt Worsley 22:45  therefore if David call Him Lord, how is He his son?
Matt Worsley 22:46  And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor did any dare, from that day, to ask Him any more such questions.
