Chapter 1
Ephe Murdock 1:1  PAUL, a legate of Jesus the Messiah by the pleasure of God, to them who are at Ephesus, sanctified, and believing in Jesus the Messiah:
Ephe Murdock 1:2  Peace be with you, and grace from God our Father, and from our Lord Jesus the Messiah.
Ephe Murdock 1:3  Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, who hath blessed us with all blessings of the Spirit in heaven, by the Messiah:
Ephe Murdock 1:4  according as he had previously chosen us in him, before the foundation of the world, that we might be holy and without blame before him; and, in love, predestinated us for himself;
Ephe Murdock 1:5  and adopted us for sons, in Jesus the Messiah, as was agreeable to his pleasure:
Ephe Murdock 1:6  that the glory of his grace might be glorified, which he poured upon us by his Beloved One;
Ephe Murdock 1:7  by whom we have redemption, and the forgiveness of sins by his blood, according to the riches of his grace,
Ephe Murdock 1:8  which hath abounded in us, in all wisdom and all spiritual understanding.
Ephe Murdock 1:9  And he hath made us know the mystery of his pleasure, which he had before determined in himself to accomplish,
Ephe Murdock 1:10  in the dispensation of the fullness of times; that all things might again be made new in the Messiah, things in heaven and things on earth.
Ephe Murdock 1:11  And in him we are elected, according as he predestined us and willed, who worketh all things according to the counsel of his pleasure;
Ephe Murdock 1:12  that we should be they who first hoped in the Messiah, to the honor of his glory.
Ephe Murdock 1:13  In whom, ye also have heard the word of truth, which is the gospel of your life, and have believed in him; and have been sealed with the Holy Spirit, who was promised,
Ephe Murdock 1:14  who is the earnest of our inheritance, until the redemption of them that are alive, and for the praise of his glory.
Ephe Murdock 1:15  Therefore, lo I also, since I heard of your faith in our Lord Jesus the Messiah, and of your love towards all the saints,
Ephe Murdock 1:16  cease not to give thanks on your account, and to remember you in my prayers;
Ephe Murdock 1:17  that the God of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, the Father of glory, may give to you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation, in the recognition of him;
Ephe Murdock 1:18  and that the eyes of your hearts may be enlightened, so that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints;
Ephe Murdock 1:19  and what is the excellence of the majesty of his power in us who believe; according to the efficiency of the strength of his power,
Ephe Murdock 1:20  which he put forth in the Messiah, and raised him from the dead, and seated him at his right hand in heaven,
Ephe Murdock 1:21  high above all principalities, and authorities, and powers, and lordships, and above every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that to come:
Ephe Murdock 1:22  and he hath subjected all things under his feet; and hath given him who is high over all, to be the head of the church;
Ephe Murdock 1:23  which is his body, and the fullness of him who filleth all in all:
Chapter 2
Ephe Murdock 2:1  and also you, he filleth, who were dead in your sins, and in your offences,
Ephe Murdock 2:2  in the which ye before walked, according to the worldliness of this world, and according to the pleasure of the prince potentate of the air, that spirit which is active in the children of disobedience:
Ephe Murdock 2:3  in which deeds we also, formerly, were conversant, in the cravings of our flesh; and we did the pleasure of our flesh, and of our mind, and were altogether the children of wrath, like the rest.
Ephe Murdock 2:4  But God who is rich in his mercies, because of the great love with which he loved us,
Ephe Murdock 2:5  when we were dead in our sins, quickened us with the Messiah, and rescued us by his grace;
Ephe Murdock 2:6  and resuscitated us with him, and seated us with him in heaven, in Jesus the Messiah:
Ephe Murdock 2:7  that he might show to the coming ages the magnitude of the riches of his grace, and his benignity towards us in Jesus the Messiah.
Ephe Murdock 2:8  For it is by his grace we are rescued, through faith; and this is not of yourselves, but it is the gift of God:
Ephe Murdock 2:10  For we are his creation ; who are created in Jesus the Messiah, for good works, which God hath before prepared for us to walk in.
Ephe Murdock 2:11  Wherefore be mindful, that ye formerly were carnal Gentiles; and ye were called the uncircumcision, by that which is called the circumcision, and which is the work of the hands in the flesh.
Ephe Murdock 2:12  And ye were, at that time, without the Messiah; and were aliens from the regulations of Israel; and strangers to the covenant of the promise; and were without hope, and without God, in the world.
Ephe Murdock 2:13  But now, by Jesus the Messiah, ye who before were afar off, have been brought near by the blood of the Messiah.
Ephe Murdock 2:14  For he is himself our peace, who hath made the two become one, and hath demolished the wall which stood in the midst, and the enmity, by his flesh;
Ephe Murdock 2:15  and by his prescriptions he hath abolished the law of ordinances; that, in himself, he might make the two to be one new man; and he hath made peace,
Ephe Murdock 2:16  and hath reconciled both with God, in one body, and hath slain the enmity by his cross.
Ephe Murdock 2:17  And he came, and proclaimed peace to you afar off, and to those near:
Ephe Murdock 2:18  because, by him there is access for us both, by one Spirit, unto the Father.
Ephe Murdock 2:19  Wherefore, ye are not strangers, nor sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God.
Ephe Murdock 2:20  And ye are built upon the foundations of the legates and the prophets; and Jesus the Messiah hath become the head of the corner in the edifice.
Ephe Murdock 2:21  And in him all the edifice is framed together, and groweth into a holy temple in the Lord;
Ephe Murdock 2:22  while ye also are builded in him, for a habitation of God through the Spirit.
Chapter 3
Ephe Murdock 3:1  On this account, I Paul am a prisoner of Jesus the Messiah, for the sake of you Gentiles:
Ephe Murdock 3:2  if so be, ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God, which was given to me among you:
Ephe Murdock 3:3  that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, (as I have now written to you in brief,
Ephe Murdock 3:4  so that while ye read, ye might be able to understand my knowledge of the mystery of the Messiah,)
Ephe Murdock 3:5  which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to his holy legates and to his prophets, by the Spirit;
Ephe Murdock 3:6  that the Gentiles should be sharers. of his inheritance, and partakers of his body, and of the promise which is given in him by the gospel;
Ephe Murdock 3:7  of which I have been a minister, according to the gift of the goodness of God, which was imparted to me by the operation of his power:
Ephe Murdock 3:8  to me, who am the least of all the saints, hath this grace been given, that I should announce among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of the Messiah,
Ephe Murdock 3:9  and should show to all men what is the dispensation of the mystery, which for ages was hid up in God the Creator of all things:
Ephe Murdock 3:10  so that, by means of the church, the manifold wisdom of God might become known to the principalities and powers that are in heaven:
Ephe Murdock 3:11  which wisdom he arranged ages before, and he hath executed it by Jesus the Messiah our Lord;
Ephe Murdock 3:12  through whom we have boldness and access, in the confidence of his faith.
Ephe Murdock 3:13  Therefore I pray, that I may not be discouraged by my afflictions, which are for your sakes; for this is your glory.
Ephe Murdock 3:14  And I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus the Messiah,
Ephe Murdock 3:15  from whom the whole family in heaven and on earth is named;
Ephe Murdock 3:16  that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit; that in your inner man
Ephe Murdock 3:17  the Messiah may dwell by faith, and in your hearts by love, while your root and your foundation waxeth strong;
Ephe Murdock 3:18  and that ye may be able to explore, with all the saints, what is the height and depth, and length and breadth,
Ephe Murdock 3:19  and may know the greatness of the Messiah's love; and that ye may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Ephe Murdock 3:20  Now to him who is able, by his almighty power, to do for us even more than we ask or think, according to his power that worketh in us;
Ephe Murdock 3:21  to him be glory, in his church, by Jesus the Messiah, in all generations, for ever and ever. Amen.
Chapter 4
Ephe Murdock 4:1  I therefore, a prisoner in our Lord, beseech of you, that ye walk, (as it becometh the calling wherewith ye are called,)
Ephe Murdock 4:2  with all lowliness of mind, and quietness, and long suffering; and that ye be forbearing one towards another, in love.
Ephe Murdock 4:3  And be ye solicitous to keep the unity of the Spirit, in a bond of peace;
Ephe Murdock 4:4  so that ye may become one body, and one Spirit; even as ye are called unto one hope of your calling.
Ephe Murdock 4:5  For, the Lord is one, and the faith one, and the baptism one;
Ephe Murdock 4:6  and one God is the Father of all, and over all, and by all, and in us all.
Ephe Murdock 4:7  And to each of us grace is given, according to the measure of the gift of the Messiah.
Ephe Murdock 4:8  Wherefore it is said: He ascended on high, and carried captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.
Ephe Murdock 4:9  Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also previously descended to the interior regions of the earth?
Ephe Murdock 4:10  He who descended, is also the same that ascended up, high above all the heavens, that he might fulfill all things.
Ephe Murdock 4:11  And he gave some, legates; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers:
Ephe Murdock 4:12  for perfecting the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edification of the body of the Messiah;
Ephe Murdock 4:13  until we all become one and the same, in faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, and one complete man according to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Messiah:
Ephe Murdock 4:14  and that we might not be children, agitated and turned about by every wind of the crafty doctrines of men who plot to seduce by their subtilty:
Ephe Murdock 4:15  but that we might be established in our love; and that every thing in us might progress in the Messiah, who is the head:
Ephe Murdock 4:16  and from him it is, the whole body is framed together and compacted by all the junctures, according to the gift that is imparted by measure to each member, for the growth of the body; that his edifice may be perfected in love.
Ephe Murdock 4:17  And this I say, and testify in the Lord, that henceforth ye walk not as the other Gentiles, who walk in the vanity of their mind:
Ephe Murdock 4:18  and they are dark in their understandings, and are alienated from the life of God, because there is not in them knowledge, and because of the blindness of their heart.
Ephe Murdock 4:19  They have cut off their hope, and have given themselves over to lasciviousness, and to the practice of all uncleanness in their greediness.
Ephe Murdock 4:21  if ye have truly heard him, and by him have learned as the truth is in Jesus.
Ephe Murdock 4:22  But ye have learned, that ye should lay aside your former practices, the old man that is corrupted with the lusts of error;
Ephe Murdock 4:23  and should be renewed in the spirit of your minds;
Ephe Murdock 4:24  and should put on the new man, that is created by God in righteousness and in the holiness of truth.
Ephe Murdock 4:25  Wherefore, put away from you lying, and speak ye the truth each with his neighbor; for we are members one of another.
Ephe Murdock 4:26  Be ye angry, and sin not: and let not the sun go down upon your wrath.
Ephe Murdock 4:28  And let him that stole, steal no more; but let him labor with his hands, and do good acts; that he may have to give to him who needeth.
Ephe Murdock 4:29  Let no hateful language come from your mouth, but that which is decorous, and useful for edification, that it may convey grace to those who hear.
Ephe Murdock 4:30  And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed for the day of redemption.
Ephe Murdock 4:31  Let all bitterness, and anger, and wrath, and clamoring, and reviling, be taken from you, with all malice:
Ephe Murdock 4:32  and be ye affectionate towards one another, and sympathetic; and forgive ye one another, as God by the Messiah hath forgiven us.
Chapter 5
Ephe Murdock 5:1  Be ye therefore imitators of God, as dear children:
Ephe Murdock 5:2  and walk in love; as the Messiah also hath loved us, and hath given up himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God, for a sweet odor.
Ephe Murdock 5:3  But whoredom, and all impurity, and avarice let them not be at all heard of among you, as it becometh the saints;
Ephe Murdock 5:4  Neither obscenities, nor words of folly, or of division, or of scurrility, which are not useful; but instead of these, thanksgiving.
Ephe Murdock 5:5  For this know ye, that every man who is a whoremonger, or impure, or avaricious, or a worshipper of idols, hath no inheritance in the kingdom of the Messiah and of God.
Ephe Murdock 5:6  Let no man deceive you with vain words; for it is on account of these things that the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience.
Ephe Murdock 5:8  For ye were heretofore darkness, but now are ye light in our Lord: therefore, as the children of light, so walk ye.
Ephe Murdock 5:9  For the fruits of the light are in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth.
Ephe Murdock 5:10  And search out what is pleasing before our Lord:
Ephe Murdock 5:11  And have no commerce with the works of darkness which are unfruitful, but reprove them.
Ephe Murdock 5:12  For the things they do in secret, it is nauseous even to mention.
Ephe Murdock 5:13  For all things are exposed and made manifest by the light: and whatever maketh manifest, is light.
Ephe Murdock 5:14  Wherefore it is said: Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and the Messiah will illuminate thee.
Ephe Murdock 5:15  See therefore, that ye walk circumspectly; not like the simple,
Ephe Murdock 5:16  but like the wise, who purchase their opportunity; because the days are evil.
Ephe Murdock 5:17  Therefore, be not lacking in understanding; but understand ye what is the pleasure of God.
Ephe Murdock 5:18  And be not drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness; but be ye filled with the spirit.
Ephe Murdock 5:19  And converse with yourselves in psalms and hymns; and with your hearts sing to the Lord, in spiritual songs.
Ephe Murdock 5:20  And give thanks to God the Father, at all times, for all men, in the name of our Lord Jesus the Messiah.
Ephe Murdock 5:21  And be submissive one to another, in the love of the Messiah.
Ephe Murdock 5:22  Wives, be ye submissive to your husbands, as to our Lord.
Ephe Murdock 5:23  Because the husband is the head of the wife, even as the Messiah is the head of the church; and he is the vivifier of the body.
Ephe Murdock 5:24  And as the church is subject to the Messiah, so also let wives be to their husbands in all things.
Ephe Murdock 5:25  Husbands, love your wives, even as the Messiah loved his church, and delivered himself up for it;
Ephe Murdock 5:26  that he might sanctify it, and cleanse it, by the washing of water, and by the word;
Ephe Murdock 5:27  and might constitute it a glorious church for himself, in which is no stain, and no wrinkle, and nothing like them; but that it might be holy and without blemish.
Ephe Murdock 5:28  It behooveth men so to love their wives, as they do their own bodies. For he that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Ephe Murdock 5:29  For no one ever hated his own body; but nourisheth it, and provideth for it, even as the Messiah the church.
Ephe Murdock 5:30  For we are members of his body and of his flesh, and of his bones.
Ephe Murdock 5:31  For this reason, a man should quit his father and his mother, and adhere to his wife; and the two should be one flesh.
Ephe Murdock 5:32  This is a great mystery; but I am speaking of the Messiah, and of his church.
Ephe Murdock 5:33  Nevertheless, let each of you severally so love his wife, even as himself: and let the wife reverence her husband.
Chapter 6
Ephe Murdock 6:1  Children, obey your parents in our Lord; for this is right.
Ephe Murdock 6:2  And the first commandment with promise, is this: Honor thy father and thy mother;
Ephe Murdock 6:3  that it may be well with thee, and that thy life may be prolonged on the earth.
Ephe Murdock 6:4  And parents, anger not your children; but train them up in the discipline and doctrine of our Lord.
Ephe Murdock 6:5  Servants, be obedient to your masters after the flesh, with fear, and with trepidation, and with simplicity of heart, as unto the Messiah.
Ephe Murdock 6:6  Not in the sight of the eye, as if ye were pleasing men; but as the servants of the Messiah, who are doing the will of God.
Ephe Murdock 6:7  And serve them with your whole heart, in love, as if serving our Lord and not men;
Ephe Murdock 6:8  knowing that whatever good thing a man may do, the same will be recompensed to him by our Lord, whether he be a servant or a free man.
Ephe Murdock 6:9  Also ye masters, do ye so to your servants. Forgive them a fault; because ye know, that ye have a master in heaven; and there is no respect of persons with him.
Ephe Murdock 6:10  Finally, my brethren, be strong in our Lord, and; in the energy of his power:
Ephe Murdock 6:11  And put ye on; the whole armor of God, so that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Accuser.
Ephe Murdock 6:12  For our conflict is not with flesh and blood, but with principalities, and with those in authority, and with the possessors of this dark world, and with the evil spirits that are beneath heaven.
Ephe Murdock 6:13  Therefore put ye on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to meet the evil one; and, being in all respects prepared, may stand firm.
Ephe Murdock 6:14  Stand up therefore, and gird your loins with truth; and put on the breastplate of righteousness;
Ephe Murdock 6:15  and defend your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
Ephe Murdock 6:16  And herewith take to you the confidence of faith, by which ye will have power to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.
Ephe Murdock 6:17  And put on the helmet of rescue; and take hold of the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephe Murdock 6:18  And pray ye, with all prayers and supplications, in spirit, at all times: and in prayer be watchful, at all seasons, praying constantly, and interceding for all the saints:
Ephe Murdock 6:19  and also for me; that language may be given me, in the opening of my mouth; so that I may boldly proclaim the mystery of the gospel,
Ephe Murdock 6:20  of which I am a messenger in chains; that I may utter it boldly, as I ought to utter it.
Ephe Murdock 6:21  And that ye also may know my affairs, and what I am doing, lo, Tychicus, a beloved brother, and a faithful minister in our Lord, will acquaint you;
Ephe Murdock 6:22  whom I have sent to you for this purpose, that ye might know what is going on with me, and that your hearts may be comforted.
Ephe Murdock 6:23  Peace be with the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus the Messiah.
Ephe Murdock 6:24  Grace be with all them who love our Lord Jesus the Messiah without corruptness. Amen.
