I Ch | AFV2020 | 10:3 | And the battle went sorely against Saul. And the archers hit him, and he was wounded by the archers.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 10:4 | And Saul said to his armorbearer, "Draw your sword and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised ones come and abuse me." But his armorbearer would not, for he was very much afraid. So Saul took a sword and fell on it.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 10:5 | And when his armorbearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on the sword and died.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 10:7 | And when all the men of Israel in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons had died, they left their cities and fled. And the Philistines came and lived in them.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 10:8 | And it came to pass on the next day, when the Philistines came to strip the dead, that they found Saul and his sons fallen at Mount Gilboa.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 10:9 | And when they stripped him, they took his head and his armor, and sent word into the land of the Philistines all around, to carry news to their idols and to the people.

Chapter 11
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:1 | And all Israel gathered themselves to David, at Hebron, saying, "Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:2 | And in time past, even when Saul was king, you were the one who led out and brought in Israel. And the LORD your God said to you, 'You shall feed My people Israel, and you shall be ruler over My people Israel.' ”
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:3 | And all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron. And David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD. And they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:4 | And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, where the Jebusites were the people of the land.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:5 | And the people of Jebus said to David, "You shall not come in here." But David took the stronghold of Zion, which is the city of David.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:6 | And David said, "Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain." And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first and became chief.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:8 | And he built the city all around, even from Millo all around. And Joab repaired the rest of the city.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:10 | And these were the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:11 | And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, a Hachmonite, the chief of the captains. He lifted up his spear against three hundred, who were killed by him at one time.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:12 | And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite; he was one of the three mighty men.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:13 | He was with David at Pasdammim. And there the Philistines were gathered together to battle and a portion of the field was full of barley. And the people fled from before the Philistines.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:14 | And they set themselves in the middle of that place, and delivered it, and killed the Philistines. And the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:15 | And three of the mighty captains went down to the rock to David into the cave of Adullam. And the Philistine army camped in the Valley of Rephaim.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:16 | And David was then in the stronghold, and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:17 | And David longed for water and said, "Oh, that someone would give me drink from the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!"
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:18 | And the three broke through the Philistine army and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David. But David would not drink it, but poured it out to the LORD.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:19 | And he said, "May my God forbid me to do this thing. Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in danger?" For they brought it with their lives. And he was not willing to drink it. These three mighty men did these things.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:20 | And Abishai the brother of Joab was chief of the three, for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he killed them, and had a name among the three.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:21 | Of the three, he was more honorable than the two; for he was their captain. However, he did not attain to the first three.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:22 | Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a mighty man of Kabzeel, had done many acts. He killed two lion-like men of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in a pit on a snowy day.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:23 | And he killed an Egyptian, a man of stature, five cubits high. And in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam. And he went down to him with a staff and wrenched the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and killed him with his own spear.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:24 | These things Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did and had the name among the three mighty ones.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 11:25 | Behold, he was honorable among the thirty, but did not attain to the first three. And David set him over his guard.

Chapter 12
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:1 | And these were the ones who came to David at Ziklag, while banned from the face of Saul the son of Kish. And they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:2 | Right and left-handed in slinging stones, armed with bows and arrows, from the brethren of Saul, of Benjamin.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:3 | The chief was Ahiezer, and Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, and Jeziel, and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth, and Berachah, and Jehu of Anathoth,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:4 | And Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty, and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Jozabad the Gederathite,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:8 | And of the Gadites mighty men separated themselves to David into the stronghold in the wilderness, men of the army for battle, setting in order shield and buckler, and their faces were the faces of a lion, and were as gazelles upon the mountains for swiftness:
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:14 | These were the sons of Gad, captains of the army. One of the least was over a hundred, and the greatest over a thousand.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:15 | These were they who went over Jordan in the first month when it had overflowed all its banks. And they put all those of the valleys to flight, toward the east and toward the west.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:17 | And David went out to meet them, and answered and said to them, "If you have come to me in peace, to help me, my heart shall be knit to you. But if you come to betray me to my enemies, since there is no wrong in my hands, let the God of our fathers look on it and rebuke it."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:18 | And the spirit came upon Amasai, chief of the thirty. And he said, "We are yours, David, and on your side, son of Jesse. Peace, peace be upon you, and peace upon your helpers, for your God has helped you." And David received them and made them captains of the band.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:19 | And some from Manasseh defected to David when he came with the Philistines to battle against Saul. (But they did not help them, for the lords of the Philistines sent him away on advice, saying, "He will fall to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.")
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:20 | As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him these from Manasseh: Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zillethai, captains of the thousands who were from Manasseh.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:21 | And they helped David against the band, for they were all mighty men of valor and were commanders in the army.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:22 | For at that time they came to David day by day to help him until it was a great army, like an army of God.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:23 | And these were the numbers of the chiefs of those armed for war who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD:
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:24 | The sons of Judah bearing shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, armed for war.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:25 | From the sons of Simeon the mighty men of power for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:27 | And Jehoiada was the leader of the Aaronites, and with him were three thousand and seven hundred.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:28 | And Zadok, a young man mighty of valor, and of his fathers' house were twenty-two captains.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:29 | And the sons of Benjamin, the kindred of Saul, were three thousand. And until then, the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:30 | And of the children of Ephraim were twenty thousand and eight hundred mighty men of valor, famous throughout the house of their fathers.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:31 | And from the half-tribe of Manasseh were eighteen thousand, who were chosen by name to come and make David king.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:32 | And from the sons of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, the heads of them were two hundred. And all their brethren were at their command.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:33 | From Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all the weapons of war, fifty thousand who could keep rank. They were not of a double heart.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:34 | And from Naphtali, a thousand captains; and with them with shield and spear were thirty-seven thousand.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:36 | And of Asher, those who could go out with the army to set in order the battle were forty thousand.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:37 | And on the other side of Jordan, from the Reubenites, and of the Gadites, and from the half-tribe of Manasseh, with all of the weapons of war for battle were a hundred and twenty thousand.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:38 | All these were men of war, keeping rank, they came with a perfect heart to Hebron to make David king over Israel. And also all the rest of Israel was of one heart to make David king.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:39 | And they were with David three days, eating and drinking, for their brethren had prepared food for them.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 12:40 | And also those who were near them, even to Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on donkeys, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen. And they brought food, meal, cakes of figs and bunches of raisins, and wine and oil, and oxen and sheep abundantly, for there was joy in Israel.
Chapter 13
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:1 | And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:2 | And David said to all the congregation of Israel, "If it is good to you, and if it is from the LORD our God, let us send to our brethren, those remaining in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites in their cities and that they may gather together to us.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:3 | And let us bring again the ark of our God to us, for we did not inquire at it in the days of Saul."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:4 | And all the congregation said that they would do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:5 | And David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even to the entering of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjath Jearim.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:6 | And David and all Israel went up to Baalah, to Kirjath Jearim of Judah, to bring up from there the ark of the LORD God, He who dwells between the cherubim, Whose name is called on it.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:7 | And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab. And Uzza and Ahio led the cart.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:8 | And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with lyres, and with harps, and with drums, and with cymbals, and with silver trumpets.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:9 | And when they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:10 | And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and He struck him because he put his hand to the ark. And he died there before the LORD.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:11 | And David was displeased because the LORD had broken forth upon Uzza. And he called that place The Breach of Uzza, as it is to this day.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:12 | And David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How shall I bring the ark of God to me?"
I Ch | AFV2020 | 13:13 | And David did not bring the ark to himself in the City of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
Chapter 14
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:1 | Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David and timbers of cedars with masons and carpenters to build him a house.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:2 | And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was exalted exceedingly because of His people Israel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:4 | And these were the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:8 | And the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, and all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard and went out against them.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:10 | And David asked of God, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? And will You deliver them into my hand?" And the LORD said to him, "Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:11 | And they came up to Baal Perazim. And David defeated them there. Then David said, "God has broken out upon my enemies by my hand like the breaking forth of waters." Therefore, they called the name of that place The Breaking of Baal.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:12 | And they left their gods there. And David commanded, and they were burned with fire.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:14 | And David asked again of God. And God said to him, "Do not go up after them. Turn away from them, and come upon them over against the weeping trees.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:15 | And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the weeping trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 14:16 | And David did as God commanded him. And they struck the army of the Philistines from Gibeon to Gezer.
Chapter 15
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:1 | And David made houses for himself in the City of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tent for it.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:2 | Then David said, "No one ought to carry the ark of God except the Levites, for God has chosen them to carry the ark of God and to minister to Him forever."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:3 | And David assembled all Israel together to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD to its place which He had prepared for it.

I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:10 | From the sons of Uzziel: Amminadab the chief and a hundred and twelve of his brethren.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:11 | And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:12 | And he said to them, "You are the heads of the fathers of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, so that you may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place which I have prepared for it.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:13 | Now because you did not do it at the first, the LORD our God broke forth upon us, since we did not seek Him according to the ordinance."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:14 | And the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves in order to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:15 | And the children of the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders, with the staves on it, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:16 | And David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of music, lyres, and harps, and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up the voice with joy.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:17 | And the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel, and of his brethren, Asaph the son of Berechiah. And from the sons of Merari their brethren, was Ethan the son of Kushaiah.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:18 | And with them were their brethren of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:19 | And the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan were appointed to sound with cymbals of bronze;
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:20 | And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah with harps set to Alamoth.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:21 | And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah were to lead with lyres according to the Sheminith.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:22 | And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the music. He instructed about the songs because he was skillful.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:24 | And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethanel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew with the silver trumpets before the ark of God. And Obed-Edom and Jehiah were gatekeepers for the ark.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:25 | Then David and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:26 | And it came to pass when God helped the Levites who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, they offered seven bulls and seven rams.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:27 | And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen with all the Levites who carried the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the music with the singers. David also had on an ephod of linen.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 15:28 | Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sounding of the ram's horn, and with silver trumpets and with cymbals sounding aloud with harps and lyres.
Chapter 16
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:1 | And they brought the ark of God and set it in the middle of the tent which David had pitched for it. And they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:2 | And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:3 | And he divided to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread and a portion of meat and a raisin cake.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:4 | And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:5 | Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-Edom. And Jeiel praised with instruments of harps and with lyres; and Asaph made a sound with cymbals.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:6 | Also Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests praised with silver trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:7 | Then on that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren in order to thank the LORD:
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:8 | "O give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name, make known His deeds among the people.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:12 | Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:15 | Be always mindful of His covenant, the word He commanded to a thousand generations,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:17 | And He has established it unto Jacob for a law, to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:21 | He did not allow any man to do them wrong. Yea, He reproved kings for their sakes,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:25 | For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised. He also is to be feared above all gods,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:28 | Give to the LORD, O you kindred of the people, give to the LORD glory and strength.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:29 | Give to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him. Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:30 | Tremble before Him, all the earth. Yea, the world is established, it shall not be moved.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:31 | Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice. And let them say among the nations, 'The LORD reigns.'
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:32 | Let the sea roar, and the fullness of it. Let the fields rejoice, and all that is in them.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:33 | Then shall the trees of the forest sing out at the presence of the LORD because He comes to judge the earth.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:34 | O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:35 | And say, 'Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us, and deliver us from the nations, so that we may give thanks to Your holy name, and glory in Your praise.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:36 | Blessed be the LORD God of Israel forever and ever.' And all the people said, 'Amen, and praised the LORD.' ”
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:37 | So he left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD Asaph and his brethren to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required;
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:38 | Also Obed-Edom, with their sixty-eight brethren, and Obed-Edom, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah to be gatekeepers.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:39 | And he left Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place at Gibeon,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:40 | To offer burnt offerings to the LORD upon the altar of the burnt offering morning and evening without end, and to do according to all that is written in the law of the LORD which He commanded Israel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:41 | And he left with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest who were chosen, who were called by name, to give thanks to the LORD because His steadfast love endures forever.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 16:42 | And with them were Heman and Jeduthun with silver trumpets and cymbals for those making a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were gatekeepers.
Chapter 17
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:1 | For it came to pass as David sat in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, "Behold, I dwell in a house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD dwells under curtains."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:4 | "Go and tell David My servant, 'Thus says the LORD, "You shall not build a house for Me to dwell in,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:5 | For I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up Israel, even to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:6 | Wherever I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed My people, saying, 'Why have you not built Me a house of cedars?' " '
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:7 | Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, so that you should be ruler over My people Israel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:8 | And I have been with you wherever you have walked, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a name like the name of the great men who are in the earth.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:9 | And I will ordain a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall live in their place and shall be moved no more; nor shall the children of wickedness waste them any more as at the beginning,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:10 | And since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies. And I declare to you that the LORD will build you a house.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:11 | And it shall come to pass, when your days have ended so that you must go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your seed after you, who shall be from your sons. And I will make his kingdom sure.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:13 | I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. And I will not take My steadfast love away from him as I took it from him who was before you.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:14 | And I will settle him in My house and in My kingdom forever. And his throne shall be established forever." ' ”
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:15 | According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:16 | And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, "Who am I, O, LORD God, and what is my house that You have brought me this far?
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:17 | And yet this was a small thing in Your eyes, O God, for You have also spoken of Your servant's house for a great while to come and have regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:18 | What can David say more to You for the honor of Your servant? For You know Your servant!
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:19 | O LORD, for Your servant's sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all this greatness in making known all these great things.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:20 | O LORD, there is none like You; neither is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:21 | And what one nation in the earth is like Your people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be His own people, to make for Yourself a name of greatness and terribleness by driving out nations from before Your people whom You have redeemed out of Egypt?
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:22 | And You have chosen Your people Israel for Yourself, for Your own people forever. And You, LORD, have become their God.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:23 | And now, O LORD, let the thing which You have spoken, concerning Your servant and concerning his house, be established forever, and do as You have said.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:24 | Let it even be established, so that Your name may be magnified forever, saying, 'The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, is God to Israel.' And let the house of David Your servant be established before You,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 17:25 | For You, O my God, have told Your servant that You will build him a house. Therefore, Your servant has found it in his heart to pray before You.
Chapter 18
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:1 | Now after this it came to pass, that David struck the Philistines and humbled them. And he took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:2 | And he struck Moab. And the people of Moab became David's servants and brought gifts.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:3 | And David struck Hadarezer king of Zobah to Hamath as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:4 | And David took from him a thousand chariots and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen. David also hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them a hundred chariots.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:5 | And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand men of the Syrians.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:6 | Then David placed troops in Syria, in Damascus. And the Syrians became David's servants, bringing gifts. And the LORD preserved David wherever he went.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:7 | And David took the shields of gold which were on the servants of Hadarezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:8 | And David brought very much bronze from Tibhath and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer with which Solomon made the bronze sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of bronze.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:9 | Now when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadarezer king of Zobah,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:10 | He sent Hadoram his son to King David to ask of his welfare and to praise him because he had fought against Hadarezer and had beaten him. For Hadarezer had war with Tou. And he sent with Hadoram all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and bronze.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:11 | And King David dedicated them to the LORD with the silver and the gold which he brought from all the nations, from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:12 | And Abishai the son of Zeruiah killed eighteen thousand of the men of Edom in the Valley of Salt.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:13 | And he put garrisons in Edom. And all the men of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD kept David safe wherever he went.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:14 | And David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:15 | And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army. And Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 18:16 | And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar were the priests. And Shavsha was scribe.
Chapter 19
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:1 | Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died. And his son reigned in his place.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:2 | And David said, "I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash because his father showed kindness to me." And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun in order to comfort him.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:3 | But the rulers of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, "Is David honoring your father in your eyes because he has sent comforters to you? Have not his servants come to you to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land?"
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:4 | And Hanun took David's servants and shaved them, and cut off their garments in half, to the buttocks, and sent them away.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:5 | And some came and told David how the men were treated. And he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, "Stay at Jericho until your beards are grown, and then return."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:6 | And the Ammonites saw that they had made themselves odious to David, and Hanun and the Ammonites sent a thousand talents of silver to hire chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia and out of Maachah of Syria, and out of Zobah.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:7 | And they hired thirty-two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people, who came and pitched before Medeba. And the Ammonites gathered themselves from their cities and came to battle.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:9 | And the children of Ammon came out and put the battle in array at the gate of the city. And the kings who had come were by themselves in the field.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:10 | Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice young men of Israel and set them in array against the Syrians.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:11 | And he delivered the rest of the people into the hand of his brother Abishai. And they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:12 | And he said, "If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me. But if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:13 | Be of good courage and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people and for the cities of our God. And let the LORD do what is good in His sight."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:14 | So Joab and the people with him drew near before the Syrians to the battle. And they fled before him.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:15 | And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians had fled, they also fled before his brother Abishai. And they entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:16 | And the Syrians saw that they were beaten before Israel, and sent messengers and brought out the Syrians who were beyond the river. And Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer went before them.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:17 | And it was told to David. And he gathered all Israel and passed over Jordan and came upon them. And he set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought against him.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 19:18 | But the Syrians fled before Israel. And David killed seven thousand of the Syrians in chariots and forty thousand footmen and he killed Shophach the commander of the army.
Chapter 20
I Ch | AFV2020 | 20:1 | Now it came to pass, that after the year had ended, at the time kings go forth, Joab led out the power of the army and wasted the country of the children of Ammon. And he came and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. And Joab struck Rabbah and destroyed it.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 20:2 | And David took the crown of their king from off his head and found it to weigh a talent of gold. And precious stones were in it. And it was set upon David's head, and he also brought exceedingly much spoil out of the city.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 20:3 | And he brought out the people who were in it. And they cut with saws and with sharp tools of iron, and with the axes. And thus David did with the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 20:4 | And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines. Then Sibbechai the Hushathite killed Sippai of the children of the giant. And they were humbled.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 20:5 | And there was war again with the Philistines. And Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 20:6 | And again there was a battle in Gath, and a man of stature was there, and his fingers and toes were twenty-four, six on each hand and six on each foot. And he also was the son of the giant.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 20:7 | But he cursed Israel, and Jonathan the son of Shimea, David's brother, killed him.
Chapter 21
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:2 | And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, "Go number Israel from Beersheba to Dan. And bring the number of them to me so that I may know."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:3 | And Joab answered, "May the LORD add to His people a hundred times, but my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? Why then does my lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?"
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:4 | But the king's word prevailed against Joab. And Joab departed and went up and down all Israel, and came again to Jerusalem.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:5 | And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people to David. And in all Israel there were one million and a hundred thousand men who drew the sword. And in Judah were four hundred and seventy thousand men who drew the sword.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:6 | But Levi and Benjamin he did not count among them, for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:8 | And David said to God, "I have sinned greatly because I have done this thing. But now, I beseech You, remove the iniquity of Your servant for I have done very foolishly."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:10 | "Go and tell David, saying, 'Thus says the LORD: "I offer you three things. Choose one of them so that I may do it to you." ' ”
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:11 | And Gad came to David and said to him, "Thus says the LORD, 'Choose for yourself:
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:12 | Either three years of famine, or three months to be swept away before your foes, while the sword of your enemies overtakes you, or else three days of the sword of the LORD, even the plague in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the border of Israel.' And now say what word I shall bring again to Him Who sent me."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:13 | And David said to Gad, "I am in great distress. Let me fall now into the hand of the LORD, for His mercies are very great. But do not let me fall into the hand of man."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:14 | So the LORD sent a plague upon Israel. And there fell seventy thousand men of Israel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:15 | And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, the LORD looked. And He repented of the evil and said to the angel who destroyed, "Enough! Stay your hand now!" And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:16 | And David lifted up his eyes and saw the angel of the LORD standing between the earth and heaven, and his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem. And David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:17 | And David said to God, "Did not I command to number the people? Even I am the one who has sinned and done evil indeed. But these sheep, what have they done? I pray You, let Your hand be upon me, O LORD my God, and upon my father's house, but not upon Your people, that they should be plagued."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:18 | And the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David that David should go up and set up an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:20 | And Ornan turned back and saw the angel. And his four sons with him hid themselves. And Ornan was threshing wheat.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:21 | And David came to Ornan, and Ornan looked and saw David. And he went out of the threshing floor and bowed to David with his face to the ground.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:22 | Then David said to Ornan, "Give me the place of this threshing floor, so that I may build an altar on it to the LORD. You shall give it to me for the full price, so that the plague may be stayed from the people."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:23 | And Ornan said to David, "Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do what is good in his eyes. Lo, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the grain offering. I give it all."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:24 | And King David said to Ornan, "No, but I will truly buy it for the full price, for I will not take what is yours for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:26 | And David built an altar there to the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD. And He answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:28 | At that time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 21:29 | For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon.
Chapter 22
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:1 | Then David said, "This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:2 | And David commanded the strangers in the land of Israel to be gathered. And he set masons to cut squared stones to build the house of God.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:3 | And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings, and bronze in abundance without weight,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:4 | And also cedar trees without number, for the Sidonians and the Tyrians brought in cedar trees in abundance to David.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:5 | And David said, "Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house to be built for the LORD is to be exceedingly magnificent, for a name and for glory throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it." And David prepared abundantly before his death.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:6 | And he called for Solomon his son, and commanded him to build a house for the LORD God of Israel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:7 | And David said to Solomon, "My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house unto the name of the LORD my God.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:8 | But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 'You have shed much blood and have made great wars. You shall not build a house to My name because you have shed much blood upon the earth in My sight.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:9 | Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. And I will give him rest from all his enemies all around. For his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:10 | He shall build a house for My name. And he shall be My son, and I will be his Father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.'
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:11 | Now, my son, may the LORD be with you and bless you, and build the house of the LORD your God as He has said of you.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:12 | Only may the LORD give you wisdom and understanding, and direct you concerning Israel, so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:13 | Then you shall prosper, if you take heed to fulfill the statutes and ordinances with which the LORD charged Moses, concerning Israel. Be strong and of good courage. Do not fear, nor be dismayed.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:14 | And, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a million talents of silver, and of bronze and iron without weight, for it is in abundance. I have prepared timber also, and stone, and you may add to them.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:15 | And there are many workmen with you, cutters and workers of stone and timber, and all kinds of skillful men for every kind of work.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:16 | Of the gold, the silver, and the bronze, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and work, and may the LORD be with you."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 22:18 | "Is not the LORD your God with you? And has He not given you rest on every side? For He has given the people of the land into my hand. And the land is subdued before the LORD and before His people.
Chapter 23
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:2 | And he gathered together all the rulers of Israel with the priests and the Levites.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:3 | And the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward. And their number by their heads, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:4 | Of these, twenty-four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD, and six thousand officers and judges.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:5 | And four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which David made for praising.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:6 | And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, Gershon, Kohath and Merari.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:9 | The sons of Shimei: Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three in all. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:10 | And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:11 | And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second. But Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons. Therefore, they were in one roster, according to their father's house.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:13 | The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was separated so that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to Him, and to bless in His name forever.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:17 | And the sons of Eliezer: Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:19 | Of the sons of Hebron, Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:22 | And Eleazar died and had no sons, but had daughters. And their brethren, the sons of Kish, took them.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:24 | These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers, the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their heads, the ones who did the work for the service of the house of the LORD from the age of twenty years and upward.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:25 | For David said, "The LORD God of Israel has given rest to His people so that they may dwell in Jerusalem forever,"
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:26 | And also to the Levites, so that they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any of its vessels for its service,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:27 | For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:28 | Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD in the courts and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:29 | Both for the showbread, and for the fine flour for grain offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all kinds of measure and size,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:30 | And to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at evening.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 23:31 | And they were to offer all burnt sacrifices to the LORD on the Sabbath, on the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded to them, continually before the LORD,
Chapter 24
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:1 | And these were the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:2 | But Nadab and Abihu died before their father and had no sons. And Eleazar and Ithamar were priests.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:3 | And David distributed them according to their offices in their service, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:4 | And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar. And so they were divided. Among the sons of Eleazar were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:5 | So they divided them by lot, one sort with another, for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:6 | And Shemaiah the son of Nethanel the scribe, of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the rulers, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites. One principal household was taken for Eleazar and one taken for Ithamar.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:19 | These were their courses in their service to come into the house of the LORD, according to their manner, to Aaron their father, as the LORD God of Israel had commanded him.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:20 | And the rest of the sons of Levi were these: Of the sons of Amram, Shubael; of the sons of Shubael, Jehdeiah.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:23 | And the sons of Hebron: Jeriah, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 24:30 | The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites according to the house of their fathers.
Chapter 25
I Ch | AFV2020 | 25:1 | Now David separated the army commanders separated to the service of those of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who were prophets with lyres, with harps and with cymbals. And the number of the workmen according to their service was:
I Ch | AFV2020 | 25:2 | Of the sons of Asaph, Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied according to the order of the king.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 25:3 | Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, and Shimei, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the lyre to give thanks and to praise the LORD.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 25:4 | Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 25:5 | All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 25:6 | All these were under the hands of their father for music in the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps and lyres for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 25:7 | So the number of them with their brethren who were instructed in the songs of the LORD, all that were skillful, was two hundred and eighty-eight.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 25:8 | And they cast lots for their duty, the small as well as the great, the teacher as the pupil.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 25:9 | And the first lot came out for Asaph to Joseph; the second was to Gedaliah, with his brethren and sons, twelve;
Chapter 26
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:1 | Concerning the divisions of the gatekeepers. Of the Korahites: Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:2 | And the sons of Meshelemiah: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth,

I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:8 | All these were the sons of Obed- Edom. They and their sons and their brethren were able men with strength for the service, and there were sixty-two of Obed-Edom.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:10 | Also to Hosah, of the sons of Merari, were sons: Shimri was the chief (though not the firstborn, yet his father made him the chief),
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:11 | Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth. All the sons and brethren of Hosah were thirteen.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:12 | Among these were the divisions of the gatekeepers, among the chief men, having charges like their brethren to minister in the house of the LORD.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:13 | And they cast lots, the small as well as the great, according to the house of their fathers for every gate.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:14 | And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah; then Zechariah his son, a wise counselor—they cast lots for him. And his lot came out northward.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:16 | To Shuppim and Hosah westward, with the gate of Shallecheth by the highway going up, ward against ward.

I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:27 | They dedicated part of the spoils won in battles to maintain the house of the LORD,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:28 | And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated. Whoever had dedicated anything, it was at the hand of Shelomith and of his brethren.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:29 | Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges.

I Ch | AFV2020 | 26:31 | Jerijah was the chief among the men of Hebron. He was of the Hebronites, according to the generations of his fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought for, and there were found among them mighty men of valor at Jazer of Gilead.

I Ch | AFV2020 | 27:24 | Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he did not finish because wrath fell against the children of Israel for this. And the number was not recorded in the account of the chronicles of King David.

I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:2 | And David the king stood up on his feet and said, "Hear me, my brethren and my people. I had in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made preparations for the building.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:3 | But God said to me, 'You shall not build a house for My name, because you have been a man of war and have shed blood.'
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:4 | However, the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever. For He has chosen Judah to be the ruler, and of the house of Judah the house of my father. And among the sons of my father's house He was pleased to make me king over all Israel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:5 | And of all my sons (for the LORD has given me many sons), He has chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:6 | And He said to me, 'Solomon your son shall build My house and My courts, for I have chosen him to be My son, and I will be his Father.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:7 | And I will establish his kingdom forever if he continues resolute in keeping My commandments and My ordinances, as he is today.'
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:8 | And now in the sight of all Israel, the congregation of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God, so that you may possess this good land and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you forever.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:9 | And you, Solomon my son, acknowledge the God of your father and serve Him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you. But if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:10 | Take heed now, for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong and do it."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:11 | Then David gave to his son Solomon the plan of the porch, and of its houses, and of its treasuries, and of its upper rooms, and of its innermost rooms, and of the place of the mercy seat,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:12 | And the plans of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the rooms all around the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the holy things;
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:13 | And for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD;
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:14 | Even gold by weight for things of gold, for all instruments of every kind of service; silver for all the vessels of silver by weight, for all vessels of every kind of service;
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:15 | And by weight for the lampstands of gold, and for their lamps of gold, with the weight of each lampstand and its lamps. And he gave for the lampstands of silver by weight, for the lampstand and for its lamps, according to the use of each lampstand;
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:16 | And by weight he gave gold for the tables of the showbread for every table; and likewise silver for the tables of silver;
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:17 | And pure gold for the fleshhooks, and the bowls, and the cups; and for the golden basins he gave gold by weight for each basin, and silver by weight for each basin of silver;
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:18 | And he gave for the altar of incense refined gold by weight, and gold for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubim, who spread out their wings, and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:19 | "All this," said David, "was in writing from the hand of the LORD. He made me understand all the details of these plans."
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:20 | And David said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it. Do not fear, nor be dismayed, for the LORD God, even my God, will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 28:21 | And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites are for all the service of the house of God. And there shall be with you every willing, skillful man for every kind of workmanship, for any kind of service. Also the rulers and all the people will be completely at your command."
Chapter 29
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:1 | Then David the king said to all the congregation, "Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is young and tender, and the work is great, for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:2 | Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the bronze for things of bronze, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood, onyx stones, and stones to be set, and also stones of antimony, and stones of many colors, and every precious stone, and stones of alabaster, in abundance.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:3 | And also, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, out of my own treasure of gold and silver I have given to the house of my God over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house,
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:4 | Three thousand talents of gold of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver to overlay the walls of the houses;
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:5 | The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all kinds of work by the hands of artificers. Now then who is willing to consecrate his service this day to the LORD?"
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:6 | Then the chiefs of the fathers, and the rulers of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:7 | And they gave for the service of the house of God five thousand talents of gold and ten thousand darics, and ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents of iron.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:8 | And those who had precious stones gave to the treasury of the house of the LORD by the hand of Jehiel the Gershomite.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:9 | And the people rejoiced because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD. And David the king also rejoiced with great joy.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:10 | And David blessed the LORD before all the congregation. And David said, "Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel our Father, forever and ever.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:11 | O LORD, Yours is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and, the majesty, for all in the heavens and in the earth is Yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and You are exalted as head over all.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:12 | And the riches and the honor are from You, and You reign over all. And in Your hand is power and might. And it is in Your hand to make great and to give strength to all.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:14 | But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? For all things are from You, and we have given to You that which is Yours.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:15 | For we are strangers before You, and pilgrims, as our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and none abides.
I Ch | AFV2020 | 29:16 | O LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name comes from Your hand and is all Your own.
