1:1  Now it came to pass, after that Alexander the son of Philip the Macedonian, who first reigned in Greece, coming out of the land of Cethim, had overthrown Darius, king of the Persians and Medes:

1:1  Poté, co Alexandr Makedonský, syn Filipův, ovládl Řecko, vytáhl ze země Kitejců, porazil Dareia, krále Peršanů a Médů, a stal se králem místo něj.

1:1  Et factum est, postquam percussit Alexander Philippi Macedo, qui primus regnavit in Græcia, egressus de terra Cethim, Darium regem Persarum et Medorum :

1:2  He fought many battles, and took the strong holds of all, and slew the kings of the earth:

1:2  Svedl mnoho bitev, zmocnil se pevností a pobil místní krále.

1:2  constituit prælia multa, et obtinuit omnium munitiones, et interfecit reges terræ,

1:3  And he went through even to the ends of the earth: and took the spoils of many nations: and the earth was quiet before him.

1:3  Pronikl až na kraj světa a pobral kořist mnoha národů. Svět mu ležel u nohou, a tak zpyšněl a v srdci propadl nadutosti.

1:3  et pertransiit usque ad fines terræ : et accepit spolia multitudinis gentium, et siluit terra in conspectu ejus.

1:4  And he gathered a power, and a very strong army: and his heart was exalted and lifted up:

1:4  Shromáždil obrovskou armádu a podrobil si země, národy i vladaře, takže mu museli odvádět daň.

1:4  Et congregavit virtutem, et exercitum fortem nimis : et exaltatum est, et elevatum cor ejus :

1:5  And he subdued countries of nations, and princes; and they became tributaries to him.

1:5  Poté však ulehl na lůžko a poznal, že umírá.

1:5  et obtinuit regiones gentium, et tyrannos : et facti sunt illi in tributum.

1:6  And after these things, he fell down upon his bed, and knew that he should die.

1:6  Zavolal proto své slovutné velmože, s nimiž od mládí vyrůstal, a ještě za života mezi ně rozdělil své království.

1:6  Et post hæc decidit in lectum, et cognovit quia moreretur.

1:7  And he called his servants, the nobles that were brought up with him from his youth: and he divided his kingdom among them, while he was yet alive.

1:7  Alexandr kraloval dvanáct let, a když zemřel,

1:7  Et vocavit pueros suos nobiles, qui secum erant nutriti a juventute : et divisit illis regnum suum, cum adhuc viveret.

1:8  And Alexander reigned twelve years, and he died.

1:8  nastoupili k moci jeho velmoži, každý na svém území.

1:8  Et regnavit Alexander annis duodecim, et mortuus est.

1:9  And his servants made themselves kings, every one in his place:

1:9  Po jeho smrti si všichni nasadili na hlavy koruny a po nich je mnoho let nosili jejich synové. A po celé zemi šířili jen víc a více neštěstí.

1:9  Et obtinuerunt pueri ejus regnum, unusquisque in loco suo :

1:10  And they all put crowns upon themselves after his death, and their sons after them, many years; and evils were multiplied in the earth.

1:10  Z nich vzešel hříšný výhonek, Antiochos Epifanes, syn krále Antiocha. Byl rukojmím v Římě a v roce 137 řeckého království se stal králem.

1:10  et imposuerunt omnes sibi diademata post mortem ejus, et filii eorum post eos annis multis, et multiplicata sunt mala in terra.

1:11  And there came out of them a wicked root, Antiochus the Illustrious, the son of king Antiochus, who had been a hostage at Rome: and he reigned in the hundred and thirty-seventh year of the kingdom of the Greeks.

1:11  V té době povstali v Izraeli jistí bezbožníci a mnohé přesvědčili slovy: „Pojďme uzavřít smlouvu s pohanskými národy v našem okolí – vždyť od té doby, co se od nich oddělujeme, nás stíhají jen samá neštěstí!“

1:11  Et exiit ex eis radix peccatrix, Antiochus illustris, filius Antiochi regis, qui fuerat Romæ obses : et regnavit in anno centesimo trigesimo septimo regni Græcorum.

1:12  In those days there went out of Israel wicked men, and they persuaded many, saying: Let us go and make a covenant with the heathens that are round about us: for since we departed from them, many evils have befallen us.

1:12  Některým z lidu se ty řeči líbily,

1:12  In diebus illis, exierunt ex Israël filii iniqui, et suaserunt multis, dicentes : Eamus, et disponamus testamentum cum gentibus, quæ circa nos sunt : quia ex quo recessimus ab eis, invenerunt nos multa mala.

1:13  And the word seemed good in their eyes.

1:13  a tak se horlivě vydali ke králi. Ten jim dal povolení řídit se pohanskými zákony,

1:13  Et bonus visus est sermo in oculis eorum.

1:14  And some of the people determined to do this, and went to the king: and he gave them license to do after the ordinances of the heathens.

1:14  a oni tedy podle pohanského zvyku vybudovali v Jeruzalémě gymnasion,

1:14  Et destinaverunt aliqui de populo, et abierunt ad regem : et dedit illis potestatem ut facerent justitiam gentium.

1:15  And they built a place of exercise in Jerusalem, according to the laws of the nations:

1:15  odstraňovali si obřízku a odpadli od svaté smlouvy. Spřáhli se s pohany a zaprodali se páchání zla.

1:15  Et ædificaverunt gymnasium in Jerosolymis secundum leges nationum :

1:16  And they made themselves prepuces, and departed from the holy covenant, and joined themselves to the heathens, and were sold to do evil:

1:16  Když Antiochos upevnil svou vládu nad Sýrií, rozhodl se ovládnout také Egypt, aby tak panoval nad oběma říšemi.

1:16  et fecerunt sibi præputia, et recesserunt a testamento sancto, et juncti sunt nationibus, et venundati sunt ut facerent malum.

1:17  And the kingdom was established before Antiochus, and he had a mind to reign over the land of Egypt, that he might reign over two kingdoms.

1:17  Vpadl tedy do Egypta s mohutným vojskem, s vozy a slony, s jízdou a velkým loďstvem

1:17  Et paratum est regnum in conspectu Antiochi, et cœpit regnare in terra Ægypti ut regnaret super duo regna.

1:18  And he entered into Egypt with a great multitude, with chariots, and elephants, and horsemen, and a great number of ships:

1:18  a svedl bitvu s egyptským králem Ptolemaiem. Ptolemaios se obrátil na útěk a zůstalo tam mnoho padlých.

1:18  Et intravit in Ægyptum in multitudine gravi, in curribus, et elephantis, et equitibus, et copiosa navium multitudine :

1:19  And he made war against Ptolemee king of Egypt; but Ptolemee was afraid at his presence and fled, and many were wounded unto death.

1:19  Antiochos dobyl egyptská opevněná města a vyplenil Egypt.

1:19  et constituit bellum adversus Ptolemæum regem Ægypti, et veritus est Ptolemæus a facie ejus, et fugit, et ceciderunt vulnerati multi.

1:20  And he took the strong cities in the land of Egypt: and he took the spoils of the land of Egypt.

1:20  Po porážce Egypta se Antiochos v roce 143 vydal zpět. Přitáhl do Izraele a s mohutným vojskem vešel do Jeruzaléma.

1:20  Et comprehendit civitates munitas in terra Ægypti, et accepit spolia terræ Ægypti.

1:21  And after Antiochus had ravaged Egypt, in the hundred and forty-third year, he returned and went up against Israel.

1:21  Pyšně vstoupil do svatyně a sebral zlatý oltář, světelný svícen a všechno jeho náčiní,

1:21  Et convertit Antiochus, postquam percussit Ægyptum in centesimo et quadragesimo tertio anno : et ascendit ad Israël,

1:22  And he went up to Jerusalem, with a great multitude.

1:22  stůl na chleby předložení, konvice pro úlitby, číše a zlaté kadidelnice, oponu i věnce. Sloupal všechny zlaté ozdoby z průčelí chrámu,

1:22  et ascendit Jerosolymam in multitudine gravi.

1:23  And he proudly entered into the sanctuary, and took away the golden altar, and the candlestick of light, and all the vessels thereof, and the table of proposition, and the pouring vessels, and the vials, and the little mortars of gold, and the veil, and the crowns, and the golden ornament that was before the temple: and he broke them all in pieces.

1:23  pobral stříbro, zlato, vzácné náčiní a také skryté poklady, které našel.

1:23  Et intravit in sanctificationem cum superbia, et accepit altare aureum, et candelabrum luminis, et universa vasa ejus, et mensam propositionis, et libatoria, et phialas, et mortariola aurea, et velum, et coronas, et ornamentum aureum, quod in facie templi erat : et comminuit omnia.

1:24  And he took the silver and gold, and the precious vessels: and he took the hidden treasures, which he found: and when he had taken all away, he departed into his own country.

1:24  Všechno to vzal a odtáhl do své země. Prolil mnoho krve a mluvil velmi zpupně.

1:24  Et accepit argentum, et aurum, et vasa concupiscibilia : et accepit thesauros occultos, quos invenit : et sublatis omnibus, abiit in terram suam.

1:25  And he made a great slaughter of men, and spoke very proudly.

1:25  Po celém Izraeli tehdy nastalo veliké truchlení.

1:25  Et fecit cædem hominum, et locutus est in superbia magna.

1:26  And there was great mourning in Israel, and in every place where they were:

1:26  Přední mužové a starci kvíleli, panny i mládenci chřadli a krása žen uvadla.

1:26  Et factus est planctus magnus in Israël, et in omni loco eorum :

1:27  And the princes, and the ancients mourned, and the virgins and the young men were made feeble, and the beauty of the women was changed.

1:27  Každý ženich propukl v pláč a nevěsta naříkala v ložnici.

1:27  et ingemuerunt principes et seniores ; virgines et juvenes infirmati sunt : et speciositas mulierum immutata est.

1:28  Every bridegroom took up lamentation: and the bride that sat in the marriage bed, mourned:

1:28  Země se ustrnula nad svými obyvateli a celý dům Jákobův se zahalil do hanby.

1:28  Omnis maritus sumpsit lamentum, et quæ sedebant in thoro maritali, lugebant :

1:29  And the land was moved for the inhabitants thereof, and all the house of Jacob was covered with confusion.

1:29  Po dvou letech král do judských měst poslal vrchního výběrčího daní. Ten přitáhl do Jeruzaléma s mohutným vojskem,

1:29  et commota est terra super habitantes in ea, et universa domus Jacob induit confusionem.

1:30  And after two full years, the king sent the chief collector of his tributes to the cities of Juda, and he came to Jerusalem with a great multitude.

1:30  a protože předstíral pokojné úmysly, místní mu uvěřili. Pak ale město zničehonic napadl, způsobil mu velikou porážku a pobil mnoho Izraelců.

1:30  Et post duos annos dierum, misit rex principem tributorum in civitates Juda, et venit Jerusalem cum turba magna.

1:31  And he spoke to them peaceable words in deceit; and they believed him.

1:31  Když město vyplenil, vypálil ho a rozbořil domy i hradební zdi.

1:31  Et locutus est ad eos verba pacifica in dolo : et crediderunt ei.

1:32  And he fell upon the city suddenly, and struck it with a great slaughter, and destroyed much people in Israel.

1:32  Nepřátelé odvlekli ženy a děti do zajetí a zabavili dobytek.

1:32  Et irruit super civitatem repente, et percussit eam plaga magna, et perdidit populum multum ex Israël.

1:33  And he took the spoils of the city, and burnt it with fire, and threw down the houses thereof, and the walls thereof round about:

1:33  Pak znovu vystavěli Město Davidovo a udělali si z něj pevnost s vysokou a mohutnou hradbou a pevnými věžemi.

1:33  Et accepit spolia civitatis : et succendit eam igni, et destruxit domos ejus, et muros ejus in circuitu :

1:34  And they took the women captive, and the children, and the cattle they possessed.

1:34  Dosadili tam hříšné a bezbožné muže, a ti se tam opevnili.

1:34  et captivas duxerunt mulieres, et natos et pecora possederunt.

1:35  And they built the city of David with a great and strong wall, and with strong towers, and made it a fortress for them:

1:35  Uložili si tam zbraně a potraviny, uskladnili kořist, kterou shromáždili z Jeruzaléma, a stali se velikou hrozbou.

1:35  Et ædificaverunt civitatem David muro magno et firmo, et turribus firmis, et facta est illis in arcem :

1:36  And they placed there a sinful nation, wicked men, and they fortified themselves therein: and they stored up armour; and victuals, and gathered together the spoils of Jerusalem;

1:36  Byla to pro svaté místo léčka a pro Izrael napořád zlý nepřítel.

1:36  et posuerunt illic gentem peccatricem viros iniquos, et convaluerunt in ea : et posuerunt arma, et escas, et congregaverunt spolia Jerusalem :

1:37  And laid them up there: and they became a great snare.

1:37  Prolévali nevinnou krev kolem svatyně a poskvrnili ji.

1:37  et reposuerunt illic : et facti sunt in laqueum magnum.

1:38  And this was a place to lie in wait against the sanctuary, and an evil devil in Israel.

1:38  Obyvatelé Jeruzaléma se kvůli nim rozprchli a stalo se z něj sídlo cizáků. Město se svým potomkům stalo cizinou, jeho děti ho opustily.

1:38  Et factum est hoc ad insidias sanctificationi, et in diabolum malum in Israël :

1:39  And they shed innocent blood round about the sanctuary, and defiled the holy place.

1:39  Jeho svatyně zpustla jako poušť, jeho slavnosti se změnily v truchlení, jeho soboty se staly potupou a jeho čest opovržením.

1:39  et effuderunt sanguinem innocentem per circuitum sanctificationis, et contaminaverunt sanctificationem.

1:40  And the inhabitants of Jerusalem fled away by reason of them and the city was made the habitation of strangers, and she became a stranger to her own seed, and her children forsook her.

1:40  Jak bylo dříve slavné, bylo teď zneuctěno a jeho vznešenost se změnila v truchlení.

1:40  Et fugerunt habitatores Jerusalem propter eos, et facta est habitatio exterorum, et facta est extera semini suo, et nati ejus reliquerunt eam.

1:41  Her sanctuary was desolate like a wilderness, her festival days were turned into mourning, her sabbaths into reproach, her honours were brought to nothing.

1:41  Král pak vydal výnos pro celé království, že všichni mají tvořit jeden lid

1:41  Sanctificatio ejus desolata est sicut solitudo ; dies festi ejus conversi sunt in luctum, sabbata ejus in opprobrium, honores ejus in nihilum.

1:42  Her dishonour was increased according to her glory, and her excellency was turned into mourning.

1:42  a každý má opustit své vlastní zvyky. Všichni pohané králova slova poslechli,

1:42  Secundum gloriam ejus multiplicata est ignominia ejus, et sublimitas ejus conversa est in luctum.

1:43  And king Antiochus wrote to all his kingdom, that all the people should be one: and every one should leave his own law.

1:43  a dokonce i mnozí Izraelci s radostí přijali jeho náboženství a začali obětovat modlám a znesvěcovat sobotu.

1:43  Et scripsit rex Antiochus omni regno suo ut esset omnis populus unus : et relinqueret unusquisque legem suam.

1:44  And all nations consented, according to the word of king Antiochus.

1:44  Král vyslal do Jeruzaléma a do judských měst posly s rozkazy, ať se ve své zemi začnou řídit cizími zvyky.

1:44  Et consenserunt omnes gentes secundum verbum regis Antiochi :

1:45  And many of Israel consented to his service, and they sacrificed to idols, and profaned the sabbath.

1:45  Nařídil, ať zruší zápaly, pokojné oběti i úlitby ve svatyni, ať znesvěcují soboty a svátky,

1:45  et multi ex Israël consenserunt servituti ejus, et sacrificaverunt idolis, et coinquinaverunt sabbatum.

1:46  And the king sent letters by the hands of messengers to Jerusalem, and to all the cities of Juda; that they should follow the law of the nations of the earth.

1:46  ať poskvrní svatyni i svaté kněží,

1:46  Et misit rex libros per manus nuntiorum in Jerusalem, et in omnes civitates Juda, ut sequerentur leges gentium terræ,

1:47  And should forbid holocausts and sacrifices, and atonements to be made in the temple of God.

1:47  ať postaví oltáře, posvátné okrsky a modlářské chrámy, ať obětují vepře a jiná nečistá zvířata,

1:47  et prohiberent holocausta et sacrificia, et placationes fieri in templo Dei,

1:48  And should prohibit the sabbath, and the festival days to be celebrated.

1:48  ať nechávají své syny neobřezané. Měli tak zohavit své duše vším nečistým a znesvěcujícím,

1:48  et prohiberent celebrari sabbatum, et dies solemnes :

1:49  And he commanded the holy places to be profaned, and the holy people of Israel.

1:49  aby zapomněli na Zákon a opustili všechna ustanovení.

1:49  et jussit coinquinari sancta, et sanctum populum Israël.

1:50  And he commanded altars to be built, and temples, and idols, and swine's flesh to be immolated, and unclean beasts,

1:50  Kdokoli by se královým nařízením nepodrobil, měl zemřít.

1:50  Et jussit ædificari aras, et templa, et idola, et immolari carnes suillas, et pecora communia,

1:51  And that they should leave their children uncircumcised, and let their souls be defiled with all uncleannesses, and abominations, to the end that they should forget the law, and should change all the justifications of God.

1:51  Všechna tato nařízení vydal pro celé království a nade vším lidem ustanovil dozorce. Judským obcím pak přikázal, aby v každé z nich konali oběti.

1:51  et relinquere filios suos incircumcisos, et coinquinari animas eorum in omnibus immundis, et abominationibus, ita ut obliviscerentur legem, et immutarent omnes justificationes Dei :

1:52  And that whosoever would not do according to the word of king Antiochus, should be put to death.

1:52  Mnozí z lidu – každý, kdo odpadl od Zákona – se přidali. Páchali v zemi zlo

1:52  et quicumque non fecissent secundum verbum regis Antiochi, morerentur.

1:53  According to all these words he wrote to his whole kingdom: and he appointed rulers over the people that should force them to do these things.

1:53  a zahnali Izrael, aby hledal útočiště v kdejaké skrýši.

1:53  Secundum omnia verba hæc scripsit omni regno suo : et præposuit principes populo, qui hæc fieri cogerent.

1:54  And they commanded the cities of Juda to sacrifice.

1:54  Patnáctého dne měsíce kislev 145 roku Antiochos vztyčil na chrámovém oltáři Otřesnou ohavnost. V okolních judských městech postavili oltáře

1:54  Et jusserunt civitatibus Juda sacrificare.

1:55  Then many of the people were gathered to them that had forsaken the law of the Lord: and they committed evils in the land:

1:55  a pálili kadidlo ve dveřích domů a na ulicích.

1:55  Et congregati sunt multi de populo ad eos qui dereliquerant legem Domini, et fecerunt mala super terram :

1:56  And they drove away the people of Israel into lurking holes, and into the secret places of fugitives.

1:56  Knihy Zákona, které našli, roztrhali a spálili,

1:56  et effugaverunt populum Israël in abditis, et in absconditis fugitivorum locis.

1:57  On the fifteenth day of the month, Casleu, in the hundred and forty-fifth year, king Antiochus set up the abominable idol of desolation upon the altar of God, and they built altars throughout all the cities of Juda round about:

1:57  a u koho se našla Kniha smlouvy nebo kdo žil podle Zákona, toho stihl králův rozsudek smrti.

1:57  Die quintadecima mensis Casleu, quinto et quadragesimo et centesimo anno, ædificavit rex Antiochus abominandum idolum desolationis super altare Dei, et per universas civitates Juda in circuitu ædificaverunt aras :

1:58  And they burnt incense, and sacrificed at the doors of the houses and in the streets.

1:58  Měsíc za měsícem se dopouštěli násilí na všech Izraelcích, které přistihli ve městech.

1:58  et ante januas domorum et in plateis incendebant thura, et sacrificabant :

1:59  And they cut in pieces, and burnt with fire the books of the law of God:

1:59  Vždy pětadvacátého dne v měsíci obětovali na oltáříku, který stál na oltáři v chrámu.

1:59  et libros legis Dei combusserunt igni, scindentes eos :

1:60  And every one with whom the books of the testament of the Lord were found, and whosoever observed the law of the Lord, they put to death, according to the edict of the king.

1:60  Ženy, které nechaly své děti obřezat, podle nařízení popravovali

1:60  et apud quemcumque inveniebantur libri testamenti Domini, et quicumque observabat legem Domini, secundum edictum regis trucidabant eum.

1:61  Thus by their power did they deal with the people of Israel, that were found in the cities month after month.

1:61  stejně jako jejich příbuzné a ty, kdo obřízku provedli. Novorozeňata věšeli na krcích jejich matek.

1:61  In virtute sua faciebant hæc populo Israël, qui inveniebatur in omni mense et mense in civitatibus.

1:62  And on the five and twentieth day of the month they sacrificed upon the altar of the idol that was over against the altar of God.

1:62  Mnozí v Izraeli však zůstali silní a pevně si předsevzali, že nebudou jíst nic nečistého.

1:62  Et quinta et vigesima die mensis sacrificabant super aram, quæ erat contra altare.

1:63  Now the women that circumcised their children were slain according to the commandment of king Antiochus,

1:63  Volili raději smrt, než aby se poskvrnili pokrmem a znesvětili svatou smlouvu; a tak umírali.

1:63  Et mulieres, quæ circumcidebant filios suos, trucidabantur secundum jussum regis Antiochi,

1:64  And they hanged the children about their neck in all their houses: and those that had circumcised them, they put to death.

1:64  Na Izrael tehdy dolehl strašlivý hněv.

1:64  et suspendebant pueros a cervicibus per universas domos eorum : et eos, qui circumciderant illos, trucidabant.

1:65  And many of the people of Israel determined with themselves, that they would not eat unclean things: and they chose rather to die, than to be defiled with unclean meats:

1:65  Et multi de populo Israël definierunt apud se, ut non manducarent immunda : et elegerunt magis mori, quam cibis coinquinari immundis :

1:66  And they would not break the holy law of God and they were put to death:

1:66  et noluerunt infringere legem Dei sanctam, et trucidati sunt :

1:67  And there was very great wrath upon the people.

1:67  et facta est ira magna super populum valde.
