Chapter 1
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:1 | Paul and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons:
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:6 | Being confident of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:7 | It is indeed right for me to think this of you all because you have me in your hearts, both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, and you are all fellow partakers of my grace.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:8 | For God is my witness, how I long after you all with the deep affections of Jesus Christ.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:9 | And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more in all knowledge and understanding
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:10 | In order that you may approve the things that are excellent, so that you may be pure and without offense unto the day of Christ,
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:11 | Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the praise and glory of God.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:12 | Brethren, I want you to know that the things befalling me have turned out rather unto the advancement of the gospel;
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:13 | So that my bonds in Christ have become manifest in the whole palace, and to all others;
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:14 | And most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord, have been emboldened by my bonds to speak the Word more abundantly without fear.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:15 | Indeed, some are proclaiming Christ out of envy and strife, but some with good intentions.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:16 | On the one hand, those who are preaching out of a contentious spirit, and not purely, are thinking to add grief to my bonds.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:17 | But on the other hand, those who are preaching out of love know that I am set for the defense of the gospel.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:18 | What then shall I say? Nevertheless, in every way, whether in pretext or in truth, Christ is being proclaimed; and I rejoice in this, yes, and will also continue to rejoice.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:19 | For I know that this shall turn out for my salvation through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:20 | According to my earnest expectation and hope, that in no way shall I be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, Christ shall also be magnified now in my body, whether by life or by death.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:22 | Now if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor. But I do not know what I should choose.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:23 | For I am hard pressed to choose between the two. I desire to depart, and to be with Christ, which is far better;
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:25 | And being persuaded of this, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your advancement and joy in the faith;
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:26 | So that through my presence with you again, your rejoicing for me may abound in Christ Jesus.
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:27 | Only conduct yourselves worthily of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you, or am absent, I may hear the reports about you; that you are standing fast in one spirit, striving together with one soul for the faith of the gospel,
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:28 | And not being intimidated in any way by those who oppose the gospel; which to them is a demonstration of destruction, but to you of salvation, and this from God;
Phil | AFV2020 | 1:29 | Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His name's sake;
Chapter 2
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:1 | Now then, if there be any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any deep inner affections and compassions,
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:2 | Fulfill my joy, that you be of the same mind, having the same love, being joined together in soul, minding the one thing.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:3 | Let nothing be done through contention or vainglory, but in humility, each esteeming the others above himself.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:4 | Let each one look not only after his own things, but let each one also consider the things of others.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:6 | Who, although He existed in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:7 | But emptied Himself, and was made in the likeness of men, and took the form of a servant;
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:8 | And being found in the manner of man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:9 | Therefore, God has also highly exalted Him and bestowed upon Him a name which is above every name;
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:10 | That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of beings in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:11 | And every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:12 | So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:13 | For it is God Who works in you both to will and to do according to His good pleasure.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:15 | So that you may be blameless and without offense, innocent children of God in the midst of a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:16 | Holding forth the Word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, nor labored in vain.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:17 | But if I am also poured out on the sacrifice and ministration of your faith, I am glad and rejoice together with you all.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:19 | Now I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon that I may also be encouraged when I know your state of affairs;
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:22 | But you know the proof of him, that as a child with a father, he served with me in the gospel.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:25 | But I felt it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and soldier, but your messenger and minister for my need,
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:26 | Since he was longing after all of you, and was deeply depressed because you had heard that he was sick.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:27 | For indeed he was sick, and close to death; but God had mercy on him; and not on him alone, but also on me, so that I might not have sorrow upon sorrow.
Phil | AFV2020 | 2:28 | Therefore, I have sent him with great care so that you might rejoice when you see him again, and I might be less sorrowful.
Chapter 3
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:1 | Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. Indeed, for me to write the same things to you is not troublesome, but for you it is safe.
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:3 | For we are the circumcision, who serve God in the spirit and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and do not trust in the flesh;
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:4 | Though I might also have reason to trust in the flesh. If any other thinks he has cause to trust in the flesh, I have much more:
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:5 | Circumcised on the eighth day; of the race of Israel, from the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; with respect to law, a Pharisee;
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:6 | With respect to zeal, persecuting the church; with respect to righteousness that is in law, blameless.
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:7 | Yet the things that were gain to me, these things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:8 | But then truly, I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord; for Whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as dung; that I may gain Christ
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:9 | And may be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is derived from law, but that righteousness which is by the faith of Christ—the righteousness of God that is based on faith;
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:10 | That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death;
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:12 | Not as though I have already received, or have already been perfected; but I am striving, so that I may also lay hold on that for which I also was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:13 | Brethren, I do not count myself as having attained; but this one thing I do— forgetting the things that are behind, and reaching forth to the things that are ahead,
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:15 | So then, let as many as be perfect be of this mind. And if in anything you are otherwise minded, God will reveal even this to you.
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:16 | Nevertheless, in regard to that which we have attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:17 | Brethren, be imitators together of me, and bear in mind those who walk in this way, as you have us for an example.
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:18 | (For many walk contrary; I have often told you of them, and I tell you now with weeping, they are the enemies of the cross of Christ;
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:19 | Whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame; for they mind earthly things.)
Phil | AFV2020 | 3:20 | But for us, the commonwealth of God exists in the heavens, from where also we are waiting for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;
Chapter 4
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:1 | Therefore, my brethren, beloved and longed for, my joy and my crown, stand fast in the Lord, beloved.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:3 | And I ask you, my true yokefellow, to assist these women, who labored with me in the gospel, and with Clement, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:6 | Do not be anxious about anything; but by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God in everything;
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:7 | And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:8 | Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:9 | Whatever things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, you do also; and the God of peace shall be with you.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:10 | But I rejoiced greatly in the Lord, that at last your care for me has revived— although you were already thinking of me, but you lacked an opportunity to provide.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:11 | I am not saying this in respect to being destitute; for I have learned that in whatever circumstances I am, to be content.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:12 | For I have experienced being brought low, and I have experienced abounding. In everything and in all things I have been taught both to be full and to hunger, both to abound and to be without.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:15 | For you Philippians also know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I came from Macedonia, not one church communicated with me in regard to giving and receiving, except you alone.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:17 | I do not say this because I am seeking a gift, but because I am seeking fruit that may abound to your credit.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:18 | But I have all things and abound. I am full after receiving from Epaphroditus the things you sent, a sweet-smelling savor, a sacrifice acceptable and well pleasing to God.
Phil | AFV2020 | 4:19 | But my God will supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
